For those of you not familiar with dinosaurs or hands it basically means that my hands are feeling very floppy. Holding a pint of Guinness last night took considerable effort and grip revision. To the uneducated eye some may think that I am overtly expressive in a camp theatrical way with my flailing hands. But enough about my hands, what about the wall? €8 to go each time. €5 one time only membership. Plenty of walls of all different intensity levels for you to practise on (bouldering not rock climbing). They have a free drop in class every Monday for beginners. It's not in the sexiest of locations but the inside is very well done, you can get coffee and parents etc can chill out in the seating area and look on. If you are OK with heights and falling from heights give it a go. If you're not you are more than welcome to watch my hands go dinosaur like as I fall from a height. I think that would be very rewarding for those of you that don't like me.

Zumba is great, Pilates, Yoga! Weights on the ground floor - packed on Monday to Wednesday evenings (6-8 pm) Thursday Friday better - weekends it depends. All good- most of the equipment is working. You can ask staff to show you how to use it. There is basketball-football court upstairs on the 2d floor - you can reserve it for the kid's party or football fun game - ask reception for the info! You can get your chart ( info.desk on the ground floor)- measure yourself (weight, height, etc.) And you can set your goal and go ahead- with the trainer or by yourself! BAM! 5 STARS!! I've…read morebeen a swimmer on and off since I was about 5 years old (ON for most of my teenage years, OFF when I discovered beer and women, ON again when I took up triathlon to set myself a new challenge), so I have a good idea what makes a good swimming pool, and a fair idea what makes a good gym. Let's start at the start - this is a private members gym; you can't walk in off the street unless you're signed in by a member. You can sign up for some classes by themselves (spin, pilates, etc) as a non-member, but most of the people here are fully paying members. That being said, the membership packages are very flexible - it's basically €230 for an individual for a year of a basic membership, plus either pay-as-you-go, or whatever package you want to put on top for gym/swim/etc. I've been a member since February and I could not be more impressed to be honest. The place is always spotless, the staff are always friendly, the other patrons are always grand (no steroid junkies here!), and the classes are very good; particularly the spin classes which come as part of your full membership. Every facility you could want is here as well: gym, pool, football pitches, tennis and badminton courts, sauna, leisure suite... you name it, it's there! Now onto the pool itself. It's a standard 25 meter pool with a small viewing gallery. The 'adult swim' sessions are the best to go to if you want to go for a proper swim - three lanes will be marked out and most people stick to the slow, medium & fast lanes (it's a pet peeve of mine when they don't!). All in all, a great job in a handy location, and you can customise your own package or pay-as-you-go after the initial membership fee. Only negative is that you have to pay up-front rather than by Direct Debit, but it's not enough of a grievance to deter me from awarding the big 5!

For us two 60 yr olds, who were a bit hesitant, Coach T was patient and funny. Turns out we weren't so bad, and had a great time. Com's enthusiasm for Gaelic games and his history lesson were wonderful! Took about three hours, and was well worth the time. Plus it was something a bit different.

Aqua aerobics classes are 6 euro and the general swimming times are 5 euro, with various offers for other classes. There is the option to either sign up for the entire course or drop in on a casual basis. The meditation sessions are comprised of two parts - the first involves silent meditation and the second is a journey of relaxation and visualisation. I found the class quite interesting and rather beneficial. The room the classes are held in is inviting and comfortable, and Tim has a very calm, unobtrusive manner. I've been to other meditation classes in the past, and this was one of the simpler classes I've attended. Personally I'd prefer something a little more advanced, but then again, this was the first class of a five week course, so perhaps by the end of the course it will build to something incredible? Classes are held on Wednesday nights, 5.45pm for meditation and 7pm for yoga, and are a tenner for a class (not bad!)
