Can't believe I spent so much time visiting Club Pilates in the hopes of being in a class anywhere close to the private training I'm used to. The version of me that lives in this strong, mobile, joyful body didn't exist a year ago. Last week, friends invited me to hike the entire Camino de Santiago. After taking a deep breath with the realization that I now could walk over 100 miles with friends, the first thing I asked was, "Well, how much Pilates would I have to miss?" Because I'm not sure I can go more than two weeks without my teacher Sean Bergara at Ecore. Sean is one of the best teachers I've ever experienced -- of anything -- and as a casting director and coach, I'm not easy to impress. His passion is palpable. He's written multiple books. He's dealt with his own injuries, so he brings empathy as well as expertise. And every class is different, which means your brain stays just as active as your body. You're never on autopilot. Sean's a master at cues. He'll tell you exactly where you should be feeling the work, so you can learn how to move more effectively and functionally throughout the world, not just sweat through a workout. He offers precise modifications (and I take full advantage -- I still need them all the time!). And because the classes are small -- just 9 reformers -- it feels personal, focused, and safe. My strength, mobility, balance, and confidence have grown exponentially since starting at Ecore in late August of 2024. This isn't just a workout. It's a return to my body -- and to myself. I am grateful for Sean, and would give Ecore ten stars if I could.

I met her at EOS gym in Palm Springs several years ago. Before she began work in Palm Desert and La Quinta. She was my personal fitness trainer. I went through a health crisis (unexpected heart surgery!) during my time training with Melissa. When I finished recovering at home and returned to the gym, she went above and beyond what would have been expected of a personal trainer. Taking things slow, adapting to what I needed and making it all work. For real. No Joke. I will be forever grateful to her for being there like that. It was difficult yet she remained brave and confident. Making her new healthy exercise program for me happen. Now I am 100% back to normal and I couldn't have done it without her thoughtfulness and foresight. I found Melissa to be very competent and effective as a personal trainer. Which is why I am pleased to recommend her. She is excellent. I am extremely happy and easily rate her five out of five stars. Give her a try. You will not be disappointed.

I found this place and walked in to inquire about the Yelp promo I had seen offering 1 free session. As soon as I walked in, I could sense attitude coming from the owner Johnny, especially after asking about the Yelp promo WHICH IS LISTED HERE ON HIS YELP PAGE. He told me to come back for one of the afternoon classes, then immediately took it back and told me that the class was cancelled and to come for a different class that would start in 15 minutes. I already felt the negativity in his voice and was hesitant but decided to let it go and give it a try. The pilates class itself was not bad and that is the only reason I am even giving it a star at all. But still, Johnny was being very cold toward me and was only acting that way toward me, and not to the other attendees. There was even another person in the class who was there for the first time, yet Johnny was nice and helpful to him but not treating me with that same kindness. Immediately after the class, Johnny loudly says to me in front of the everyone, "How are you going to pay me?". I reminded him of the Yelp promo we had discussed earlier and he snarkily said "OK so do that then." Then while collecting payment from the other first timer, he sarcastically said "I love you. This is so nice" to the man, while holding up his credit card. I knew that was directed toward me because he was upset that I wanted to use the free session coupon. I felt so disrespected that I just ended up walking away after that. I have NEVER experienced such disrespect at any Pilates studio I had been to before, and I've gone to many. I was being very respectful and nice, even though I was being treated the exact opposite. He shouldn't be including a free session promo on his Yelp page if he doesn't want people to ask about it. I would think twice before coming here, especially if you are just visiting. Places like this will never earn my business again and I will make sure to warn all of my friends and family visiting Palm Springs. I also noticed later that all of his Yelp reviews are from years ago and that should have already been a red flag to me.

I then spoke with a member who agreed to bring me in and returned to complete check-in. At that point, I was told I could not enter due to the nature of my relationship with the member, which directly contradicted the earlier instruction I was given at the front desk. When I asked for clarification on the correct guest access policy, the interaction escalated. The staff member (Anton) raised his voice in front of other members, refused to allow me to speak with anyone else, stated I could not enter, and said that police would be called. Police were called and arrived on site. During the interaction, the staff member continually made unprofessional comments such as "go do pushups in the parking lot," which was unnecessary given the situation. Overall, the experience involved inconsistent instructions, unclear enforcement of guest policy, and an unnecessary escalation of what should have been a straightforward guest check-in. I felt personally discriminated against and would not recommend this gym to anyone.

