Just took an intro class... absolutely love. To be honest I was worried about it being pack but the instructor which was Gina (owner) guided all of the beautiful ladies great!!! Definitely had fun practicing and tapping into the inner goddess we all have! Good vibes + encouragement + all worries left out of the door, you will have a blast. Ok this place is a little hard to find, but so worth it. For a dark room with some poles, Fit for a Goddess packs a huge empowerment punch. I walked in to an intro class as an event, knowing no one but thinking, "hey I love fitness and feeling sexy, so let's do this!" For a group of shy girls, everyone jumped right in. We started on yoga mats on the floor for a warm up with some sass. Push-ups were seductive, crunches were flirty. Ok, this is fun. Next we learned some basic moves and a short routine on the poles. It was super fun! All of the ladies were encouraging and cheering each other on. As the great Shania Twain sang, "Man, I feel like a woman!" Highly recommend this studio for bachelorettes , girls night out, fitness, or just finding your next sexy playlist, because damn, Gina! I wish I'd taken notes on the music. I heard about Fit For a Goddess through a friend and she invited me to an intro class. I'm so glad I went! I've been looking for an upper body strengthening course that wouldn't make me feel self-conscious and help me with my self-image and confidence issues. OMG! This is the place to be!! FFG is provides supportive instructors and I liked how the upper level students attend the lower levels classes. They are very helpful. FFG provides other workshops aside from pole fitness such as belly dancing, core workouts, and stretching classes. FFG is located on Ward Avenue - in the same building as Painting with a Twist and Laka Spa on the second floor. Yoga mats and water is available for $1. Parking is limited, but I believe you can park across the street by Starbucks. Everyone should try pole exercise at least once in your life. It definitely changed mine!! Since my last review, this place has gotten an upgrade. There are now 7 45 mm spin xpoles. **Ladies, if you are still unsure whether or not to try out this place, let me help** Things I love about FFG: ~friendly atmosphere. Everyone I've talked to in intro classes always say the same thing, that they're afraid they're not strong enough, not flexible enough, not sexy enough, etc. etc. That is all I hear. Well guess what ladies, it doesn't matter. The intro is supposed to be like dipping your big toe into the ocean to test out how cold it is. If it's too cold, you decide not to go. Simple. The intro class is really to test where you're at physically and mentally. You will learn a lot about yourself in those 1 hr and 30 minutes, I promise you. You will learn that you are not as shy as you thought you were, that you're probably stronger than you make yourself out to be. And if it's the complete opposite? That's okay too, because everyone in that room is super friendly. ~JUDGE-FREE: seriously cannot emphasize this enough. New incomers always feel like they don't want to try it because they're afraid the other girls will judge them for not being able to execute "easy" moves. Everyone is different. One move may be easier for one girl, and completely impossible for the other. If you try out a class, you'll see that instead of judgement, everyone is encouraging each other and making each other feel good about themselves. ~Amazing upper body workout: Like any other sport, to see results, you need to put in the time and dedication to practice. You can't just go to one intro class and expect to be strong right away. You also can't judge the sport with just one intro class. Try out different instructors per intro, they each have their own style of teaching. With that said, the higher the level, the harder the moves get. So if you really want to start seeing your upper body strength improving, stick to it until you're in level 8/Superstars. The first 2 levels are mostly dancing to get you ladies more comfortable with your body and the pole. But in level 3, you start going upside down. Honestly the best part about this business is the owner, Gina- she genuinely cares about her clients and teaching you safety, confidence and Pole skills your partner will die for. Her instruction is amazing. If you see her name pop up, take her class! Tip: great place to take your bridesmaids for a bachelorette party!! There are two studios so sometimes classes overlap. The studio is VERY clean, so bonus! Also, they have mats and pads you can borrow if you forget to bring your own. Classes are held 7 days a week for various levels. Class times vary from 60-90minutes. You can be a beginner with no experience or an expert that has been doing it for 10 years! There are TONS of classes for all types- * Pole work * stretching * choreography work * Floor work * foam rolling / recovery * invert conditioning * booty, ab work Etc etc,. I always wanted to try pole fitness & finally had the chance when I attended a Yelp Fitness