I called on December 2nd to cancel my membership. I understand I was charged on December 1st, which is fine. However, the representative informed me that because I didn't call on the 1st, I will still be charged again on January 1st, and my membership will not end until January 31st. I have been to gyms all over the country. I travel a lot and want to stay on a routine. This is the one and only gym I have ever been to that charges more than a year's membership to work out for 3 days. Planet fitness will give you a free week and after that it is only $10 a month, cancel anytime. I used to come here every year and it was always free for the week. Definitely not coming back with all the gyms and fitness classes around in the area. They also raised their yearly membership. Explains why the gym is always empty now. read more

My sister and I were in town visiting my mother for her 65th birthday and she wanted to share her experience of Zumba class with us while we were here. She goes everyday to this gym and has a lifetime membership with them that allows 2 guests free so we showed up excited to check out the class. They denied us access to the class because we were not local residents and tried to charge us $25/person for a guest pass. They said their policy/insurance doesn't cover guests that aren't local. I'm not sure if this is accurate or not but I dont understand the difference of us being a guest that doesn't pay verse a guest that does and how that legally changes the insurance coverage. It doesn't seem right. A year ago I was able to go for the same class at the same location with the same instructor with my mom as a guest and had no issues. It was fun and I got a good workout. It's unfortunate that this time my sister and I couldn't have a similar experience and fulfill my mom's birthday wish to share this experience. The manager didn't even bother to check her membership to confirm. All the issues caused her to miss part of the class as well. As someone who has a similar role in customer service I know there are ways to handle this situation better which is why I'm disappointed. For many folks that have been in the Clear Lake area for the last 20 years, this is the old Bally Total Fitness. That being said, for the price of a membership, you get a good range of amenities. Sauna, basketball court, indoor track, indoor cycling as well as Les Mills and Zumba group classes. It's generally very busy, but they have multiple duplicate pieces of strength training on th first floor as well as a women's only workout/cardio area. The 2nd floor has free weights, tons of cardio equipment and a circuit style hydraulic resistance area. Overall for the price, it's a great deal. read more

Fitness Connection GYM ARE THIEVES I am not one to come and bash anybody... if anything, I try and promote any business or restaurant I've been to and I believe would be beneficial for others to know about. But Fitness Connection on 45... that's a whole other story. I joined them... I want to say summer of 2021 I believe, I was trying to get healthy again and after going and checking out some local gyms, they "seemed" like the best bang for my buck... little did I know that the best bang would be to my bank account months after leaving the gym. In May of this year I decided to cancel my membership, I wanted to join a gym closer to home, that was open 24 hrs. First I tried to call and see if I could cancel my membership over the phone, but the lady that answered, said I had to go cancel in person. So I did... I went into the gym the next day and spoke to a dark haired girl... skinny... caucasion... I WISH I had asked for her name... never did I think I had to. Anyhow... I told her I was there to cancel my membership and she said not a problem. I gave her my information, she got on the computer and after a few minutes, she said it was done and I said thank you and went about my way. Well... fast forward to October of this year, I just so happen to open my bank statement and lo and behold... I see a charge for a monthly membership fee for Fitness Connection. When I first saw it, I figured it had to have been a mistake or something... so I went back to check my previous monthly statements and what do I find... you may ask yourself... FITNESS CONNECTION NEVER STOPPED BILLING MY ACCOUNT!!! They had been charging me a monthly membership fee non-stop... as if I had never stopped going there. 5... WHOLE... MONTHS... after I went in, in person and cancelled my account. So of course... what would anybody do in that situation? I call Fitness Connection to find out what exactly is going on. I call and I explained to the gentleman that answered what happened and he said let me check it out... after a few moments he said (and I quote), "it looks like she might have started the process of canceling your account, but never finished it..." Honestly... I was dumb founded... I was like huh? What do you mean the process was started but never finished?!?! He said that's what it looked like and that I'd have to talk to a manager... so he has me speak to Elijah... the "club manager". One would think that a "CLUB MANAGER" could actually correct something and refund me all my money they had stolen from me... but noooo... Elijah basically says... there isn't anything I can do about it, call customer service. So I do... And after waiting for over 30 mins each time... because there were multiple calls made, customer service said that becasue the process wasn't finished to cancel my account, then there is nothing they can do to refund me my money. I told them and I've told Elijah to check the security cameras... they will see me walk in and talk to the girl in the front. NOW... if she didn't do her job and still said it was done, how is that my fault? I did everything they asked me to do. Well that was in October... I went in there and talked to Elijah in person... I called day after day to wait on him getting responses from his district manager and when he finally did... it was a basic... screw you... we won't be giving you a refund. But... this is where it just plainly got insulting... They apparently "cancelled my account... AGAIN..." last month when they said the process hadn't been finished back in May. So this time they "actually closed my account"... or so I thought. YESTERDAY... November 1, 2022... I so happen to open my bank statement again... and WHAT DO I FIND??? FITNESS CONNECTION HAS CHARGED ME AGAIN!!! After last months fiasco... I was just going to write it off and let it go. But now... it's just insulting... a smack in the face. So I have now decided I'm going to take it upon myself to let anybody and everybody know about what they do there when you try to cancel your membership and to be wary before signing up at Fitness Connection. This is definitely the best Fitness Connection I've been to so far. I went around 2:00p and left before the 5:00p crowd started to arrive. The setup is pretty awesome and I really enjoyed the indoor track (I get bored on the treadmill sometimes). The other locations are usually pretty crowed and sometimes I'm waiting on a machine, but not at this location and probably because I went during a less crowded time. There are plenty machines, a nice size sauna compared to the other locations and the theater room in the women's workout area was super awesome. So far my only dislike is the request for a neck pad. If you need a neck pad for the barbell area you have to give your ID to the front desk. I don't walk around the gym with my ID and I didn't want to stop my workout to go get it out of my locker (I was in my zone). Also, they don't offer yoga :-( and I assume because it's a fairly new gym. Overall, the gym is pretty cool and I would highly recommend it. NOTE: I'm curious to know why none of the FC locations have a pool. Water aerobics is a great workout. read more

