just started going to this gym and am very impressed! There are two locations, and this is the bigger one. the equipment is well maintained and work well. there's literally so many machines, i haven't even see half of these before in my life haha. i went at peak gym time (at after work hours for most people), and it was not that busy. there was still plenty, PLENTY of space and machines for everyone. there's a pool, basketball court, kids daycare, a woman's only section (!!! ^__^ ). there are group classes for an extra charge. there's also a military discount available for $5 off per month, taking it from $54 to $49! i'll take what i can get lol. i love it here! check out some of the pictures of the place, i blocked out people who could be identified to respect people's privacy on their gym journey. Older Lady who works in the front at night (week days) has horrible customer service! Noticed a few months ago she started working nights and from that point forward mood and overall ambience has gone down negatively. Poor attitude when greeting and saying goodbye to members. Soon as it turns 10pm all patience goes out the window and she is quick hounding people to get up and leave. She shows no consideration! My experiences with her have been short and I am quick to understand closing time. Today however, her behavior was cruel. Because it was pouring rain outside I was putting all my belongings in my bag so they don't get wet. She hovered over me until she could rush me plus other members who are waiting for rides out into the pouring rain. She stood at the OPEN door staring at me waiting for my ride to pull up to the front of the building. kid you not by the time I got into the car and open this yelp app it was 10:05 pm. I completely understand there is a closing time but this behavior towards members is simply unacceptable and cruel. I hope by writing this it can help the fit nation team provide better customer service to its members :) read more

This gym is clean and well lit. The woman's only section has a lot of great equipment. They also have a sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and pool. The membership is a little pricey but worth it for everything here. read more

Joined in December after comparing all the local gyms. This facility is the most updated and clean gym with the widest variety of spaces and equipment. I wish they opened earlier especially on the weekends. read more

Fitnation hs two locations, one off of Hunt Club road and the other off of Nations Drive. Overall, it's a great for my strength training and cardio and worth the month but your milage may vary depending on your needs! Both locations have a key fob at the front for check ins and both have locker room facilities and water/bottle fountains. The hours of operation are rather limited on the weekend and holidays. Nations Drive: 5 Stars This is a HUGE gym, much bigger than the hunt club location! While some of the machines are older, they're in relatively good condition and functional. The free weights and smith machines are all clean and well maintained. The gym is always clean and the staff are poliet. This location also has several other amentities like a spa, pool, hot tub and classes which I haven't used. Hunt Club: 3.5 Stars This is a smaller gym but it does have a track for walking and running. The free weights are in good conditon but some of the machines, while in good condition, are simply too out dated and there are no dedicated rowing machines or lat machines. read more

I just joined fitnation. I was referred by a friend, who's already a member. I spoke with staff, prior to signing up. In email I was advised that there was a discount for 1st responders. When I arrived to sign up, I was told there was not. It was a little frustrating to have mixed messages. The gym itself seems very well set up. There is an abundance of equipment, plenty of amenities as well. The gym space is large, with plenty of cardio equipment. I do think the price for a membership is a bit high. I'll try the gym out for a month, and see how I like it. I'm also a member at xsport, which is significantly cheaper. Normally I wouldn't pay the extra price for fitnation. However, they are about ten full minutes closer for me than xsport. So far fitnation is a solid 3 stars. Potentially 4. I will update my review after testing the facility for a few weeks. read more

FitNation has many great features for a local gym including pool, hot tubs, sauna and steam room. There is so many weightt machines, tread mills and others that you never have to wait or fight over anything. They even have a womans only area which is 2 private rooms and childcare available for additional fee. The things I wish this gym had was tanning, Massage chairs and a kid friendly pool. Other than that, hair dryers in the bathroom would be amazing since us women know what a hassle it is to have to being your own. Overall, the staff are friendly and the gym is clean. Clean, well maintained and less crowded than Gold's Gym and now with towel service, I'm impressed with the Village of Gurnee takeover. Many of the same employees and awesome instructors have stayed. Most of the same classes as before including yoga, spin, zumba and the entire Les Mills series. Even the hours have been expanded to midnight M-F. The equipment has been overhauled, old equipment removed and some new additions as well. The star of the place will always be the amazing assortment of classes which cater to all levels and ages which are taught by great, certified instructors. However, if you're into weightlifting, they have a huge assortment of machines, free weights, and cable machines. Still here is the large pool, basketball court, children's care area. They're in the process of updating and cleaning the sauna and steam room in the men's locker room. It's a great local resource for fitness and community camaraderie. read more