event a few months ago. I had so much fun at the Yelp Fitness event that I enrolled into the 5 week level one series of classes. I just graduated level 2 yesterday & am starting level 3 in a few weeks. The classes start with a warm up of stretches then move into the pole routine. The work out is challenging & you will be sore (like after any workout) but you'll develop nice muscles. Ladies, listen up. I totally dismissed this class as one of those zumba-esque type of classes: fun fitness and being able to carry on with your day without skipping a beat. *buzzer* Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Humbled is what I am, after taking my first class at Fit For A Goddess dance studios. (Note: I work out at the gym and yet, there are parts of my body that are slowly aching as I compose this, ha ha! I seriously feel the evidence of a full body workout!) First of all, I am truly grateful for my girlfriend, Jen, who had the courage to move on her curiousity when a 2for1 Groupon presented itself. More grateful that she thought of me, although I secretly was hoping she'd pick someone else, out of fear that I wasn't as athletic or "sexy" enough for this class. Post class: I am elated that it was ME who had this eye-opening experience. However, being the responsible friend that she is, she made the reservation, we created our profiles and we were off to the races, er, poles--to be exact. Parking was free (Sunday) and although it was a bit tricky to find the actual location (we followed other women who had mats and towels), upon arrival, it was a very small, yet, welcoming space. Two instructors greeted us in a one-sided mirrored room with 7 silver floor-to-ceiling poles. This was when I felt intimidated. Upon saying the cordial "hello's", figuring out where to place my mat and getting my bearings, the class opened with the instructor creating a safe space: we all got the opportunity to introduce ourselves. That helped, as I was nervous about this unknown territory. In the end, the lead instructor, Jamie, was AWESOME: easy to follow, clear directions, and a great role-model. Although I was excited I didn't know what to expect. Gina, the owner who was also our Goddess guide for the evening, made me feel at ease. We had a blast learning a sexy pole, wall, floor, AND chair routine... SO MUCH FUN!! I walked in feeling sheepish and curious but walked out feeling empowered and SEXY AS HECK!! *sassy hair flip* They offer a variety of classes at various times of the day which is a plus with my schedule. I don't think I've ever felt more confident in myself than after walking out of this class! It's a very fun and unique way to get your dose of exercise. Very fun if you go with friends. Channel your inner Goddess together ;) Great for a girls night out! I went to an introductory class with my friend with a Groupon that she got online. It is nice that they have this intro class because it gets all your nervousness out and everyone there is basically in the same position that you're in...worried about how stupid you may look. But don't fear friends, this is a NO JUDGMENT ZONE. Everyone is really positive and encourages each other. In the intro class, we started with introductions so that we got to know each other a little better. We learned the beginning of a pole routine which included how to strut, use your hands to make engagement, some pole work, and a fun spin. We also learned simple moves to make little actions a little sexier in everyday life. They offer class bundles and I believe there are 8 different levels of the class. I definitely will be back and gonna bring my friends. They would all love this. Make sure you bring your yoga matt and water. If you forget them, it's a dollar (each). You need the matt for the warmup portion of the class. It was such a great experience, to be completely honest, when I first walked into the class, I felt so uncomfortable and shy, but at the end of the class, I felt liberated from all of that. My coworkers and I tried the intro to pole exercise using a groupon. It was a very informative first class. You are taught some core training, pole dance and spin along with a wall dance. It was just enough to introduce what is offered at this studio. The instructions were polite and patient in teaching the class. They were encouraging and the atmosphere was inviting. They allowed the class to take pictures and offered a exercise promo packet for more sessions. There pricing was reasonable and they explained the different levels. My coworkers and I enjoyed this challenging but entertaining pole exercise class. If you are looking for something different than going to the gym, look at trying this! We aren't about shaking our booty all up in your grill (but if that's what you're into, FFG offers a twerk class too) but we're about sensuality and empowerment through sensual self-confidence. Sounds weird? It isn't. Trust me, no one's going to judge you (unless you're an a$$h0le personality but I can't help you there). Everyone, especially at the lower levels, will