I had a great experience at Fitness Town in Burnaby. I've been to this location several times, and the guys are all incredibly helpful. Milton helped me choose a squat rack and some other fitness equipment, and even looked up a replacement part online while I was perusing (when I hadn't even asked him) after mentioning my rower's computer was defective. I love rowing as I was a member of the Vancouver yacht and rowing club for years. When I'm at the gym the very last machine I cool down with is the rowing machine as I find it really relaxing. I was watching House of Cards on Netflix and saw the water rower and fell in love instantly. I had to find out everything about this rower, I did my research and called to see who sold it. Fitness town was one of the very few companies that sold it locally. I gave them the model I wanted and paid for it over the phone. I had free delivery and installation included. It was delivered to me 2 days later !!! The sales agent was extremely nice and helpful. I was nervous about visiting this store, as my husband and I are not fit. We want to get there, which is why we needed Fitness Town's help. But I sort of expected fit, lovely, muscleheaded people who would look down on our pudgy selves. But no! Patrick (who is a certified personal trainer and clearly knows his stuff) was awesome. He didn't sell us more stuff than we needed, answered all of our questions and knew the right weights and sizes for us. He also recommended the P90x system - a "personal trainer in a box". It's pretty daunting, but he really recommended it and said he'd never had complaints, so we're excited to try it. Best of all, he recommened a "marathon stick" for my husband's ongoing ankle/calf problems and he was exactly right. It was quite amazing, from my husband's brief description of the injury, Patrick knew exactly what was needed and my husband's been gratefully using the massaging stick all week. I'm hoping as we get into shape, we'll be making more visits to Fitness Town (and singing "Won't you take me to Fitness-TOWN" to the tune of Funkytown, because that's the kind of folks we are). read more

I am updating my review from 1 star to 3 stars. I appreciate the response received from Dai at Fitness Town. I have returned to the store and exchange my unopened/unused yoga mat. I'm happy with my new yoga mat. Thank you! Original Review: I went into this store looking for a yoga mat. While I was looking and I found one I liked, a salesperson walked up to me and asked me what I was looking for. I told him a yoga mat and asked if the mat I was looking at could be washed. He didn't answer my question and proceeded to show me the yoga mat he uses. He told me all about the mat he uses and that it was on sale. I purchased the mat he suggested, but when I got home I was looking at the mat and it has straps. Straps that will get in the way when I'm actually using the mat. I don't travel with the mat so it makes no sense for me to have a mat with straps. I contacted the store that same afternoon asking if I could return the item, as I had not opened it or used it. It has been 4 business days and no one at the company has contacted me back. When purchasing the item I wasn't told it was a final sale and I wasn't told a yoga mat cannot be exchanged or refunded. I read over my receipt and it says no exchanges or refunds for yoga mat because of hygienic reasons. Poor service. read more

The other customer paid and left and still no one approached me. I walked to the counter to ask for assistance and the guy asked turns to his buddy to tell him the 'take it'. You guys rock! I had a great experience when I showed up at Fitness Town Burnaby for the first time. I started getting into lifting seriously and needed to get myself stocked up with some necessary accessories. I had a good idea what I was looking for but needed some assistance with finding it all and making sure it was the right tool for the job. When I showed up I was greeted with smiling faces - definitely a nice way to start begin my experience. I immediately asked one of the guys at the front to help me find what I needed rather than wondering around the store aimlessly. Lou came out onto the floor to show me everything I was looking for.
