Incredibly frustrating.
My brother in law initially made contact but I followed up with Gary later in the day to talk details. He through what would happen with the inspection, assured me he has been doing this for many years and asked me to reserve a time on his website, though I told him exactly when and where. When I told him the website was not working, he was surprised, saying he would check on that but said I could confirm via text message. We never exchanged emails, which becomes important for this narrative.
I texted him minutes later for the details and he confirmed for 10 a.m. on the day of the appointment. We needed an inspection done at a specific time and on a specific day. Gary was one of the two who could accommodate, which we were thankful for. He acknowledged the text and I thought everything would be OK...until he didn't show up at 10 or 10:30 or 10:45. I called and texted him four times, concerned that the current homeowner would leave and that our small inspection window would be closed.
He finally called back hours later and initially tried to blame me by saying he confirmed a time via email the night before. That NEVER happened because he never had my email. It was a flat out lie. Eventually he did say the mixup was his fault and that he was available for the rest of the day, asking when we needed him there. I said, Now, we need you now. You asked me again when, I said, Now! Please head over there. You either couldn't hear me or never acknowledged, though I suppose when you said, OK, I took that for a Yes.
Somehow now (11:30 a.m.) turned into 1:45 or 2. He finally did the inspection, sent the report and let me know details. He did apologize, though after initially blaming me and falling short on almost every line of communication, I can say I will not be using him again and would others to be wary. read more
