I used Fitzpatrick & Associates for my taxes for 2 years, 2014 & 2015. I made & attended the 1st appointment in 2014 without my husband. BTW, time seemed to be split between two offices--an office in Bakersfield (or about) & the one here in SLO. This made it (even) more difficult to reach her. (Now the firm has 4-5 offices.) Fitzpatrick sat & discussed my tax needs. She was professional, polite & accommodating. I think she spent 20-25 minutes discussing our tax situation at our 1st visit. She gave me tips & answered most of my questions to my satisfaction. Later on, I discovered more questions & information to relay regarding our personal tax situation but found Fitzpatrick could not be reached. Though, I must admit I did not try emailing. But for $475 a shot, one would think their tax person would make themselves available for questions & further information. Nope. Didn't happen! In 2015 I allowed my husband to attend to the taxes. English is not his first language but he speaks well enough to hold a position collecting & billing for a major corporation here in SLO, so as you can imagine his communication skills must be up to par. And, this was when Fitzpatrick disappointed us the most. It happened to be the 1st year everyone filing taxes had to provide proof of health insurance (Obama Care). Her office was in complete chaos! This 'proof of insurance' seemed their primary focus, not the real job: gathering, filling out, filing & managing tax returns effectively. Our insurance situation has not changed in 12 years, so this absolutely had no bearing on our individual tax situation! As you can imagine it really irked me to no end!!! My husband felt the communication with Fitzpatrick during his appointment was beyond poor. He felt shuffled around & he felt he could not get answers to even the most basic questions. I attempted to make up for the dreadful lack of communication but I could get no one to respond to me via telephone. I did reach the girl at the front desk but her knowledge & ability to answer my questions related specifically to my tax situation was null. Needless-to-say, last year we left Fitzpatrick. We will not be returning unless we see a substantial increase in reviews that surpass the mediocre service we received for the outrageous price we were charged. Yes, we actually drive 180 miles each way for an extremely competent tax person who answers all our questions & even makes helpful suggestions. He charges us half the price & is available ALL YEAR LONG via telephone, text or email for any question. Even the dumb ones! read more

In my 20+ years filing taxes, I've never had such a horrendous experience. The first and second year. . . Never followed up after my tax meeting, no confirmation that my return was submitted, no explanation of payments. Just an altogether frustrating and unprofessional experience, so for that I believe the quality and value to be very low. And the coup de grace was the third year, when I received a BILL in May for filing an extension on my behalf. . .when I had already filed my taxes with another accounting firm! They filed an extension TODAY THE IRS ON MY BEHLAF WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION. and then BILLED ME FOR IT. Absolutely absurd. This happened to my parents and sister as well. I'm simply at a loss for words. I am wondering if this is a breach of ethics / confidentiality. Hopefully this hasn't impacted anything with the IRS. Maybe they think I'm trying to file and collect tax return twice?? How awful. Needless to say, we have all gone to a different accounting firm. read more

They improperly computed quarterly tax payments and we wound up being penalized and fined by the irs. They also filed our returns late and overcharged us. No response from the management. read more

They may well be the worst accountancy firm I have come across, and I am an attorney, so I have come across many firms. DO NOT use them. They don't respond to emails, charge over $100 for additional copies of documents to be emailed to you, and are just completely unprofessional. read more

This is originally Fitzpatrick and Associates. They changed their name to cover up their incompetence. This company is a complete fraud. I would give 0 stars if I could. They charged my husband and I a fee for completing our 2023 taxes that we never had them do AND sent us to collections even when we asked to prove that they did! This is fraud in all of the definition of the word. Do not ever sign up to do business with these people. Not only will they begin charging for services you never received, but their staff will not help you navigate your issue because they truly have no clue what is going on in that office. Now we are sent to collections for a bill we disputed and called about and their staff doesn't even know about! Take your business elsewhere. We will be opening a lawsuit, anyone else reading this and has had the same issue, please get a hold of us and we will add you to a class action lawsuit we are opening up TOMORROW. read more

Dear Pamela Fitzpatrick, Fitzpatrick Professional Accountancy Address: 755 Santa Rosa St SUITE 200, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401 After years of using your business and trusting you I am in shock at our outcome. I reach out this way because you have not returned my call from September 23rd. It is now Oct. 11th . For our 2019 taxes we pulled out our money in our IRA. We had a check stub from Fedelity stating we paid $10,000 estimated State taxes. You called us on the check stub and was told we paid an estimated state tax and we still needed to pay the Federal taxes. Now jump to the year 2021. We get a letter from the IRS stating the taxes had not been paid for that money. I called you office. Your office helper informs me that your not available and has me to email stuff to her, such as a 1099R form which I had had no idea what that was or where to find it. She informed us to check I agree on the IRS form the IRS sent us and date and sign and get it back in the mail asap. We did that. Oddly enough you taught me a lesson on that one. You taught me not to trust. What you actually did by having us sign that was to say it's our fault and your not to be held responsible. I also learned that it was your job to inform us when we discussed it in 2020 for the 2019 taxes to inform us that we needed to get an 1099R form and where to find it. We pay the IRS and then I find it that did not include the State taxes, nor did your helper bother to tell us that. I call again and find you sold your business here in my city. They do your job and after he talks to you decides to charge me. You told him we never gave you anything on the IRS withdrawal. So not only did you not do your job, you lied. I would not recommend you. read more

Fitzpatrick Professional Accountancy LLP (FPA) was recommended to me by a friend back in December 2017. An accounting report was needed to allow our lawyer to finalize a trust my parents left after passing on. The initial meeting went well. When work needed to be done and the clock was started, the whole relationship disintegrated. I was pushed off to some assistant at another office in the central valley. Not only did he repeat himself ad nauseum, he failed to provide the best information for me (which would financially benefit FPA). When the work was complete, I received a VERY expensive bill on a Monday. Someone from FPA called my house the same day and left a message about paying my bill. I was stunned! Wanting payment on the same day the invoice shows up in the mail! Then, believe it or not, it got even worse. THE VERY NEXT DAY my lawyer received a call from FPA asking her to pay the bill on my behalf! WHAT?!?! I left a message for Pamala Fitzpatrick to give me a call. I was not going to pay a thing until I voiced my objections to her business practices. It took many, many days but it was worth the wait. I wish I could leave zero stars. Needless to say, but I very much regret ever taking the advice of my dear friend. Caveat Emptor! read more

I do not recommend this accountancy. They make decisions such as filing for extensions without client consent or knowledge. we were told we were not able to speak to the accountant preparing our taxes and the only information given was 'we'll have them done sometime before September'. The owner seemed annoyed at us voicing our concerns. read more