I was a member of 24 hour fitness and planet fitness. I enjoyed planet fitness and appreciate the cleanliness and the great staff, but they didn't have much options for equipment. I left 24 hour because the gym was filthy, the staff was incompetent and everything was broke (they are now closed). Fitness Connection has lots of equipment that is in good repair. I was waiting for this fitness connection locations to open for a few months. I was kinda just gym hopping, I couldn't find one that I really liked. FINALLY this one opened up and it's been my go-to gym since. It looks like they completely gutted the old gym that was here, they got rid of the pool! That's probably the only negative thing I have to say about the gym itself. Everyone has been super friendly and not overbearing like some places. Theres another gym close by that the trainers are like used car salesman, they HOUND you down trying to get you to use the personal trainer service. This fitness connection has the personal trainers, but they leave you alone for the most part. Ive only gotten spoken to once by one and he was just asking about the Houston Weightlifting shirt I was wearing that day. There are plenty of machines and free weights to use, Ive not had to wait to use anything. Upstairs is the track and cardio machines. Again, there are plenty of those too, no waiting to use any equipment. The spin studio is also upstairs, I swear I almost died taking a spin class, so I won't be doing that at this gym. The Zumba classes are downstairs next to the women's gym. I was really pleasantly surprised with the amount of equipment in there. It pretty much covers an all body workout. My kids LOVE the daycare area at this location. It has a bunch of ipads for them to use, a basketball court, and even a movie room with theater like seating. The ladies in there already know my kids and the kids are pretty comfortable in there. The hours on the weekends could be a little better, it would be nice if they opened later than 8pm on Saturday and Sunday. Also, if you sign a month to month contract, you will need 30 day notice to cancel. I think that's pretty standard and not that big of a deal. The entitlement of some people and them thinking it shouldn't apply to them is outrageous. Just take the free 5 day pass before doing this. It's not that difficult. read more