be too busy figuring out how to do the moves to be judging you. They will be trying to remember the choreography and possibly busy judging themselves to be making opinions about you. Your biggest enemy is probably your own self-confidence. We have students and instructors of all shapes and sizes and they all are rockin' fabulous. Every instructor has their own teaching style and if you're lucky enough to randomly pick one who fits your learning style (AND your body type), score!!! If not, you will still have fun and you can always switch to another day/time with someone else who might fit you better. My level instructors (because there are other non-level classes as well) are Ashley R. and Lisa. Both are big on teaching technique and being detailed on HOW you go about achieving a move. I love it because my [small-kine] background in Brazilian jiujitsu is also heavy on details and breaking things down to basics. It works for my learning style. They are also super supportive and helpful and willing to answer any question I have. However, many other instructors I have encountered (either because they dropped in to be assistants or because I was in some class of theirs) are also super helpful in answering questions as well. It's nice to see what each person specializes in. In level 1 and 2, it's very dancing-heavy. You learn a ton of stuff on the pole and on the floor but it has way more dancing than all the other levels following it. Level 3 is where the challenge starts to really come in. Once you get past levels 3 and 4, the rest is VERY doable. I myself am still trying to work on a handstand (basic)...I've been working it for about 3 levels now....and still haven't gotten it. It's more fear-based than anything else stopping me, but hey, each student has her own strengths and weaknesses - so play yours up! I currently just finished level 7 so we will be headed to level 8 soon! I'm super excited!!! Through FFG, I met many wonderful polerina ladies, many hilarious ladies (because when many of you are baring tons of skin and in sexy cothing...humor can really help), and discovered that I can build up to become stronger than I thought I could be. I came with a large group of friends, and sprinkled in the class were a couple other women of mixed ages. The instructor started with an ice breaker to get everyone to know each other, then went into yoga-like stretching before learning a routine involving how to walk, wall work and pole work. As a beginner class, it definitely was not hard exercise - I think anyone could do it regardless of fitness level. Feels like a totally open and judgement-free space. I have been wanting and wishing to get into a work out regimen for a looooong time, but motivation is my biggest issue :( I don't like to feel like I'm working out, but I want to do an activity and learn a skill. I have been doing yoga for decades and became quite bored and unmotivated, to the point where I wasn't working out at all (and I mean not 1 bit, just walking the dog and hiking). This training reminds me of gymnastics and ballet when I was a child, in the sense that it is rigorous and performance oriented. The strength training, stretching and deep stretching along with pole techniques to upbeat music is fun! I look forward to each class, upgraded to an unlimited membership, and am practically going everyday I can because I want to get better! That's pretty amazing to me from not having a routine prior. You can't sell motivation, it has to come from within, and it has happened so naturally here because its playful and real. I am really intrigued by the diversity in the classroom! Often yoga and barre classes can be very stereotypically homogeneous. Fit for a Goddess pulls together women of various sizes, backgrounds, nationalities, and performance levels. And quiet frankly, I never see these kinda ladies in my yoga class and it's so nice to know where they are! And lastly, I don't do clubbing anymore - so it is refreshing to hear some good music and feel like I can dance my a** off ( when I get to a more intermediate pole level of course) and have a workout at the same time with no hangover. Starting at Level 1 does suck when you're impatient and want to learn tricks, but I understand it's important for conditioning. Came here on a Groupon with 5 of my gal pals on a Sunday afternoon for an introductory class. All I can say is wow! It was eye opening, fun and liberating! The studio was very clean. In fact, when we walked in the instructor was diligently swifter dusting the floor. We needed to come with no lotion and to bring a yoga mat, towel and water. Some of my gal pals couldn't find yoga mats last minute, but was able to rent from the studio for $1. We started the class with intros and ice breaker of introducing ourselves, a little bit about ourselves, how we heard about this class and something weird about ourselves. Then we went into stretching and warm-up. Then the instructor taught us some basic moves and had us practice. A basic routine was broken down and then we put it