Don't let the location or temptation of food fool ya, tucked behind a major chain restaurant (and…read moretheir infamous bread rolls) lies a studio that features not only great spaces to workout in but it's clear they have a core community who make it feel welcoming for newcomers and die-hards alike. The Studio celebrated their one year anniversary and I had the chance to check it out with my sister who goes quite frequently. She has been trying to get me to the studio for some time so it was nice to finally check it out in an open house setting. They have a dedicated pilates studio and a core strength room to enjoy their class schedule from 6am to evenings. I even saw a private training room which was pretty cool. The pilates room had about 10-12 beds and they have a rotating list of trainers which was cool to learn. It was a great opportunity to see what all The Studio has and now it's a matter of coming for my first class.

Where do i begin…read more... I began my journey at PUSH a little over 3 years ago. I think for anyone who has been out of the fitness game for a while, coming back in can definitely be intimidating, scary, and sometimes discouraging. Im so happy THIS is where i began... it was nothing like i'd feared. The trainers are all so Knowledgeable, motivating, and welcoming! You really begin to feel like you are a part of something bigger, a fitness family that is constantly PUSHing eachother to do better, work harder, and grind a little more every day. I do personal training with Mike Contreras, who is amazing at what he does with every client, just like all the Push trainers are! Not only do they offer personal training, but athletic, crossfit, and physical therapy. To top it off and one stop shop that offers a shake/meal prep bar and chiropractor. 3 years later, -80lbs (still a bit to go), I've seen my body, STRENGTH, and own self confidence grow. Im not so hell bent on numbers on a scale, but what my body is capable of; endurance, strength. It wouldn't have been possible without the daily inspiration i get from my PUSH family. Thank you guys for all your patience and motivation!

No distractions, no televisions, no wait time cuz someone is on their phone. They assist and guide my daughter with strengthening her muscle groups to improve her volleyball game. I go into the gym apparently on the wrong side and the rude coach immediately points at me and yells go to the front like Im suppose to know where that is? Second, i have attempted to sign up three times with three different members telling me three different stories. The third time is with that rude coach and he says i can't participate in class unless I handle it (like hello?! I keep on getting tossed around trying to figure it out!). He had the audacity to tell me "we just can't have you taking free classes". That's so embarrassing for him to imply that I'm freeloading off of this gym. I even told him can I just pay for today's class? And he still denied me. Will definitely not invest in my health and money into this unprofessional gym.

Get Lifted seems like a really awesome CrossFit gym. Everyone I met was helpful and friendly. I…read morewas really overwhelmed when I first showed up, like nearly to tears b/c I was afraid to be there. I felt like I didn't belong in such a place. By the end of my assessment I was happy, felt great about my accomplishments, and was ready to sign up. Unfortunately, my workout hit me about 5 minutes after I was done talking with my assessment trainer and I totally lost it standing in the hallway. I couldn't tell if I needed to puke or pass out, neither of which happened, but I knew standing in that hall would be the end of me. So I abruptly ran off with my contract to sign up back to my car and sat there with my head on the steering wheel for about 5-8 minutes until I came back to life. If you want a hard core workout in a short amount of time, this is your place. If you want to be challenged at a pace you can actually do, this is your place. If you want to be surrounded by motivating happy people, this is STILL your place. You work your entire body with the system they have set up, and you don't have to worry about using any fancy machinery. It's all you, it's all your body. And there were people of varying fitness levels at this gym, though I do feel like it's a place you go after you know you can handle a workout. I may actually sign up here after I feel a little more bad ass, but I know I could handle it now if I just tried. I just don't want to try right now, I'm happy with my little runs. Thursday is open gym. Show up 10 minutes before the hour to sign in and get paired up with a trainer and see if CrossFit is for you!

I've been going to Pure Barre ‍ for about 4 months, but to be honest, I've been going a lot less…read morebecause I've been so busy. What I like about them is that they let you take a FREE demo class, which is a really good mix of all the different classes they have. I then took a stretching class called "Align" that I actually fell in love with. It's the perfect mixture of yoga and resistance training, and it helps you with your posture and alignment, while still getting your heart rate up. The facilities are clean and modern, and the instructor, Erica, is high-energy and super kind. They also provide you the equipment like bands, mats, and weights, just need to clean it afterwards. They only offer classes on certain days, and the schedule is uncertain because they're in a transition period. The owner of the franchise sold it to two different owners, so now you have to get a membership at each studio, instead of being able to go to the Pure Barre here off Redd or Kern, when it was under the same owner. Other than that, the classes are high-quality, and I enjoy them. I just wish they offered more, but I understand they're a small, growing studio, and it's really close to my house, so I can't complain. I also like that there's no judgment, and you can go at your own pace. I usually modify the exercises so I don't hurt myself, because I'm so out of shape. A lot of the people who take the classes come from Pilates, which I also wanted to try, but apparently the reformer machines are kind of unforgiving, and they suffer a lot of injuries. Pure Barre is a more natural and more forgiving way to lengthen and tone your body without hurting yourself, so I'm glad I took this instead. If you're interested in trying them out, they have demos you can try. And now that the kids are going to school, I'll be going to take more classes, because it makes me feel so much better and really helps me with posture and hip and back problems that you get as you age. The classes are also pretty affordable if you buy a package, and they always run specials. -TODOELPASO

Pure Barre kicked my butt. I signed my boyfriend and I up for the Love Your Body class on…read moreValentine's Day and I still feel the burn in my abs today. PB gave us a great workout in a fun environment. I'm usually more of a studio jumper (I like going to different types of studios like yoga and pilates and kickboxing and... well, you get it). Signing up for a single class is only $20 right now. I was lucky enough to have a discount code for a free class, but I would've taken the class regardless. You can purchase single classes or memberships online, but I'd check at PB first because they might have some kind of discount going on. Our teacher was Courtney. She was awesome! She started the class by making sure we understood the lingo ("tuck" was the big one that day) and as the class went on she made sure we had the right posture and we weren't taking the easy way out any chance we got. "Find your shake" was said a lot and I did find my shake. A couple of our friends came too so I think that helped to keep us on our toes... literally. PB classes are a mix of yoga, pilates, and ballet. The ballet portion of it is more isolated standing and sitting stretches... so no, you won't be doing any pirouettes during PB. The workout wasn't so strenuous that I was near death, but between pumping weights and holding a small PB ball between my legs, every muscle in my body felt like it was working. The whole studio is in tip-top shape. In the very back there is a small locker room where you can leave your stuff and pick up weights, a band, and a ball for the class. Before the class we also picked up some "sticky socks" in the front shop area. They actually have a lot of women's apparel available like shirts, capris, and leggings. Great class, awesome instructor, and wonderful studio! I'll be signing up for more classes very soon! Oh and they sometimes have different types of events so check into those.
