I knew that I needed to spend $15 to get $5 off. The person that was checking my items out was not paying attention, and at the end said I couldn't use my coupon bc that store was closing. I told him fine. I'm not buying it. Afterward he said it's not a coupon and it's my rewards number. He then scanned it and the coupon amount came off. He was too distracted w/ some other person who came in, and deliberately wanted to forget about my transaction and expect me to pay full price even with my coupon presented. Crappy service! he then told another customer in front of me that every Big lots in St. Pete is closing except the one I was at after he said my coupon can't be used bc that location was closing. Whatever. It did look like their selection was awful but then again it was the last day of the weekend after Thanksgiving. Either way, I won't be back here.

In particular, I picked up a $5 back pack for the beach and Universal Studios. Looking forward to taking our grandson to Harry Potter World, I spotted "Harry Potter's Unofficial Book of Spells." Perfect to use with his new wand! A great $5 purchase! At the end of the first day enjoying our floats, mine developed a split and deflated. I returned it to the store and got a replacement with no issue whatsoever. The manager was so friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Five Below But any pictures of me in the float will NOT be made public!

The bad: Sometimes stuff is past the expiration date. Note: WAY past the expiration date. I found some stuff that expired in 2009. Avoid that stuff unless you are trying to pull a 'Shad-yogurt' scheme a-la Striptease. The skinny: Fun people, good prices, enough soda to make Mayor Bloomberg have a stroke.

Lol...I have always discounted Family Dollar's as cheap-looking crap that is not worth a penny. But I was surprised to find a 7 piece stainless steel kitchenware for $25..it's normally $50 in the other places. I ended up here because I had to buy some ordinary household items for my mom who was moving into her new place. I looked forward to it with dread. I still don't like the clothes, general atmosphere but who the heck cares when the prices are better for certain items. That's this store's mantra... They have scrubs for people in the medical field, and I'm sure it's cheaper than going to a medical supply store. I found a waffle maker for $15 and small crockpot for $10. I was pretty impressed with the fabric shower curtains only for $10 and the comforters for $25 - $35 too. It's located inside a shopping plaza near a very popular Beauty Depot next door, however there are ALWAYS several homeless people walking right up to you asking for money. And by the Beauty Depot there's some women who set up a table to ask for donations. So yeah...I didn't really like that part of it much. The store had a steady stream of customers, primarily black (like me, in case you didn't notice). There were only 2 workers in the store: a cashier who always had a line of customers since there was no one else at a second register, and another worker who was in the store helping customers who needed to find things. They seemed like they were wanting to get through the work day and I don't blame them. It's been a while since I've been to Family Dollar, but I will come back to rack up some savings. When my mom asked me to go I didn't even know where it was and this location was not on Yelp, I passed it on the way to a location that was further out, so I actually added them to Yelp. I've been to Beauty Depot before so I know they have been here for a while, it just didn't come to mind.

Overall, the store is fine for love mini moderate priced clothing items at discount prices. The selection is usually OK depending on when you go, call finding things usually involves flipping through the racks to find an appropriate size. The experience is typical in a store like this, obviously this is something to anticipate in a bargain store. What has become annoying and frankly a constant based on my past few experiences and those of others who have left reviews is the level of service. Every time I come to the store, Early or late, there always seems to be a long line to check out. What I you find strange is that despite the fact that there are at least 12 different registers, I never see more than two or three open at any one time. On my trip today, I purchase just one dress shirt. He entered the store at 5:30, spent about 20 minutes looking at shirts and found one that I liked. Attempted to see what it may look like in a mirror; it is understandable that there are no dressing rooms during this time but one would think there might be a mirror and a clothing store someplace but apparently not. At 10 to 6 I walked over to the registers; there were just three people in front of me and three registers open. The next time I looked at the clock it was 608 when I started my car. I just think 18 minutes is a little too long to wait in line, especially given that I had just one item and paid cash. Prices are good, selection OK, but the service is horrible and definitely need some improvement.