Having done CrossFit for seven years, I wanted a place that offered strength training, HIIT, and personal coaching, but also felt welcoming and motivating. Fit in 42 delivers on all of that. The community is strong and supportive, and the coaches give each person real attention. I mostly do the semi-private training sessions, max six people per class, and it feels like having a personal trainer who also keeps you connected to a team. I also love dropping into the 42 Strong HIIT classes for an extra push. The coaches here are excellent!! Every one of them sets the bar high for both expertise and encouragement. The workouts are challenging, well-structured, and varied, and the coaches know how to tailor them to individual goals. What stands out most is that this gym is more than just a place to work out. It is a place where you feel part of something, and where results and connection go hand in hand. Not only have I been meeting my fitness goals, but I've also made lifelong friends here. Joining Fit in 42 has been one of the best decisions I've made since moving to Palm Springs. Show up once and you'll see why.

I am a former spa owner who has worked in the Wellness Industry for over 20 years and can say that…read moremy experience here, specifically with the "teacher" Leasanne, was not only astoundingly unprofessional, but downright traumatic. I was new to Hot Yoga and the Palm Springs area, so I purchased a 30 day pass with the intention of trying all the classes and finding community. The first two classes I took were amazing and did wonders for my body, which was totally locked up from a lifetime of trauma and autoimmune issues stemming from Autism and ADHD. While my disabilities are "invisible" I am used to people picking up on them and treating me differently as a result, but I never anticipated being bullied and harassed by a yoga instructor and classmates in what is supposed to be a healing and supportive environment. When I was unable to keep up with the pace of the class, which is described as "all levels welcome" Leasanne became very aggressive in singling me out with impatient corrections. Half way through the class, she came stomping over to me while I was on my back, put her beet-red sweaty face within inches of mine, sweat dripping down on me, and yelled at me for "defying" her. When I informed her that I was listening to my body and that I would continue to move at the pace my body allowed, she became even more angry and said it wasn't a Yin Yoga class and I needed to respect her authority. Last I checked, I am the authority over my own body, but either way, I've never been in a yoga class where the instructor took issue with someone doing child's pose or something similar if they needed a break, especially in a 110 degree room where over-exertion could lead to serious medical emergencies. Leasanne spent the entire 90 minute class chastising and attempting to humiliate me for my disabilities: 1. ADHD - Auditory processing and motor skill delays compromise my ability to follow verbal instruction means I need to rely on mirroring others. Isn't that why the room is full of mirrors? 2. Autism - Pathological Demand Aboidance and a connective tissue disorder called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, makes it difficult for me to transition quickly, especially when someone is micro-managing me. After the class, several other out-of-towners comforted me in the locker room. They were also appalled by Leasanne's behavior and commented that they had never witnessed anything like it and would never be coming back. When I went to leave, Leasanne and about 6 regular class members were waiting for me in the lobby. Leasanne said, "I hear you struggle with Autism" to which I replied "I'm not struggling with my Autism, but you clearly are". When I refused to shake her hand or give her a hug after she just spent 90 minutes traumatizing and harassing me in front of 30 strangers, that's when the regular class attendees surrounded me and one got up in my face to tell me that I was the problem because she has Bipolar Disorder and it didn't affect her ability to be in the class or get along with people. What!?! BPD is not AuDHD and if you're doing so great with it, why are you literally attacking me for not being able to keep up with the pace of a yoga class? That's insane. Needless to say, the whole ordeal put me into an Autistic collapse, so I didn't ever go back to be in "community" with a bunch of psychopaths. The money I spent on the 30 day pass was a loss, since I didn't have the energy or emotional regulation to advocate for myself, at that time. The experience was so traumatic I haven't been able to go to ANY group yoga classes since, and it is only now, 20 months later, that I'm even able to talk about it. I'm pretty sure I should be talking to a lawyer, but you gotta start somewhere.
