I had Rik look over my Closing Disclosure for a refinance that I signed with a notary the day before. Not only did Rik let me know I was seriously being ripped off, he offered to beat the rate and price that nobody else could match and to expedite the process immediately and close my loan within 2 weeks. I happen to be living in Northern California and he was in Southern California which made no difference whatsoever.   After completing my online application, I can tell you that Rik and his team worked around the clock to close my loan in 2 weeks just like he said. The communication I received from Rik and his team was friendly and professional of the highest standards! I never felt like there was any lack of communication. The backstory is that we originally were working with a different mortgage officer for a different company, but she warned that we weren't going to be able to make the closing date. That freaked us out, and our realtor recommended we switch to Dave. I'm so glad she did, because Dave really stepped in and got things done, as soon as possible. It's like he had a fire lit under his butt and needed to move move move. We really appreciated that. He pushed us to get things turned around quickly, and he pushed everyone else involved in our transaction (especially the escrow company, which was having issues). On his own initiative he contacted the relevant parties (e.g., the escrow company, our financial advisor, our insurance agent) when things were unclear or when they needed to be pushed. And we were able to make our closing date with days to spare, with a solid mortgage at a very competitive interest rate. Dave took the time to explain the complexities and walk us through things, while also pushing things along and sending us reminders when we were forgetful. One thing I especially appreciated is that he acted as our advocate and gave us advice, rather than being tight-lipped and trying to cover his own butt. In other words, he acted as if he wanted us to get a loan and get the house, and his job was to help us make that happen, rather than trying to protect the bank from all possible risks and just make money for the bank. If you are thinking of buying a home or doing any kind of business that requires attention to…read moredetail and correct documentation, do NOT use this company. They are extremely disorganized and terribly incompetent. When it comes to explaining information they give you a beat around the bush answer, if you even get an answer. For instance I noticed that I had a discrepancy in my final disclosure document, I asked how that happened (the amount I should've been charged was $80, the amount I was charged was $650). When I asked Blake Crossman ("loan officer") to explain to me why there was a discrepancy he told me they'll fix it later... notice how I asked why and not if it will be fixed later. I explained my frustrations up until that point because every time I had a question about the process or status of any documents it was an absolute pull of teeth. Blake's response to me was "I don't know why you're so stressed". I let him know this was very unprofessional. They are solely for profit with no regard for the customer, their timelines as far as moving or settling any issues. When I asked to speak with a manager, he gave me his peer Edith. Edith seemed to try and help but she was also very confused and elderly. We were supposed to close at the end of the month and it was delayed 5 days due to DG changing the date on my home insurance to a day later than anticipated with absolutely no communication. I incurred a $1200 mover rescheduling fee of which DG did not care so luckily the realtors split it for me from their commission out of the goodness of their hearts. I incurred additionally rental fees due to living in the home extra time than agreed upon with my previous landlord. Understandably, I was absolutely furious. I sent an email outlining my concerns to both Edith and Blake. No response to my request for a supervisor. It wasn't until DG needed me for something that they had a 3rd random other employee who was not involved during the escrow process send me a brand new email not on the chain. And eventually sent me a supervisor point of contact. NEVERRRR use DG. Blake Crossman, you are never entitled to tell someone how they should feel. Ms. Edith you were ok but you enable Blake and his shortcomings. Overall the entire company needs better customer service training and attention to detail, especially given the nature of business they are in. The business they do affects people's livelihoods and assets. Once again STEER CLEAR. And in the event you run into Blake Crossman on a solo mission outside of DG, BEWARE.

Warning about Mortgage One…read more I want to share my recent experience so others don't go through the same thing. In July 2025, I started working with Mortgage One through loan officer Mark Butrus. On July 31, I gave my credit card information to his processor to pay for an appraisal. The appraisal was completed, and Mortgage One even told me they would cover the cost of the follow-up visit. A short time later, I decided to switch to Turbo Mortgage because their rates and fees were much better. After that, things took a very troubling turn. On August 18, I received a fraud alert from my credit card company: a $496.55 charge attempt to the City of Warren (Michigan electric company). I live in Georgia and have no ties to Warren, MI. The only people who had my card information were at Mortgage One. When I questioned Mark about this, he denied any involvement, but the timing and location are extremely suspicious. Using a customer's credit card information for unauthorized charges is fraud. I am considering filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau, CFPB, and law enforcement. I'm posting this to warn others: be very careful who you trust with your personal and financial information. My experience with Mortgage One has been extremely disappointing and concerning.

I would give Vantex 6 stars if I could. He looks out for his investors and borrowers as well. I feel very fortunate to have found an ethical company that I can use to find safe investments for my money. There are a lot of unethical hard money lending companies out there. I went through 3 before finding Vantex. He returns calls promptly and his staff are wonderful as well. I didn't want to go into the stock market in 2007 when interest rates tanked, so I decided on first trust deeds. They are a great investment if you can find an ethical company. Vantex is that company. I know, this review may sound over the top, but I mean every word of it.