I workout after work (6:20-7:45). The gym is always packed. The gym etiquette is not great here. Men won't unload their weight after their sets, forcing me to take multiple 45 plates off. They have 4 squat racks in the entire gym, and rarely can you get a spot on them due to gym etiquette. Female bathrooms smell pretty bad. Worst gym membership experience yet. I love this gym! I've been a member of several types of gyms in the past - hole in the wall gyms, close to work gyms, and luxury gyms. But this FC location is by far my favorite! It has huge windows on two sides of the gym, so it lets in tons of sunlight - I always hate working out in dimly lit gyms - especially at night. It's also great because it has an indoor walking track on the second floor that is perfect for walking on something other than a treadmill - and in all kinds of weather! The staff is all super nice! I take my kids with me on weekends and it's perfect because they can hang out in the free kids club while I get my workout in. And they're not just parked in front of a tv in there - they have their own basketball court, coloring stations, and iPads too. The gym is clean. The staff is helpful. And they have tons of equipment, so that crazy after work rush when everyone works out doesn't effect my workout at all. I'm always able to get the equipment I need and not have to wait! This is the cheapest I've ever paid for a gym membership ($10 per month) and it's worth ten times this much! read more

He really listened to me & had me doing things specifically for the areas I wanted. He was encouraging yet pushed me to give it my all! He was fabulous! It's one of the better gym I go to. The place used to be a Bally's Fitness and Blast Fitness. I like how they stylized and freshed up the place that used to be so dull and dim. My first gym was Fitness Connection Pasadena so this one is much closer to me now! I was with the second Blast Fitness but it had closed down. I only knew that Blast was transferring all of their clients to Fitness Connection by their website and a notice taped to their closed doors. Honestly, I'm glad I got transfered into this gym since everything was new and I had past experience with the company. For $10/month, it's a good deal for what they offer. For better deals, try waiting for the $0-$10 initial/enrollment fee and $10/month before applying (instead of $140 initial fee). Like most gyms, there will be an annual fee and ask about those (ranging $30-$60 per year). Upsides: 1. The equipment is new and up-to-date 2. The weights are reracked and the dumbbells don't go missing/misplaced 3. Indoor track upstairs 4. Women's room has their own personal equipment and a theater room full of cardio machines 5. Great, stylized mirror/sink area in the locker rooms. 6.Each locker room has a sauna 7. Basketball court 8. The group exercise room is beautiful, spacious, and full of equipment. 9. There are spray bottles and trashcans available so it's a huge bonus when people clean after using the equipment. Overall, the place is usually clean. 10. So many treadmills, stair masters, and spin bikes upstairs. There is no wait. Downsides: 1. It isn't 24 hours 2. Weekend hours (ends at 8pm) are shorter to the weekdays (ends at 12pm) 3. No pool if you're into that 4. Not enough power cages and squat racks to go around What could make this review a 5 star rating: -More power cages and squat racks with platforms on the main floor Maybe an additional +1 of each? There are four benches but only one power cage and two squat rack platforms that can be also used for dead lifting. While Blast Fitness had two cages, a designated dead lift area, and four squat racks. It would help with squatting/dead lifting for others to be more available since those sets can take awhile. read more

I love coming here due to the massive amount of equipment they have but I cancelled because they force you to wear your mask and gloves which I think is pointless. Mask is understandable. Wearing your gloves is equivalent to using your bare hands. If I cough on my gloves and touch the equipment, does that not transfer germs to it? My experience with FC was great. Over 4 years, and at 3 locations, they provided affordable and clean access to quality gym equipment, classes, and amenities. This location in particular had a great community, awesome equipment, good RTD selection, and is going to great lengths to reduce member exposure to COVID-19. In 2020 they want you to write a letter, put a stamp on it, and put a letter in the mail. In the meantime they bill you for an additional month. Insane. For example, she always confirms that I am using the correct form and that my breathing habits are benefiting me while I'm lifting weights. She also underlines the importance of stretching after exercise. It has only been about a month of training with Brittany, but this has been the best decision and self-investment I have ever made. I can already notice a difference in my overall strength especially in connection to my injury. I gain more confidence every single day and am motivated to attend my sessions to keep improving. Alright i'm not a big reviewer, but fitness connection is great at taking your money and then telling you to fuck off. I canceled my membership after i lost my job during covid. They tell me you account will be shut down after 30 days. They bill be for that month, and then the annual fee. They took $50 straight out of my account. If you live on a fixed income don't go here, they will take your money and then tel you there's nothing they can do about it. Don't get me wrong it's a nice easy gym. But these guys are just doing whatever it takes to squeeze ever last dime out of you. read more
