Sunday, May 18th, Tony and I decided to take a stroll around Fisk University. The Grandeur of the buildings lured me to the campus. So, it was about 10am the grounds seemed so empty but lush and flowing like a park. We parked the car and started walking around the large campus enjoying the buildings and the many historical markers explaining the history in the vast, but old college. Jubilee Hall is magnificent!!! The tower and the enormous size of the building is so beautiful and breathtaking. I had to walk around the building taking photos of this beauty. Also Cravath Hall is a large Glamour building on the grounds of the campus. It was the library and now houses the offices of the President of the college. There are two chapels on the grounds, and they also are gorgeous. One of them is an Art Gallery. If you are in the area you should take the time to walk around and read the history markers of the different buildings and the history of the college. It is amazing. You should spend some time learning the small features that are hidden in the city's vastness... I love to find these hidden gems!!!

Toilet was leaking before I got there and was still leaking when I left

I am a former Fiskite. I went to Fisk my freshman year of college and the conditions of that University are just terrible. If you are a high school student or college student considering transferring, PLEASE do not go here because you're going to be disappointed and miserable. There is no variety in food on campus. Imagine having taco Tuesday, mystery meat Wednesday, and catfish Friday for an entire year. Sleeping in a dorm with mold in the vents, shower stalls, and in the cracks of the walls (let's not forget about the mushrooms too). Going to the financial aid/ student accounts office for help and constantly having to worry. "Do they know how to do their job" and pray they don't say "I don't know" to you four times because you're asking important questions. Not to mention this school can not handle ANYTHING military-related. Because the one person who used to handle it left and was never replaced. Fisk is only a school of they believe struggle and literal throwing you in a stressful and unnecessary situation will make you resilient. I'm being honest they think that. When you bring up a better school they will downplay them and say they have problems. But in reality, their problems are nowhere near nasty and sad as ours. All it does is waste student time, make us hate the school, and feel trapped because we don't have the money to pay the school off to go somewhere else for an education. Don't go to Fisk University. YOU WILL NOT HAVE STABLE WIFI TO COMPLETE ASSIGNMENTS. (Also, I already spoke to SGA, student accounts, and the ANG recruiter on campus. And went to the town hall meeting and asked my questions to the President, don't bother thinking things will change because they won't.) ALL PHOTOS ARE TAKEN BY ME EXPECT FOR 1.

The campus is beautiful especially with recent state of the art renovations and the staff that I have encountered were all very passionate about leveraging a student's, artistic, intellectual and athletic potential. As we all know education is a major issue in our country but this school appears to be part of the elite schools that offer an outstanding educational experience from grade school through high school graduation. It's going to cost you though, with grade school tuition at around $16,000 a year and high-school hovering at $18,000.... you must invest or pray to god they offer your student financial aid which is available. The good news is USN gives over $1.8 million in need-based financial aid to 18% of the students. Even attending the Artclectic event showcased how USN truly invests into it's educational model and really stands out from the pack of sub-par schools that are unfortunately part of the thread of the city.

The venue itself appeared to hold about 800 people or maybe 1000. There was a good-sized crowd in attendance! The lobby was small. The patrons were primarily women. There were several decent sized monitors hung throughout the venue; however, Tara-Leigh Cobble and the activities (trivia, other people talking, etc.) were not projected on the screens. Also, there was no stage, no elevated area for the star, Tara-Leigh Cobble, to stand on, and the seats were stadium-like in that they were slightly elevate. Anyway, getting a good line of sight to the stage was not easy. Because it was female-centered, the women's restroom quickly got messy, with water dripping all over the floor, paper towel dispensers crapped out, etc. It would have been nice to have folded paper towers in baskets beside each sink vice having to walk with dripping hands to the wall mounted dispensers that quit functioning early in the night. Were all the amenities I prefer available at this venue? No. It looked like the "convention center" (my words) was adjacent to a dining hall. There were no food, drinks, or adult beverages available at this event. No food trucks, nothing. This was understood prior to attending, as they advertised you could tailgate in the parking lot as maybe a dozen or so were doing, when we arrived. The campus was clean, parking was ample, and the few staff we engaged with were kind. Did I enjoy Tara-Leigh Cobble? Absolutely! Was her show well executed? It was! Would I attend again if it were held at Trevecca? Yes; however, I would prefer more creature comforts. There was a 15-minute intermission with absolutely nothing to do, except browse Tara-Leigh Cobble's merchandise, most of which is available online.

That being said, let me list the ways that from that perspective, I can provide you with my 4-star review and why they don't get a 5th star. 1. They are creative - I don't mean, they know how to use crafts and make pretty things. I mean that they have a staff and student body that is committed to creating what they envision and they WILL create it. They have the know-how and motivation to do that. 2. I am actress - from that perspective, I have been on several sets with Watkins directors, producers, production designers, ADs and DPs and they are fun-loving and ready to work. They're not afraid of a challenge. 3. Organizationally they've come a long way (sans the final star). Having worked with a local production company as a producer/and various other titles, I've found that communication is key. I will simply state that one must be ready to be open, prompt, and particularly amiable with clients they need to keep and new clients they'd like to work with long-term. It's a relationship and those take work. Finally, I like this school very much, from my POV. It's a great opportunity for creatives who attend and those who'd like to help create (moi) something memorable - something that will be there to reflect upon and hopefully, frame by frame, help to inspire and influence minds and create future filmmakers and individuals who will do so with integrity. There you have it. Take it or leave it. Or try it out for yourself. :)
