I have…read moretried several gyms and 'boot camps' in town and hadn't found anything that kept me motivated for more than a few months. Then a friend brought me in for a free trial workout and though I left feeling exhausted, and really sweaty, I was hooked. Each and every time you walk through the door you know you will be completing a different, yet challenging, workout. The coaches are there to encourage and push you, but they can also help modify the workouts to accommodate people of all fitness levels. That is one of my favorite things about OTF-there are people there of all shapes, sizes, ages and fitness levels, it is really a friendly, non-intimidating way of staying healthy and having fun! I always leave with a sweaty smile on my face, happy that I chose to make this change towards a healthier lifestyle.

The 1st Choice Savings Centre for Sport & Wellness at the University of Lethbridge is a…read morecomprehensive sport and recreation centre that features a fitness centre, climbing centre, aquatic centre, recreation facility, sports stadium, a triple gymnasium, multipurpose studios and an indoor running track I haven't used all their facilities but I have used the fitness centre, the aquatic centre, gymnasium and indoor track multiple times. The "Vita Sana" Fitness Centre is definitely my all-time favorite gym, it has a comprehensive assortment of equipment, is well organized and maintained, and the staff are well trained and qualified. Some gyms are bigger, have way more equipment that is more modern as well (like the gym I go to in Calgary), but bigger isn't always better. At my usual gym things are always a mess; equipment is everywhere, people rarely wipe down machines after use and the staff rarely clean/maintain the gym. People at the Vita Sana Fitness Centre actually respect the gym and equipment, and they clean up after themselves. Plus the staff rarely clean/maintain the gym. People at the Vita Sana Fitness Centre actually respect the gym and equipment and clean up after themselves, AND the staff actually clean and maintain the gym as well! Not only that, but their desk is right on the floor and they're always willing to help or give advice, and they're qualified to it! Although they don't have the best and brightest equipment their balance with the facility itself and the staff make them the best gym I've been to. There are term locker rentals as well, which eliminates the need to lug around your gear all the time. There are towel rentals and guest lockers as well. Prices are affordable with discount for students, alumni, family, other post-secondary, youth and senior. You have to pay for parking but evenings and weekends are free, and a parking pass is included with full-time membership. It can definitely get busy at times, but there are also a lot of downtimes. One thing I really enjoy is how seamless it is to expand your workout to other areas of the Centre. The indoor track is right above the gym and includes its own cardio equipment. The gymnasium is immediately next to it as is one of the multi-purpose studios and the climbing wall. You can also rent equipment like balls or rackets from the front desk. The aquatic facility is linked to the same locker room as the gym as well, so going from one to the other is effortless! There is also a sauna to relax in. They University of Lethbridge's Sport & Wellness centre is your one-stop shop for recreation! It's a great place to get in a workout, play some sports or team games and unwind. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone :), cheers!

I was so Blessed when Andrea offered a beginners class online during this isolation time. I have…read morewanted to join in her classes but I live in the US. I have been dealing with nerve damage due to a accident 8 years ago and many surgeries. After just one class with her she noticed what my body was having trouble doing and made adjustments so by the time if the end of the class my body truly relaxed and the spasms were not happening. I also for the first time in eight years was able to get up off the floor, by myself. The pain of kneeling, caused by my two knee replacements surgeries, following the accident, hasn't allowed me to do that without help from my husband. That was huge to me. I am so excited to start my continued online classes with her on next Monday. Thank you Andrea for helping me so much, nothing else I have tried has help me overcome the spasms I have had to deal with for the past eight years. Fran Hurley

The class was popular and the 2 classes I took were packed houses. The instructor was the se both days and he was energetic and knowledgeable in a good flow. He wasn't the most informative at telling me where everything was at even after mentioning that I had never been to the studio before. Nothing rude but just thought he could have been a little more friendlier. He put on one hell of a class though. Enough for me to want to come back to his class the next day. Overall the studio was spacious, it was HOT (bc duh hot yoga), the music was fire (& loud) and the workout was amazing.

On some level, I love this place because it's like a Lethbridge version of New York's central park…read more And I feel its awesomeness is completely to scale with central park in New York. What I like: It's a square park with a circular bike loop that you can just rip around full speed on your bike. What I don't like: There's a pretty good chance you're going to have to dodge a significant number of Lethbridge's homeless population when you do this. This is a great space and I'm glad that it exists in the city. From outdoor events of all shapes and sizes to aid in bringing people into the city's centre it's wonderful. It's just a shame that it mostly serves as a secondary homeless shelter instead of a community space...

My husband and I stopped at Nicholas Sheran Park to play a round of disc golf on a recent stopover…read morein Lethbridge. This park is beautiful, with extensive trails, a large water feature in the middle, and clean modern public washrooms. There are also multiple playground areas that looked fairly new, and had many kids enjoying playing on them. The park is located in the west end of the city and was very easy to find with Google directions. The reviews of the disc golf course here were really good online, but we were pretty disappointed with the set up. The city provides maps online (which is better than most other cities), but once we were on the ground, we found the maps weren't to scale. The signs for the start of the hole were very far from the tees, up to 30-40 feet in some cases. Each hole has three start tees, marked with colored plastic discs in the grass. Some of these discs were missing and were so far from the hole markers that we spent forever wandering around trying to find them. Without cement pads we were really just guessing. The holes are very long, which is great if you're working on your throwing game, but because we could never find the tee, we often had to find the basket and work backwards. Also, and this is a small quibble, the baskets were painted green, which made spotting them in the grass and trees more difficult (perhaps this was intentional to minimize visual disruptions from other places in the park). The first 10 holes are lined up pretty good, but then for some reason it's a 10 minute hike to hole 11, across the park, and at this point we gave up and stopped playing. It would have been nicer if the tees were planned closer to the ends of the previous holes. Overall if I lived in Lethbridge I would 100% use this park for other recreation, but without a local to help us walk through the tee locations, it was frustrating and tiring to try and play through.
