I was surprised this place was so dirty. The tanning room is absolutely disgusting and has mouse traps I didn't see until I was done and trying to get dressed. I have never ever seen such a dirty tanning room. I will add the pictures to show you. I didn't see all the dirt and crap until I was in the machine and it all started blowing. I got out immediately. The two treadmills I tried made a loud cranking sound. It was louder than my music I had playing. I am really sad and disappointed this place is as dirty and broke down as it is. The location is great. The older lady at the desk was nice but that's all the good I can say about it. Definitely a no go!! read more

Place was well run, everything was very clean and organized. Staff is super friendly. Bathroom was immaculately clean here in Front Royal Va. read more

Friendly staff, good variety of exercise equipment. A great place to work out in Front Royal.

Ownership is wonderful and engaging. Gym is clean, friendly, Large with many amenities.

Fitness evolution is really quite a good gym. No contract. Ample weight lifting equipment - 2 squat racks, 2 barbell benches, leg press. Plenty of machines. The only thing that I see they are lacking is a deadlift area. They also have plenty of cardio equipment. I'm surprised it's only $30 a month for the amenities they have. Update It's more of an average gym. The locker room and bathroom are constantly dirty. No matter what time of day I go, they play the same 20 pop songs over and over -demotivating for a workout. Only 2 members of the staff routinely greet the gym members. The staff do not enforce any of the rules in the weight room, which results in machines and barbells loaded with weight but not in use. People constantly leave their gym bags all over the place because the staff never enforce the rules. Overall an average gym. read more

Overall good facility...large cardio area, separate women's' area, tanning beds, massage chair, and decent locker room (I can obviously only attest to the women's'). I use the childcare 3 nights a week and never have had an issue. My 3 year old daughter loves going and gets upset if I go without her. There's also two personal training rooms, two group class rooms, and two more weights/free weights areas. I think it's the best for your money in the area. read more

First of all, IF YOU HAVE KIDS STAY AWAY! I witnessed a nursery worker grab my 2 yr old by her arm and drag her across the floor. It turns out she wanted her to pick up a toy and my daughter refused so she grabbed her arm, made her pick up the toy and the dragged her by her arm across the room to put the toy away. When I said dragged I mean my daughter had no footing and was being dragged. I brought this to the attention of management and in the end they sided with the abusive staff member saying that her story and my story didn't match up. IM SURE THEY DIDNT! What child abuser is going to admit to being abusive and lose their job?? So instead of management insuring the safety of the children that are in the nursery and replacing this abusive employee, they decided to terminate my contract. read more

The gym recently closed off a large room with a punching bag, ropes, squat racks, etc. which it now says is for personal training only. The room was about a quarter of the gym and had most of the equipment I liked to come there for. Now it sits dark and unoccupied most of the time. The gym could be much better if they didn't have more than half of it closed off for various reasons. What's left is not a whole lot of equipment or room for stretching. Please reopen this room to your members! read more

I never felt very welcome when I came here. I had a membership, but I always felt like I didn't belong because when I would walk in I was never greeted. As a first time customer I was able to sign up and pay my fee, but I was never given a tour so I was lost. Very u professional. read more

I went in to close my gym membership due to enrolling in something that worked better for me. Christopher Frye assisted me with closing my account, I have never been treat so poorly in my life. He has the worst customer service ever and should never be allowed to work with the public. Then he goes on to tell me they will charge me and extra 2 months when I only have to give a thirty day notice. I question this and he pretty much tells me it does not matter because they can charge me what they want! Never did he ask me why I was leaving nothing and I had to request something stating I closed it. This place needs to hire better people who want the business to succeeded!!! read more

I wanted to like this gym but, after being a member for more than a year, I decided to take my business elsewhere. Why? Behind the trendy wall colors and slick flat-screen TVs is a gym that is mismanaged to the point of being irresponsible. Group exercise classes so overcrowded as to be unsafe, with not enough space to move. Small children (under 10 years of age) permitted by management in the group exercise rooms -- while classes are going on! Out-of-shape, ill-prepared instructors. Broken equipment that goes unfixed (for example, the main drinking fountains were "out of order" for nearly one year). Dirty group exercise room (unclean floors, dead bugs in lights) and men's shower stalls that stink of mildew. And, worst of all, management that does nothing to correct these situations after being notified repeatedly. Do yourself a favor -- before you sign on the dotted line, look elsewhere. There are better gyms in the area. read more

