Highly recommend. I came here based on reviews and I'm glad I did. It is an odd location (top floor of a shopping mall) but don't let that put you off. I came alone, so I didn't get one of the tables with a view, but that's just what happens with travelling alone sometimes. I made a reservation to be sure as I wanted 7pm on a Saturday night. If you like Nordic food then this place will definitely make you happy. Toast skagen to start: comes in two sizes, I took the small and it was very generous. Whitefish, pureed potatoes and cauliflower for the main. Lovely cream sauce and the potatoes and fish were perfect. I didn't like the grilled cauliflower at all. Strawberry and rhubarb fraisier for pudding even though I was already stuffed. Very good service. I would return in a minute if I ever visit Helsinki again. read more

Good but not great. The restaurant is in an upscale food court at the top of a mall and it's not clear where the kitchen is. You order at the bar, they give you a table sign and bring out the food. So I did not get a real resistant feel, though it was a real restaurant price. I had the white fish with potatoes and cauliflower and one glass of wine for lunch at around 40 euros. The fish was fine - I had much better the night before at a bistro - and the potatoes and cauliflower were fine if bland. So not worth the trip or money for me. read more

A Yelp find all the way! About a 10 minute walk from my hotel so perfect for dinner on a cold evening after a full day of travel. Yes, they are located in a Mall (5th floor along with other restaurants). That said, after walking in you will forget you're in a Shopping Center. Mixed seating-high top and regular with a Bar area-dim lighting and smooth jazz piping from the speakers made for a laid back vibe. Arrived around 7:30 Tuesday evening and was seated right away. Just about full. Started with a Kukko-local Lager. I liked it. Complimentary house bread was a nice touch. Cured Rainbow Trout starter with Beetroot and Archipelago bread was excellent! So light, and simple with all the parts coming together perfectly! Wanted seconds. Salmon Soup (house speciality) -smoky, vinegar broth, dill, Tuna flakes, seasoned potatoes and dill oil-the Salmon was cooked perfectly-work of art presentation-an exquisite soup and definitely one of the best I've had. Just one of those meals you don't want to end! My Server was exceptional, attentive and took great care of me giving the details of each dish as it came out. So this beautiful restaurant is weirdly in a mall.... I guess that's not so unusual in Finland. Anyway, a friend and I had a beautiful celebratory meal here. My friend tried the salmon soup, and she really enjoyed it. I tried a fish I had never heard of before, but that was recommended by our helpful waiter, and it blew me away! The fish was crisp on the outside and had. Lot of flavor. The sauce and veggies that came with it were delicious. I was really happy with the meal. We also had dessert, of course, and it was light and beautiful. I would highly recommend this restaurant for delicious fresh seafood. read more

During a very, very brief stay in Helsinki I enjoyed a bowl of salmon soup at this restaurant. One word - wow! Everything about the soup was delicious. The broth was perfectly seasoned, the potatoes were tender, and the salmon was divine. Coffee and tea is included with the meal. 18 Euro for the soup was a steal. Tip: I'm not sure what the protocol may be for dinner, but for lunch you order at the counter, receive a number sign, then find a table and wait for the food to come out. read more

