I think I've been here enough times to give this place a review…read more I recently moved to the area and was looking for a new gym. I know there's a lifetime nearby too but it's so ridiculously overpriced and I don't use all the amenities to validate going there (having been a previous member). I love that wild horse is just a 6 minute drive from the house. It's usually the hardest part of going to workout - getting there, but it's so easy and there's always a parking spot open close to the door (since weather is in single digits!!) I'd say I go during odd hours since I have a hybrid work schedule. 11:30-2pm have 12+ people but it's never too crowded that I have to wait for a machine to be free (excluding today where everyone collectively decided to workout arms like me!) and 4-6p is when it gets a little busier, I bet due to people getting off work and wanting to get their workout in. Machines are clean as well as locker rooms. Towels are always available once you walk down to the floor or hit up the locker room to put your stuff away. There are cubbies where you can quickly stash your belongings as well. There are also jacket hooks in the locker room for colder seasons. The staff are all nice and friendly! The members are too! There's a wide array of machines for every muscle or variations of ones you've probably seen at other gyms. A ton of life fitness machines, free weights, cables, treadmills, ellipticals, stair masters, you name it, they've got it! Couples membership is around $130/month plus $100~ sign up fee Worth it to stay or get in the best shape of your life!

They're great for stretching, yoga, barre, and are typically not crowded. You should definitely check out this gym! Ps the patio is great!

When I tell you that Blue Ocean has changed my life, I really mean it…read more My two closest friends started working out here a couple of years ago, and after finally giving in to peer pressure, I decided to give it a shot last January. I'm coming up on my one year mark and I can honestly say it has been one of the best things I've ever done for myself! I never felt great about any gyms I've belonged to in the past. I'm not a huge group class person, and personal training has always been $$$$$. Enter: semi-personal training! Basically, each of the trainers here has a few clients at one time, but it still feels, well... personal. You get your own workout, there are just others around you doing theirs, and it actually adds a fun element of community at the same time. Instead of working out so hard that you can barely walk the next morning, the approach here is more reasonable and based on intentional repetition vs. killing yourself. I typically do three circuits made up of 3-4 exercises, 3-4 times each. My muscle growth has been slow but extremely consistent, and I'm finally seeing the exact results I've always wanted. Working out three times per week at Blue Ocean has kept me feeling so strong and healthy. As a bonus, when I have to travel for work, I can pause my membership--and they even give me workouts to do on the road. The trainers are fantastic people, and the clientele is great, too. I look forward to belonging to Blue Ocean for a long time!

I showed up and the front desk proceeded to tell me it's three CONSECUTIVE days. I thought I must have overlooked it but upon checking the pass and the website, I can't find anywhere where it says that. So my first issue of that's the case is it should be made more clear. I then decided I had come this far and would eat the ten dollar one time charge. Was meeting a friend there to workout like the first time. And our kids would play together. The front desk the stopped me and said sorry, we can't take your kid unless you have a membership. Look, it wasnt the end of the world but it was a waste of time. .I'm surprised they did not make an exception as it ses clear it's not a liability issue it's a money issue. Anyways, I'd just try to. More clear on that. I was l close to cancelling orange theory in lieu of CF but given that I couldn't even get a hold of an actual person at the location to discuss it seems that avoiding clients is the MO

The manager Josh is rude, inconsiderate and full of himself. This location left such a bad taste in my mouth that I'll be canceling my membership and moving over to Crunch Fitness or Lifetime. If you're going to stay a member, stick with other locations. Club on K in O'Fallon is much better and the staff are great. It's also much bigger.

I have never had to wait for a machine or give mine up after 30 minutes, and they have lots of TVs and machines with TVs on them, so your TV fix is set. The best thing about this location is their morning cycling classes with Lynn, who is a WONDERFUL cycling instructor. Let's face it, some cycling instructors suck. Lynn creates well-planned cycling classes and sets them to good, upbeat music that almost makes you forget what a crazy workout you're getting. Plus, the classes are free with membership so you can go all you want. So if you want a really unpretentious place to work out without feeling out of place amidst the triathletes and body builders, the Wildwood YMCA is for you.

Management was friendly when I signed up. Had to re-locate to this one after the one in St. Charles closed down. They only have one power rack (plus a Smith, which I don't count). There's no deadlift platform, nor are there bumper plates. Fortunately, it has been pretty empty when I've gone, so there hasn't been a wait for the one rack. Ideally, though, they would get rid of the single-use bench, (or just move it over by the dumbells) and invest in another power rack like the one by the bathrooms. That way you could squat, bench, or press in both locations (or deadlift, since there's no platform). Oh yeah, of the two barbells, the gray one is in passable condition, but the chrome one is bent to the point that it is visible to the naked eye--so might not want to squat with that one. Overall though, it has worked ok when I've been here, so 4 stars.

I really wanted to like this place…read more.. As big as it looks on the outside, I felt kind of claustrophobic inside because all the machines were so bunched up together. It definitely attracts a specific crowd. I didn't feel intimidated because I'm so used to going to different gyms having moved around a lot, but I could see how one may be turned off by the vibe. I personally appreciated the metal music because it made me want to push myself, but not for everyone. I went with a friend because she wanted to check it out and she did end up signing up out of convenience being close by her work but she ended up cancelling. There was a woman who was just working out that offered to show us how to use a machine I'd never seen before. She was very friendly and so happened to be an instructor so we knew we were being taught correctly. It wasn't as crowded as club fitness, but definitely more serious gym goers.
