Unfriendly staff will sit around the front desk, not acknowledge your existence either entering the gym or leaving, very high school feeling vibe. They do not enforce wiping down the machines. I've seen people walk out of the restroom w/o washing hands and use the equipment. One water fountain working in entire gym. Equipment has been down for months w/o fixing or replacing. Don't waste your hard earned money in a place like this. This place has gone down hill fast. read more

Cancelled my membership in person 4 months ago and was told it was taken care of through the app. It wasn't--they continued charging me, and I had to dispute the charges through my credit card. When I went back, I was told I had to pay the balance just to cancel again or they would keep charging me and send it to collections, and it would impact my credit. They then blamed me for believing their staff 4 months ago when they said it was canceled.  From what I've seen on the Better Business Bureau, this appears to be a known issue with Fit Factory. Really frustrating experience and poor handling overall. If you join, don't rely on the app they direct you to--have them process the cancellation manually and get a printed or emailed confirmation before you leave. Also check your statements afterward to make sure you're not still being billed. read more

However I am a person that likes to take classes and with exception of one or two instructors the classes here are very lame, so I only take one or two classes a week and I was used to taking four to six at my other gym I wish Deb L. I switched to this gym due to Covid-19 (my other gym shut down)-- I've never had any problems and if I ever have any questions a faculty member is always super helpful. Awful, they advertise a free day pass on their website and when I got there the young man at the front desk said it's for local people only that are interested in joining and I would have to pay $20 for a day pass. I told him that I live in state and I wouldn't know if I was interested in joining until I try it out. I even showed him the "free day pass" email that I had received from Fit Factory and he said that he would "only" charge me $15. Cancelled membership over the phone after pandemic was over. Since I paid in full for my initial membership. Since they didn't recognized my cancellation over the phone which I found out later. They have started to bill me monthly with an additional annual fee. Their response when I complained was it was in the fine print of the original contract. Totally unacceptable. If I could give zero stars I would. We have not used the facility since March 2020. We went to the facility in February 2021 and spoke with a representative to cancel the membership. We were told we should suspend for 6 months and there would be no charges. Turns out the lied. In September I received an email requesting a payment. I responded to the email and told them to cancel the membership. They didn't. They didn't even respond to the email to tell me they were not cancelling. We now owe $350!!! Most of which are late fees and penalties! 10/30/21 went to facility again to talk with them. Spoke with Isaac. He says he is the final authority there. He wouldn't budge on working this out and stated this was going to a collection agency. I showed him the cancellation email dated 9/20. He told us we could not cancel by email. I pointed out that all they had to do was respond to the email with that info. Isaac agreed to waive late fees and penalties but would not honor our email cancellation. Additionally, he stated the only way to stop incurring fees was to cancel the membership by opening an account online. AND in order to cancel - and stop accruing fees - we had to pay the amount with which we are disagreeing. IS THIS EVEN LEGAL??? I refuse to pay anything for a service I haven't used in almost 2 years. However, it turns out their bullying tactics work. My wife insists on paying to prevent this from going to a collection agency. I want this expunged from my and my wife's credit history AND I want a refund on the fees AND a refund for the time during which the facility was closed. read more

Always clean, staff is friendly and helpful, classes and instructors are great! I hate working out but I always look forward to coming here. Would like to add that now summer is here and its almost 90 degrees everyday, something needs to be done about the temperature in the group fit room and especially the mind/body studio.. I took a barre class the other day and it was so hot and muggy in there (even with a fan on!) we were all sweating so bad it was almost impossible to make it through the workout. We could all tell there was no air on in there and wished the temperature could be turned down quite a bit.. something to consider until summer is over. read more

Equipment is great and a variety of classes to take which is free with the membership I chose. Love the personal training as well, which was also discounted because of my VIP membership. This place blows. I (as well as other members) have been complaining about the lack of exercise bikes for months while 20 or so treadmills remain collecting dust and nobody has done anything about it. Management is asleep at the wheel. I cannot tell you the number of times I have waited for over an hour to get on one of the 3 bikes. I wouldn't even mind having to ride the only working recumbent bike they have if that was open (the other one has been sitting around broken for over 3 weeks). They ask for suggestions and comments, yet do nothing about it. I will be out as soon as my year membership is up. I am sure I can find a gym where I don't have to deal with this nonsense. read more

Taught group fitness there for 4 months and the attention to issues for instructors, was very poor. The sound system, specifically the microphone instructors used to coach classes, never worked. Many instructors provided feedback but were told to stop complaining and that it was being worked on. Most clubs address this in hours, max days, but these issues persist to this day....almost 3 months and running. Resigned because I felt strongly the group fitness classes, without members being able to hear coaching and safety queues from the instructor, were unsafe. read more

All is good as long as you don't ask to cancel! HORRIBLE cancellation policy!! They literally will either force you to physically come in to cancel or require you to jump through hoops. My family has 3 memberships and we did not cancel (although we could not go during pandemic) because we wanted to support the gym during the rough times. We ended up moving out of the area so after 18 months of not going but still paying I called to cancel. The manager, Isaac, was less than helpful. I explained my family situation that I had paid for a year and a half of member dues although I was not using the gym to support and hopefully help keep you in business however now I moved out of the area. I simply asked for him to cancel our monthly membership. He began talking over me and just kept repeating "according to your member agreement" this, that and the other. He said that because I moved away that I could cancel by sending in 3 cancellation requests (one for me, one for my wife and one for my son) and proof of moving and I would still be responsible for charges for 30 more days which includes annual renewal fees! Wait, WHAT? That is how you treat long time loyal members that supported the gym even when you weren't open. WOW! I could never recommend this gym because that type of treatment apparently filters down from the owners and frankly there are lots of gyms with owners that actually care about how they treat their loyal members. When I move back to the area I will be looking for a new gym. read more