Really fun spot inside the mall at Kampi. Once you find it you'll be happy with the menu. We came here on a rainy fall night on one our first days in Helsinki. Staff were kind and helpful, the food was pretty simple but very tasty. I was inspired to order a side of the buckwheat risotto which was probably the best dish of the night. As we were staying in Kamppi, we were so lucky to have our first dinner here in Helsinki. Although we had no reservations, on Wed 7pm, we were seated right away. Finn, our friendly helpful non-Finnish waiter recommended the salmon soup and fried perch with the oysters and scallops. The oysters were from Normandy. As mentioned in other reviews the salmon soup came with a generous portion of salmon with bonito flakes. I definitely recommend everything especially the scallops. I've never had it prepared that way - dill, oil, mushrooms, pomegranate. We cleaned our plates and left with our bellies full. Everything was delicious. I was skeptical because it's in a mall and I've seen the high class chicken teriyakis across US and that's as good as it gets. I was wrong because this is Finland where anything goes like one of the best option for seafood in a hipster-ish mall. This boundary breaking move has compelled me to write an extensive review so buckle up my friends. My two friends and I got this recommendation from another friend and we made a reservation to go at 7pm on Friday. Definitely make a reservation for dinner. I got the Kari's special Tyrni-GT (11,00) and it had fresh buckthorn berries. For my tourist friends, buckthorn berry is a must try. It usually grows in the winter and it's crazy expensive because it's vitamin C count is off the roof, or they say. The drink is smooth and the berries are fun to try. 5/5 The beef tartar (9,00) is amazing - the cheese in it elevates it to another level. Honestly, that cheese combo will make you glad that you came to a mall for a nice seafood dinner. The presentation is strange because you almost expect there to be another portion, but little scoops of these mini meat cubes is something to dream of. Highly recommend. 6/5 We also got 2 piece oyster-tasting for all three of us (30,00 each). The oysters were all from France but they were crazy fresh. Their dill/cream concoction of lets the actual flavor of oyster come through with all its juicy glory. It was so good that we had to get another round of our favorite oysters (we don't remember the name but it's the "mild" flavor oyster from the range of sweet to sour). 5/5 We also got a bottle of wine Telmo Corriente i think (44,90) - a red that's like a white - and it was perfect for our jump from meaty tartar and oyster to fish and seafood. 5/5 The fish of the day was Grilled Sea bass - very light and very whole. You gotta de bone it yourself, but hey you're in Finland you deserve actual fish instead of precut fillets. 4/5 The octopus is so succulent and it's probably the best BEST octopus I've eaten in a long time. It cuts like half-softened butter but tastes like determination to really massage the heck out of the tentacles to bring out this incredible delight on your plate. Each tentacle is 9,00 so you can order like 2-3 tentacles, based on your preference. I got 3 and a side. A killer. 10/5. I also got a side of the house risotto because I saw them make it and it looked really good. It's dairy based and slightly bit too salty for me. The texture is great but it wasn't for me. But still good. 4/5 French fries with miso sauce is pretty good, but it really doesn't compare to the beef tartar and the octopus. Their version of Baked Alaska and carrot cake (each 11,00) is a refreshing take, for sure. I actually never had baked alaska before so I loved this little bit of herb-y but creamy and citrusy dessert. Superb (5/5). The carrot cake was too elaborate for me - it felt like they thought too much. It comes with buckthorn berries on top as well. Overall, our service was great and our food was even better. My friends and I marked it a must-come restaurant for next time we are in town. I hope you do get to try some of the food here. read more

High end eating in a seemingly high end mall, reasonably priced! Since it is at a mall, there is good turnover after the lunch rush, so a good place for a late lunch. Staff is very attentive and knowledgeable about their menu and their beer. Food was perfect. I highly recommend the oysters as an appetizer. Delicious seafood from a high-end food court! Located on the 5th floor of Kampii, Fisken was one of several surprisingly good-looking restaurants (no Macdonalds here!). The decor was clean and inviting, and the seafood was fresh. The waiter recommended the salmon soup and fried pike perch; I went for the latter and added a scallop appetizer. In-mall restaurants can serve good food! Excellent seafood and something for those who don't like it, too. However if you need a quick lunch, skip this. It took a single portion from the lunch menu more than 30 minutes to arrive, and it was half-empty at the time. Unacceptable for lunch-time serving, I deducted two stars for it. We were recently in Helsinki and started our first afternoon having lunch here. The fresh oysters were cold, briny and tasty. But the salmon soup was wonderful! Small sliced potatoes, a full filet of salmon and the most extraordinary broth. Bonita flakes add a great, subtle crunch as a garnish. Since salmon soup seems to be a national dish, we had many a bowl in ten days. The ABSOLUTELY best and the one we finished our visit with was here. I am going to try and mimic this dish, but that broth might be impossible...so good!!! read more
