They were rude, nasty, inappropriate, disrespectful, incompetent, lazy, and absolutely, unbelievably wrong in their treatment of myself and the other customers. They intentionally chose not to serve me before a customer that was behind me, and when I mentioned it, the employee proceeded to curse me out and walk away. The store manage, an woman, did not address her about her behavior; but simply told her they would be leaving soon. Then claimed that I was the reason their computers weren't working and walked away. Fire everyone, close this store down. We don't need this abomination of a business in our neighborhood. Absolutely atrocious!!!

Great variety of products although a necessarily limited depth but still it's hard not to find what's needed. I have since been in other DG's but the execution at this store is the best. The employees are friendly and after only a few visits recognize customers and even what they usually buy. The store is neat and clean and the employees care about doing a good job. No slackers here. What ever they're being paid, it's not enough. This store turned me into a fan.

The staff are helpful, friendly, scary, and sometimes hit on you (provided you look as good as I do). Here's the Skinny: The good: Great deals to be had. $3 dvd's. $5 Blu-Ray's, $6 Physician's Formula makeup, groceries at half-off or more, dog treats, toilet paper, and much more. The bad: Sometimes stuff is past the expiration date. Note: WAY past the expiration date. I found some stuff that expired in 2009. Avoid that stuff unless you are trying to pull a 'Shad-yogurt' scheme a-la Striptease. The skinny: Fun people, good prices, enough soda to make Mayor Bloomberg have a stroke.

I had the WORST experience at the Dollar General off 9th Ave and 49th Street. I've been going to…read morethis store for years. Just now I was in line, in the 6 ft area in front of the other customer in the check out lane. A woman came up behind me, right behind me, like 7 inches from my neck. Her mask was below her nose so she wasn't even wearing it properly. I turned around and tried to ignore her. As I walked up and put my items on the checkout counter she bent over to put HER items in the check out counter. She was about 2 ft away. I had had enough. I said "I work with COVID patients could she please keep your distance." She argues back saying I didn't need to talk to her like that and who was I? The clerk said nothing. I tried calling the store but the number is on permanent hold. I called the St Pete police department. The officer told me to call tomorrow morning and she'll put me in touch with the city commission on practicing safety. Mark Knight

The prices are good and there is a police officer out front ALWAYS on duty. Some items are knock-offs (I.e. FruityRocks instead of FruityPebbles) and there's always interesting parts/cuts of beef and other animals. The service was pleasant even with a long wait. Tip: Bring your own bags since Save-a-Lot charges for their plastic. Also, Unless you need something super quick, head over to Publix which, is just a few blocks away. Cleaner, safer, more variety.

Lol...I have always discounted Family Dollar's as cheap-looking crap that is not worth a penny. But I was surprised to find a 7 piece stainless steel kitchenware for $25..it's normally $50 in the other places. I ended up here because I had to buy some ordinary household items for my mom who was moving into her new place. I looked forward to it with dread. I still don't like the clothes, general atmosphere but who the heck cares when the prices are better for certain items. That's this store's mantra... They have scrubs for people in the medical field, and I'm sure it's cheaper than going to a medical supply store. I found a waffle maker for $15 and small crockpot for $10. I was pretty impressed with the fabric shower curtains only for $10 and the comforters for $25 - $35 too. It's located inside a shopping plaza near a very popular Beauty Depot next door, however there are ALWAYS several homeless people walking right up to you asking for money. And by the Beauty Depot there's some women who set up a table to ask for donations. So yeah...I didn't really like that part of it much. The store had a steady stream of customers, primarily black (like me, in case you didn't notice). There were only 2 workers in the store: a cashier who always had a line of customers since there was no one else at a second register, and another worker who was in the store helping customers who needed to find things. They seemed like they were wanting to get through the work day and I don't blame them. It's been a while since I've been to Family Dollar, but I will come back to rack up some savings. When my mom asked me to go I didn't even know where it was and this location was not on Yelp, I passed it on the way to a location that was further out, so I actually added them to Yelp. I've been to Beauty Depot before so I know they have been here for a while, it just didn't come to mind.