all together. So much fun!! I really had to let go my inhibitions and channel my inner stripper. Once I did that, it was much more comfortable and it was then I was having fun. So the last time I wrote a review about FFG it was my first time meeting the "pole." Ever since then I've been "in love" and can't get enough of going. I've signed up as an unlimited student which allows me to go to any class BUT nothing higher than the class that I'm in. As an unlimited student, I've learned a burlesque routine and did a few pole tease classes. Now 6 months later, I'm currently taking a Level 4/5 transition class with Lureen to help with strengthening the muscles that we use for our routines. I've been fortunate to be with a lot of the girls that I met from my Level 1 class. Some students will stop at a certainly level but it's a great sisterhood feeling to be moving to the next level with familiar faces. This was definitely the best investment I've made. I have made really close friends, enjoy my weekly girl's night out and am having fun while working out. I wouldn't highly recommend something if I don't enjoy it or have a passion for it BUT I HIGHLY RECOMMEND fit for a goddess. This place is really awesome!! I wish it was bigger, the poles were higher, and there was more space to dance and fly around the pole! They have up to 8 levels, and each 6 week level, you learn progressively harder moves. It's a SUPER good workout and it's really fun. You use muscles you never thought you had!! I do think it's over-priced compared to what you can get in the mainland or even internationally, but because it's the only one like it in Hawaii, that's just how it goes. It is a really good class though and the friendships you gain is definitely worth it, especially if you go up through the levels with the same people! They have open pole classes, and zumba here as well and those are also OFF THE CHAIN!! So ladies, sign up, unleash your inner beast, and get to it! read more

Do not let the words "pole dancing" fill your head with raunchy images. Yes, there is an actual pole, and yes, there is some dancing around the pole. But it isn't what you think it is. The studio guides you in finding your inner goddess at a pace that makes you feel comfortable and always fun to keep you entertained. The instructors foster encouraging, nonjudgmental, empowering classes so you can push yourself to do things you thought you could never do. Truly a workout, so be prepared to use every muscle in your body. It is a small studio and it can be too crowded if there are more than 15 people. Classes are gender separated, which I like, because having a guy there will just make it weird for me. For guys that are interested, please contact the studio, I am sure they will be more than happy to assist! I am no expert at it, but by the end of the intro class, I felt that I could actually hang upside down from the pole! It's all about the GODDESS GLIDE! This class was absolutely amazing! I only went to the introductory session [one time tester to dip your toes in the water!] but I can't stop thinking about it! I want to go back already! I honestly didn't know what to expect when I came with my girlfriend, but we were open minded and ready for anything. First off we had the an adorably sweet and sexy instructor - Gina. She was so encouraging, plus extremely friendly and smiley, it's all about those good vibes! So I automatically felt comfortable and ready to start. There was a lot of stretching and warm ups in the beginning, but they felt necessary for my body, it also got me in the right mind set - sensual&relaxed. After stretches we were informed the rest of the class was going to feel pretty rushed & BOY she was NOT exaggerating! But it was awesome because she wanted to fit in a lot! & expose us to as much as possible - we learned: the sexy walk AKA goddess glide how to approach the pole how to spin around the pole how to turn our bodies and dance on the pole we did a fun wall piece! really using our hips to guide us in dancing... & THE BEST PART WAS AN AIR MOVE! I don't remember the names of everything - but we basically put one leg up wrapped it around the pole then let that guide us the rest of the way..spinning down (most of it's supposed to be in the booty, haha)! OVERALL FUN EXCITING AND EXHILARATING! We did everything in groups, taking turns on the pole! In the end we combined everything we learned together and made it into a quick routine! Which was the "BESTEREST" part. It was a little scary because I thought I forgot everything! But there were also really helpful assistants guiding us through everything and encouraging us! Fit For a Goddess as a whole is INCREDIBLE. Ilana, the owner, is amazing! She is the kindest, caring, most genuine person I have ever met. She supported a local benefit with a donation which was really generous of her. The story touched her heart and she was willing to be involved in any way possible. I am a student at the Pearl City studio and it is ok. It is not the fanciest. The poles are not super high