My fiancé and I hired Katie Fowler last summer to represent us in a child custody case for his 2 kids. We hired her based on reviews and also her education, which was our first mistake. I will never hire another attorney unless they have been personally recommended by a friend or family member. She seemed very nice and competent during our initial consultation and we had high hopes that she was going to help us. Listen closely if you are thinking of hiring her. I hope I can save others from the pure hell that she put us through for 6 months and now have nothing to show for it!! She neglected our case from day ONE and essentially stole thousands of dollars from us and did nothing. Her performance, or lack there of, was so poor that we had no other choice but to fire her a few weeks before our court date, which had already been continued 3 times. I cannot even begin to tell you how bad of an attorney she is. We actually questioned at one point if she even had a law degree because she was so incompetent. Her communication was horrible and she kept us in the dark for months about what was going on with our case. She never called when she said she would and was blindsided every single time our case was continued, telling us she didn't know why. We were so frustrated and upset and let her know several times, but she did not care and did nothing to improve. We are very reasonable, professional, and competent people and this case was extremely important to us. What is more important than your kids?!? We hired a new attorney, based off several personal recommendations, the day after we fired Katie and she did more for us in 2 weeks than Katie did in 6 months!! Our new attorney called the courthouse, during our 1 hour consultation, and found out a lot of our unanswered questions about why our case had been continued so many times. She let us know that we actually never had a court date because Katie didn't go through the proper channels to schedule one. Do you know how angry we were when we heard that for 6 months we never actually had a court date like Katie led us to believe?!? Our new attorney was shocked when we presented our case to her and she kept shaking her head in disbelief that Katie had done nothing. We complained about Katie to one of the owners of the law firm and he was so arrogant and rude. He defended her even after everything that we told him was going on and they did nothing to make this right!! We told him that we wanted our money back because she did not do her job and Katie emailed us and said she would not give it back. She never addressed any of our concerns, never apologized, took ZERO accountability. Not only are we out the thousands that we paid Katie, but then we essentially had to start over and hire a new attorney and spend even more. We are so angry and frustrated that she is allowed to do this to people with no consequences. This whole case has been so emotional and then we had to deal with a scam artist attorney. There are many more reasons why we fired her, but I don't have enough room to list them all. I really hope I save others from making the same mistake. Do not hire Katie Fowler!! read more

I approached Mr. Fitzgerald about a potential lawsuit against a major corporation. The issues involved my elderly mother, as well as friends of mine. This was a serious, complicated problem and I needed a capable and experienced attorney. I expected that if he were not capable of handling such a case, that he would let me know upfront. Instead, he told me that I had no chance of winning and would not be able to find any reputable lawyer who would be willing to take on this case. At one point, he actually made a stereotype comment about my religion bordering on a slur and at another point he attacked my virility. In addition, he advised me to seek psychotherapy. I was shocked by his behavior. I managed to continue to seek legal advice elsewhere and found a highly reputable law firm that has taken on my case. I sent an email to Mr. Fitzgerald asking for a refund of his consultation fee. I explained to him in my email that the basis for my refund request was that his comments on my religion were unprofessional and unethical, and that he had not been able to admit that my case was beyond his level of ability. Instead of defending his performance and behavior, I received a very long, disorganized email reply in which he not only refused a refund, but in which he corroborated most of my original complaint. For instance, he insulted me by repeating his comment that I needed psychotherapy. He also lied to me about the basic facts of the consultation. This is an unethical, incompetent, and dishonest attorney. The law firm bears his name, so I think that it must also be of questionable quality. read more