The benefit is that you get two locations (Fitnation and hunt club) for the same price. There is a salon attached to/inside of the gym. I got free passes while visiting home. I remember this used to be Gold's Gym back in the day and FitNation turned out nicely. I like the separation between the two different weight rooms because it makes the space feel less crowded. Machines on one side and free weights on the other. Both have a good amount of cardio equipment as well. The equipment is not brand new but is in good shape. The music playing is not loud like LA Fitness so you can enjoy your own music from your headphones. I like that they have a KidsNation to leave the kids there while you work out. All the staff working were friendly. Not much else to say but this is probably one of the best gyms in Lake County. read more

Not pleased with pool management. 6 kids in Swim School on Saturday shuts whole pool down. No lap lane. Hydro fit classes have 12-25 people and lap lane remains open. Very limited hours for lap swim on weekends. read more

Pretty sweet since the park district took over, they keep the gym as clean as possible. The only complaint is sometimes they don't upkeep the machines and tvs to actually work when you are on them. I do wish they would add more of the treadmills that incline up to 30. I don't go into sauna or pool but they have them. read more

3 months later members are reminding me that they told me that nothing will change . A couple of regulars had incidents this week but didn't bother telling management . Tension is petty high I won't be surprised if a fight happens soon . Most gyms focus on safety unfortunately fit nation doesn't . Well it certainly is not the nicest gym I've ever been to it is clean and large and not bad by any means. However it is clear the equipment they purchase is close to the lowest quality you can buy and the membership fee isn't as cheap as a comfortable place like Planet Fitness for one of those low cost gyms like that. I received an email to have previous members to rejoin. I quit 4 mos ago do to swim lanes closed for aerobics, and a couple of the aerobics class created problems with lap swimmers. So I go back a week ago spoke to Pat the manager and was told they leave one swim lane open for lap swimming when other activities are going on. Today I go at 10:00 am get showered and swim suit to find out they complete pool is for swim lessons!!! Won't be open till 11:30 am!! By them speaking for myself, no chance coming back do to other commitments. The lap swimmers get it stuck to them again!!! read more

I recently moved into the area and have been going since December. I LOVE this place! It's so much more than just a gym. The staff is awesome, very friendly, in the gym and also, outside of gym. They greet me with smiles even in the grocery store! For me, the best part of my membership is the "Kidnation" child care. Every single staff member there is amazing. Miss Gina and Miss Patricha have really gone out of their way to make my separation anxiety from my toddler easier! I really enjoy all the classes and group fitness they offer. This gym is NOT worth what they charge for a membership. I've been going here a little over 3 years and I must say, as much as I disliked La Fitness, i'd go back to LA Fitness. First off, when you walk in, the old ladies at the front desk are standing there, I walk in, 'Hi!" As i'm handing them my key pass. No hi, hello, smile, nothing, they just take the card, scan it and give it back, or occasionally ask "no class today?" They are rude. They should be the face of the gym since that is the first face you are seeing when walking into that gym. The locker room (ladies) looks like its falling apart. There is a mirror with a shelf thats suppose to be a shelf under the mirror but half knocked off, still 'under construction.' Theres never any soap in the shower dispensers. I've sat on the toilet at least 3 times asking my neighbor for toilet paper or asking whoever was in that bathroom at the time. There are SO MANY people working there, especially teens, walking around, hanging out, when there should AT LEAST be toilet paper in the stalls! There ALWAYS weights on machines, or the floor. They are suppose to help keep that in order. You get a double workout and a waste of time taking 5 45lb plates off a machine each time you want to use it. It's rediculous. They now raised the price since their "latest add ons" which ONLY BENEFITS people that use that crap; added courts, and whatever else they 'made up' that they added. This should be a charge to people whoactually use that, just like the EXTRA $10 charge if you want to do classes. This gym is a joke and only wants to collect as much money as possible. There are often broke machines. Leg press is STILL BROKE. Equipment is the lowest quality. I'm not going into that. Look for yourself, take the tour. They also let people workout in jeans. La Fitness had all of the above, that is why I left. The Waukegan location. BUT another fitnation member reminded me of the Round Lake location, where they will start going now due to all of the above at Fitnation, thats where I will now go as well. For being in Gurnee, and how Gurnee strives so bad to have a good rep, I am NOT impressed, come to this gym for a day and see for yourself. Its a joke. read more