I joined Fit Factory a couple months ago and have been personal training with Derek Bairos initially and now train with John Semenuk. Both are amazing coaches who know when to push and how hard to push. I love an intense workout and always get one when I train. I also take the FFIT/Sweat classes and Liz is so great! Really great workout with those classes. I've never come out of training or a class disappointed with my workout or felt like I didn't get an intense workout! Any staff that I've come in contact with are so incredibly nice, welcoming and willing to do whatever it takes to help you be successful whatever your goals may be. I work nearby so I decided to join this gym. I am SO sad that this gym is only in MA and there isn't a Fit Factory in RI. The atmosphere is great. There is definitely a lot of people that go to this gym, but it is never too crowded where you can't get your workout on. This gym is clean, well lit, a lot of equipment, the staff is friendly and the people that even go there are friendly! One con about this gym is the women's area. I just wish there was a larger space, but overall it doesn't stop me from going there. Can you please open up some locations in RI?! read more

The staff at this club is straight up amazing! They work so hard to keep everyone happy, and they do a great job of it! They are so warm and friendly! It never feels like a generic, scripted conversation when chatting with them, and the upper management at this location is incredibly accommodating and patient with member issues. Of course, you can't please them all, like the people who've written reviews who obviously don't understand the contracts they've signed, or the moms who are unhappy with play care when they are paying less for a monthly membership than they would for two hours of an at-home babysitter. So not only does the staff provide outstanding customer service, but they keep a clean club too. It's a nice facility! The only thing I wish were different were the parking limitations, but hey, that's not their fault. Keep up the great work guys! And know that it's appreciated. read more

Amazing gym with Great training atmosphere. The open floor plan brings the old school, golden era training vibe but with all the new bells and whistles. Well organized, easy to maneuver around, separate rooms for different training for example; Crossfit, personal training, yoga, spin class, etc. I'm 35+ and I've been training since 17 and honestly, the most important thing for me is cleanliness and this place is exceptional. From the floor to the locker room I give it a Last but not least I've had the pleasure of meeting the GM, James for the gym and the guy was pleasant, professional, courteous, and very patient. Fit Factory is ok'ish. If you like walking/jogging on treadmill while watching TV this is a great gym. Basically a good gym for casuals. A lot of equipment is behind a paywall. If you don't use expensive training you can't use all the facility. Some of the trainers are kind of jerks as well. Not positive energy types. The managers just want people to sign up for two years and make it a PITA to cancel before the contract kicks in. I had to go back in a totally separate trip just to sit and have a manager badger me about why I didn't want to continue to go to the gym. Definitely bait and switch. Said "try for 7 days without risk". I canceled on day 5 but still charged and a huge hassle. Gym is fine? But equipment on the cheaper side and not sure it will stand the test of time. Yoga instructors are fabulous but not fun doing yoga in an unheated facility. You pay for what you get. read more

I have been a member at FitFactory for 4 years, from the day they opened. I have a VIP membership and pay $30 per month. About a year ago I stopped using the facility. Today I stopped in to see if there were less expensive membership options. When I was told there was a fee of $30 to downgrade and my "Annual Membership Fee" would go up, I asked to waive the fee as a loyal customer who had been with them since Day 1. The General Manager refused. I then asked to cancel my membership and was told I could, but I need to pay my annual fee for next year ($49), because I didn't give them 30-days notice. I asked for the reasoning behind charging me an annual fee and why it wouldn't be prorated upon my cancellation and I was very rudely told, it's policy. I asked who I could speak with and was told it was a corporate policy but don't bother calling, no one in corporate would answer my calls. I was then handed a card and told I had to go online to cancel. Disappointing service considering I kept paying my bills all through COVID when the gym shut down to help keep what I thought was a local business afloat, only to be treated like I didn't matter at all and they just cared about membership fees and dues. So far so good. My opinion has changed over time. When I initially went in to get info on membership I was completely turned off and thought I would never want to go there the atmosphere appeared to be that of a typical gym. I had called over the phone to her information and was told it was best to come in to talk to someone. The employee I spoke with appeared to have no interest in me and the questions I had. He was more into watching the football game. After some further consideration I decided to give it a chance. I reached out to someone over the phone and had a much different experience. I have been a member for a little over a month. I have attended classes only. My experience with the classes has been good. The one thing that I do not like is when you are new it is difficult to talk to the instructor as they have all walked in right before class starts and you sort of have to figure out what equipment you need. That being said I do give five stars to one of the cycling instructors who was fabulous with helping me adjust the bike and very enthusiastic during the class. read more

Do not EVER join this gym. They are absolute crooks!!! I have been a member since they opened and had to put my account on freeze during covid as they closed everything down and I also lost my job. I then had to relocate so I let them know on November 1st I had to deactivate my month to month account while my membership was still on freeze and all the amenities are still not able to be used by members. I was told that my account will no longer be on freeze starting November 28 and I needed to give a FULL 30 day notice I'd be cancelling. Makes no sense considering I was told I can extend my freeze as long as I'd like and I can still not use the amenities I was promised in my contract....not to mention I was under the impression the month starts on the 1st of a month as opposed to two days before month end!!! Amazes me that this is the way a company treats someone who's been a loyal member for years especially given the state of the world at the moment. I am a cosmetologist and would never ever treat clients this way with the state of the world even though times are tough for everyone...Shame on you!!!! read more