and there are only a few but...the place is clean! The classes are outrageous! The instructors are "da bomb" and the friends you make are priceless. The cost is a smidge high but honestly it is well worth it. It is a great workout and so much fun. I first tried this place via an introductory class that I bought on Groupon. I had no idea what I was getting myself into and was a little apprehensive. The introductory class was a great way to get a feel of what you can learn and the potential for pole fitness. I was hooked. We got to learn our first spin on the pole. A great way to gain a little bit of confidence for a non-dancer like me. Who cares if you can't dance. This is great for strength and fitness by itself! After the introductory class, I signed up for Level 1. 5 classes over 5 weeks to learn a routine. You learn parts of it per class and go through it step by step. Everything is so new and fun. If you're in the women only class, there's no need to feel shame or embarrassed whatsoever. Classes are 1 hour and a half. The first half of the class is spent doing stretches and strength exercises. They are supposed to help or complement the routine you're learning. As a runner-wannabe, with the stretching that I do because of the running, I still learned some new stretching exercises that made me feel great! I love the strength building exercises because these are the things you tell yourself that you'll do someday, or whenever you have time. When you take these classes, it forces you to finally do what you say you're gonna do! It is definitely a workout and you get pretty warmed up. With a full class, you may have up to 20-21 people. There are 7 poles (give or take). So with a full class, you take turns and go in groups. I am super glad I found this. It may not be for everyone, but for those who enjoy it, it can be pretty addicting! Main thing is to have fun! Every few months newsletters with deals are sent. If there is a newsletter with a discounted or special price for their unlimited class package take advantage of it because classes can be rather expensive if you want to take a lot. Pole Tough by Debbie Pollock If you are in one of the following categories then this class is for you: interested in pole, want to level up quickly in pole dancing levels, and/or looking for a new tough intense workout. This class is great for those who are interested in pole lessons because her workout incorporates the pole as well. Currently a level 1 student I'm building muscles needed for harder moves such as inversions and climbing. These moves are only taught to those enrolled in level 3. Her class offers great conditioning which is excellent for beginners. That way when a beginner decides to enroll in a level 1 series class moves taught will be easier to learn because muscles will be more developed. With that being said it is also great for students who want to level up quickly. Lastly, Debbie is extremely fun, intense, and energetic. She incorporates cardio as well as exercises that target each and every single one of your muscles. You will learn of muscles you thought never existed in specific areas of your body. Be prepared to wake up extremely sore for a week. It is guaranteed that you will be working for the entire hour and getting a quality full body workout. Excellent class to take. Open Pole by Debbie Pollock This is an hour long session where students enrolled in a level can clean up her skills. Debbie is available to spot and help students with moves. I find that this session is more beneficial for students who are in levels 3 and above. Pole moves done in level 1 are extremely easy to pick up in class. Pole Cardio by JoAnne Fiorenze I find that this class is a little to sensual for me. However, I like how she taught multiple level 1 pole spins. During the level 1 series I noticed we learn 3 pole spins during a 5 week session. In this class we learned 4 spins in an hour. I find that there wasn't a lot of cardio in the class unlike Debbie's Pole Tough class. We did a ton of squats though. Be prepared for thunder thighs. Splitsville by JoAnne Fiorenze Great stretching class to mainly get the forward splits. Middle splits aren't really a focus for this class. JoAnne takes the time to personally push students to stretch further than the student has gone. It is great to achieve flexibility for splits. If you haven't stretched in a long time or aren't very flexible yet you're inner thighs will be sore. Level 1 Series by Chrissy Domingo Really great class for beginners especially those who haven't done dance or any type of movement class. Students are introduced to simple dance moves to get in touch with ones inner "goddess". Three easy flying moves are introduced. There are ample helpers to assist Chrissy in the class to spot and guide students through moves. Chrissy is very nice and attentive to all her students in class especially when a move is being taught. She constantly cheers on students to let lose in class and express oneself. read more