Big for a park district gym but locker rooms are crowded and dirty. Nearly all video/audio equipment on cardio machines are malfunctioning. It would be nice to see the park district pay closer attention to its equipment and raise prices in order to reduce membership to a manageable level. In the absence of that, I recommend paying a bit more to join the Centre Club. Also, the location on Nations Drive is flush with "Jersey Shore" types, so I recommend using the Hunt Club location, unless you're into that kind of crowd. read more

I go to FitNation every time Im in town for business. It is very close to were I stay, so I walk there. Has everything you can ask for at a gym. The sauna's are a good touch also. I will continue to go there when in town. read more

Just moved to the area and wanted to find a nice place to work out. I checked out FitNation, Zip Fitness and LA Fitness. I immediately eliminated Zip fitness as I had just cancelled my Charter Fitness membership and wanted to steer clear of the limited strip mall gyms. I will say I walked out of Zip feeling somewhat depressed...dark and dingy place. Rob at LA Fitness was helpful as he gave me a tour. He gave me a free pass for two days to try the place out. It actually was a pretty decent gym. A bit congested in the free weight area and left there thinking I would join if FitNation was on the same level. I ended up choosing FitNation. Reasons; 1) hand towels and bath towels, 2) locker room is enormous, 3) the number of weight machines is unreal, 4) more than enough cardio machines, 5) an already nice pool that they are upgrading, 6) turf area for crossfit workouts, 7) TRX area and 8) a daycare that looks legit. The only downside is that they acquired second hand free weights, assume to keep cost down, but I believe they'll upgrade those in future as membership grows. Also, on my third trip, a Saturday, nobody showed up to open the place until 30 minutes past the open time. It happens (I've witnessed this numerous times at Charter) and hope they'll take corrective action. Would I have signed with LA Fitness? Absolutely. However I thought the extra $15 per month was worth it. read more

Some classes and instructors are good but since it has changed from Golds Gym to Gurnee Park District its all about money. They are greedy and the price is way to high for this gym classes are not included its an extra price. Should be more considerate on the price and letting people join. read more

I absolutely love it here. Always so clean, the staff is SO friendly and helpful, and the yoga classes are awesome! I love that they have sleds and a lot of medicine balls, and lots of space to do whatever workout you enjoy. They have seriously everything you could possibly imagine wanting for any workout you choose to do. The other awesome part is that it's a classier gym, so you don't ever get the rude guys trying to cat call at you while you're working out. I'm super grateful for that. Everyone is just there to get their workout in. Lastly, their locker rooms/bathroom area is impeccable. Again, always VERY clean. Constantly seeing the employees walking through cleaning the bathrooms. They have tons of showers, and it's very private. I honestly don't think I could have asked for a better gym! Oh yea! If you've got kids, the daycare area is huge, and the kids always look like they're having fun and are well taken care of. I always see the girls in there actually engaged with the children and ensuring they're enjoying themselves too. Happy workout! :) read more

I have been a member since FitNation moved to this location previously run by Gold's gym. Clean, well-equipped gym which has mix of weight training options, cardio machines, and many specialized classes. Also has a pool and basketball court. Staff are amiable and knowledgeable. I appreciate a monthly discount for senior membership. Kid friendly, including childcare, martial arts and exercise machines that children can use. read more

I love this gym! It is nice and clean with some awesome classes and equipment! The only thing I dislike-is that I rarely see people wipe their mats or equipment. It drives me crazy, especially during flu season! The gym stocks plenty of wipes so it's not their fault. I just make sure to wipe stuff down before and after. read more

For a park district gym it's got machines and equipment that I don't see in any of the commercial style gyms. Very clean, very friendly, a generous hours of operation throughout the week, any machine you can think of....and they have a lot of classes and I love the option of daycare! I have twin boys and LOVE the freedom of going whenever I want with up to 2 hours of daycare. I would never have been able to exercise very often without that sort of option. I only hope that after the renovations, there will still be a "woman's" area. I really enjoyed the privacy of a just-woman area for dumbbells and stretching.
