The eviction turned out to be a scam but in looking for a new residence and having extreme difficulty in VA, I looked into facilities in WV. A Place for Mom who works with Home Away From Home did not help me with WV facilities and told me there were none. I reached out indirectly to David Bolyard who owns Home Away From Home. David and Jennifer Adkins, Director at Home Away From Home, took my brother in sight unseen. I was immediately won over when the first meal he received was in a plastic compartmentalized tray (my brother dislikes his food touching each other). That was a year ago and I have not regarded his being moved to WV (even though it is a 4 hour drive). During the past year there have been a few outbreaks with my brother that have required his being send out for additional care. But I have never had to worry about looking for another facility. Conversely, Jennifer Adkins has personally gone to the hospitals and checked on their care of my brother and called me with any concerns. Her staff is excellent!! My brother walks around and takes the staff food which they willingly share with him because it means he is eating. I witnessed another patron trying to leave and became aggressive with the staff member who was trying to persuade him back inside. He pushed her down and once she got up she made sure he was OK before going to the doctor herself. Then returned to her duties after seeing the doctor. There was no negativity toward the male patient but only compassion and concern. Physically, Home Away from Home is well kept, clean and orderly. It is decorated for comfort rather than to impress. The food is homey and delicious not gourmet fusion. The staff knows everyone's name and work to understand their desires and needs. They work well with the patrons' families as well. They have accommodated every request I have made of them. I cannot highly enough praise David, Jennifer and the staff at Home Away from Home.

My husband was in the rehab section of Paramount of South Hills. He received excellent,…read moreindividualized care. Every member of his team treated him with respect and compassion. The entire staff at Paramount were pleasant and helpful and you can tell that they all enjoy their work and that they truly care about the patients. The nursing staff were excellent! While I hated for my husband to have to be there, the obvious dedication and compassion of the staff made me feel comfortable leaving him in their capable hands. My husband received speech therapy, and, in the short time that he was there, we noticed definite improvements in his speech and comprehension. Occupational therapy and physical therapy also were great--both in the services provided and the advice as to how to adapt his environment and his activities. The facility is very clean, the rooms are spacious, and the dining and lounge areas were comfortable and inviting. My husband enjoyed a variety of foods and was provided with alternatives if he did not want what was on the standard menu. I'm hoping he won't expect that same variety and flexibility now that he's home. If you are in need of a rehabilitation facility, I highly recommend Paramount South Hills.