I love this gym! Spacious, clean, with good rooms for exercise classes. There is also a separate gym just for women. I like the class schedule - a lot of offerings with different instructors - and the gym has a great sense of community. Decorations are put out for the various holidays and it seems like there is always a fundraiser going on for local causes. Did I mention the massage chair? The cost might be too much for some at $29.99 a month but that includes most classes as well as access to all Fitness Evolution gyms. I recommend it highly. read more

I came to Golds Gym in Front Royal on the evening of Dec 15, hoping to get more info on a membership with the gym. A coworker of mine said we had a corporate discount there, which included a waived up-front fee, lower monthly payments, and no contract required. Katie Johnson helped me. I use the word 'helped', loosely. She went through the 'deal' with me, including many trips back to talk with her manager to make sure she had the right numbers. In the end, it seemed as if I wasn't getting any better of a deal that someone would walking in off the street. I didn't get my up-front fee waived. But, we didn't discuss a contract, so I figured I was probably golden in that aspect. So, I thought I'd give it a try anyway and asked for a 7-day trial. Katie went back to the front desk, came back, and started handing me a card. Then, before I could take it, she pulled it back and said something almost unintelligible about me giving it back to her and getting some kind of a discount for the first month. I didn't understand what she was saying and, at any rate, wasn't interested in signing up without the trial. After making a couple of attempts to understand what she was trying to tell me, it became clear that she was irritated with me for not understanding her. She was extremely rude. When she finally realized that I wasn't interested in giving up the trial period, she went back to the front desk AGAIN to fill out the card while I waited. She gave me my card and I went on my way, with a promise to come back and work out soon. When I looked at the card later on that night, I noted that she had included the 15th in my trial period. We had a snow storm the next day and I wasn't able to make it back to the gym for several days. When I came for my first workout, Katie's manager was gracious enough to give me a new 7-day trial card. He seems like a pretty cool guy--always friendly. Katie, on the other hand, seemed to sneer at me every time I saw her. She seems to have a real attitude problem. Anyway, at that time I also asked about a corporate membership through my other place of employment--the local county government office. Manager said the deal was the same or not as good--he wasn't sure. Strange...I gave up and did my workout. I came back for another visit and enjoyed myself. So, the next time I came back--Dec 29--I asked to sign up for a membership. Katie 'helped' me, again. Once again, she had to check with management to find out what the deal was, now. Apparently, she had no plans to honor the numbers we discussed the first time. As luck would have it, the numbers were the same. *whew* She took my drivers license and got the process started. I wrote out my check for the up-front fee and first-month's payment. And as we chatted, I noticed that she appeared to be writing up a contract...when I asked about it--nicely--she said absolutely, a 12-month contract was required, unless I'd like to pay more per month--nasty, again. I asked to speak to the manager. He said the same thing. When I tried to explain why I thought there was no contract required to get the price quoted me, it was pretty clear I wasn't going to get anywhere and I just kind of lost steam. Katie silently put my drivers license on the counter in front of me with a seemingly vindicated and dismissive air. Rude, again. I decided not to sign up and walked out. I have to say that this was a pretty disappointing experience. I won't be back and I will be telling my story to friends. read more

This gym made for a great stop as part of a road trip. Spacious, clean, affordable, hot showers, and friendly staff.

Joined in January, cancelled in May due to poor customer relations and lack of support from staff. Equipment nice and overall clean place, but always concerned more about profits than the customer. National fitness program was a scam and intended only to sell personal training time, diet workshops, memberships, etc. Personal trainers are more like cheerleaders. Couldn't even purchase a scale to replace one that was stolen, (a member brought one in). 85 degrees and doors were opened, but a/c not turned on. Great place if your a member of the click group or you know what you're doing coming in. Not people oriented staff and care more that you show up and pay up than anything else. Very much about salesmanship and marketing hype to get you in the door. I've seen much better more for your money. read more