Totally agree with Kristen C's post. This pole dancing class was supposed to be one of our main events for a bachelorette party. It was very hard in contacting them and to actually speak to a live person, even after leaving SEVERAL messages! After finally getting a call back from them, the lady answered all of my questions, 50% deposit was paid within a week, I was happy with the customer service. The woman guaranteed that we will have an instructor available on that date set and it would be a private class for 10 girls! When it came down to it, she provided us NO SERVICE! The girls were left waiting in front of the studio with nothing to do & obviously no back up plan (because why would there be one). This is very UNACCEPTABLE, no other arrangements were made to have someone else teach the class and there was no notification to the bridal party that the class could not take place! The woman was well aware that this was a bachelorette event and she had a contact number, the least she could have done is call the point of contact and say "Hey girls, sorry I won't be able to do it". I called the same woman back several days after this happened, expressing that i was very disappointed and it is not acceptable but all i got was a "Sorry, I had an emergency that day." She did not sound very apologetic about the situation and I just felt that she's thinking, "Hey, i got other customers coming to me so I could afford to loose you guys!" One of the other bridesmaids talked to her the day after the event and it sounded like the "emergency" was work related or military related. An emergency is an emergency so I understand when those things come up, but the least she could have done is give us a call AHEAD OF TIME and apologize! bottom line is: DO NOT RELY ON THEM FOR A PLANNED EVENT! I purchased a Groupon for an intro class hoping for another form of fitness class. The studio was rather small and hot and there were way too many clients crammed into the room. There were 3 people to a pole and we had to take turns to learn the most basic moves. Any deviation from the simple move of a low spin immediately resulted in a reprimand from the instructor. The instructors were heavy set ladies who were not fit. Just showing us a 7 minute sample of their higher level performance visibly were straining their cardio. Having said that, the atmosphere was friendly and it was a fun experience for my friends. read more

I remember having a co-worker who suggested that I should try out pole dancing because it was fun and a good workout. When I moved to Hawaii, I was looking for something fun to do in town. I LOVE dancing and I have been dancing since I was about 5. Thus, I found FFG on Google and decided to try out their Intro Class. I didn't know what to expect so I was nervous and self-conscious, but my instructor was very welcoming. The class was fun especially when you're spinning on the pole! FFG is a place that allows you to let loose and express yourself freely and confidently, through pole dancing. Never have I ever felt more confident before I took this class. I came back a second time for one of their FREE classes for Black Friday (Twerk 102). Gina was a great instructor. She was so lively and made it so much fun. Omg!!!!! THIS EXPERIENCE WAS AMAZING!!! Thank you Gina for being an upbeat instructor! Your attitude alone made the class fun and I think boosted everyone's confidence so no one would be too shy to let their inner diva come out! I was shocked at first by the size of the class, thinking it would have been more intimate which made it intimidating when I first walked into the class. As the class gets going, you realize that Gina is truly their to instruct with professionalism, encouragement, and humor with all her students. The dim lighting helps also boost confidence while dancing (just a side note). Not only is this a good work out, but it's also a good way to learn some fun stuff to share with your partner when you get home LOL! I hope to be back! read more

I'm a mother of four boys. Needless to say, I adore them to pieces but kind of lost myself. I started FFG last year and it has literally changed my life. My physical body is strong and sensual. My emotional self is confidence and empowered. I gained all that from the ladies at FFG. I've only had two different instructors but we became fast friends and confidant from all the trials and triumphs on the pole. The encouragement you get is very additive. Going to class is almost like a girl's night out instead of a workout. But don't misunderstand me, it is a workout. You will learn sexy moves and how to work the pole. The friendships you make are added bonus. There is no judgement, only encouragement. You will feel like a part of something instead of an outsider. They have many flexible schedules and instructors, all with the same attitude and positive energy. There are five poles and a wall that is all mirrored. The warmups are about 45-50 minutes long and great for strengthen your body and getting you ready. Just try an intro class. You have nothing to lose and some much to gain.
