I am a larger busted lady and normally have to shop at Bravissimo, but have recently been getting frustrated that the bras don't last very well and keep being destroyed by underwires poking out. So I thought I'd go a bit upmarket and give Fit to Bust a try, as I have heard good things. I was initially impressed with some things, nice little shop, friendly, if slightly overbearing staff, and the fact that they would alter a bra with a larger back size to fit me, using a professional dressmaker. Things I was not impressed with were when the fitter suggested that if you have larger breasts "something's got to give" - i.e. the fit will never be perfect, which is not something I have ever had said to me in years of going to Bravissimo.
Ultimately, I wasn't impressed by the fact that when I got the "altered" bras home they didn't fit me properly. One just basically was slightly too small in the cup, and my sister could tell through my clothes that it didn't properly fit. The other dug in under the cup and became extremely painful in the evening. When I took them back they looked at them and said that the underwires were bent, which meant the bras had been "abused" in some way, and claimed this was the reason that they didn't fit. We came to the conclusion that they may have got bent in the bag when travelling home for Christmas in a packed car, and they refused to take them back, offering me a £20 gift voucher instead. (Bearing in mind I had spent £80 altogether). I am fairly convinced though, that the underwire had just bent as I wore them (for a few hours only), moulding around my shape, as I do have very narrow ribs - all my existing bras have a bend in the underwire. They denied, however, that this could possibly happen from wearing and that some serious damage must have been done. So now I am £60 out, with still no wearable, comfortable bras, and planning to go back to Bravissimo! read more
