The boat is pretty luxurious, well maintained and very clean. Within five minutes of launching, we saw a bear, bald eagles and then sea lions. Later in the Broken Islands, we saw a couple of whales, harbor seals and lots of marine birds. I highly recommend taking this cruise, we saw so many things that we would never have seen if we didn't venture out into the waters of Barkley Sound.

He knew all the places to go and gave such an amazing insight of the different islands and mountains. He also gave us snacks and beverages from locally sourced places. From…read morethe moment we walked on the dock, Captain Zach welcomed us on board, and made is feel comfortable and safe, he even had a scavenger hunt game prepared for our toddler! Once we were on our way, the learning began! Did you know that oysters are one of the most sustainable forms of aquaculture? Or that one little oyster filters a bathtub of water per day, keeping our oceans clean, pristine, fresh and beautiful? We learned so many incredible facts about his family oyster farm, the innovation they are adding to the industry, oysters as a species and the local aquaculture. The boat has both inside cabin space and outside deck space, making it great to enjoy the sea breeze and spray, but also shade from the hot sun. Captain Zach has an incredibly deep knowledge of the Discovery Islands and Desolation Sound, pointing out mountains, islands, bays and even rock formations, and added a depth of history to everything he shared. His passion to share this area of Vancouver Island is contagious! We saw a pod of dolphins, sea lions, eagles, all sorts of waterfowl. At no moment did we feel rushed, it was a beautiful leisurely day on the water - that also kept at 3 year old happy and engaged all day - and ended with the a delicious feast of oysters. We all had a blast and can't wait to be back.

The tour was an extra 30-45 minutes as we had spotted the whale's blow hole misting water off in the distance towards the tail end. It was nice the guide let us spend time trying to see it up close. Our skipper/tour guide Jack was great! The covered boat is quite comfy. Lots of leg room. I wish they had some sort of speaker system for the guide as the motors are obviously very loud. Love the top deck viewing and the fact that there's plenty of room to move around the boat so you aren't seated in one spot for the entire tour. This is a great tourist activity. Highly recommend!

With another boat up and running for marine and eco tours, I find myself over there twice as much now! I've had great sea lion dives, wall dives comparable to Port Hardy, and awesome wreck dives. They're a full service shop with a great atmosphere. Of all the dive stores I've been to, Pacific Pro Dive really knows what they're doing & has the best charters and events!

This was our third wildlife tour in a span of four days so at this point we had become…read morepseudo-experts. What I liked about Adventure Tofino Wildlife Tours is they are the most efficient. It was the shortest tour and within that time we saw harbour seals, a black bear and a raft of sea otters. The tour guide said his boat was the fastest in the fleet so we seemed to get to places quite quickly. The guide warned us we may not see black bears because they hadn't seen many. But then he heard where there was one and after fifteen or so minutes we got to the black bear. And like every tour we were respectfully far away from the black bear. I've attached a photo of the bear and it's at 30x zoom. For the harbor seals we were closer and even closer to the raft of sea otters, which was the highlight of the tour. I know that the black bear is supposed to be the highlight but I would rather see animals closer and it appeared that sea otters were not as skittish. As for equipment, this tour started at the nicest office though you have to pay for parking. The flotation suits looked quite new and very clean. This tour's boat was the most comfortable and easiest for viewing all around. Only one binocular was supplied for the whole tour to share so I was glad we brought our own. The whole tour cost almost $500 CAD. It's questionable whether it was worth it to see a black bear far away for twenty minutes, some harbor seals for a few minutes and a raft of sea otters for fifteen minutes. But I am glad we did it.

We saw Pacific White Sided Dolphins in a group of 150+, Sea Lions feeding on salmon, Humpback Whale mother and calf, black bear and incredible tidal whirlpools. Everday is different when you go out. Today's tour took us through Discovery Passage and around Sonora with dockside lunch on Stuart Island at Big Bay. Jos and Rentia are incredibly kind, courteous and experienced. Very safety oriented and well connected with the local guiding and business community. Their Ikaika enclosed boat was very clean, quiet, fast and accesible for all abilities. Highly recommend Eagle Eye. If your fortunate to get Jos, he'll share some great life stories, photography and deep ethic for protecting the Pacific coast, its wildlife, and our planet.

DSYC has been in business for over 20 years. Unfortunately, new owners are now operating the…read morecompany this year. My experience with them has been very poor. Two weeks ago, I called them about renting a powerboat for 2 weeks to explore the Hakai area north of Port Hardy. There was time available for the boat I was interested in and I was ready to send them a deposit, but had a couple questions for which I wanted a written response. They seemed irritated that I should have questions. I sent them an email asking if charts would be provided for the trip, if the boat had an inverter, if the heads flushed with fresh or salt water, if spares and tools were onboard, and what type of heating system was on the boat. This is information that other charter companies provide on their websites and are reasonable questions, especially in consideration of the remote area in which I planned to cruise. After about a week, I received a response saying that these questions were technical in nature, and that they would have to have someone research the answers for me, and they were leaving for the weekend. Really? That's of concern. How does their fleet manager schedule preventative maintenance on the systems aboard their boats when they don't know what systems are on the boats? Lack of preventative maintenance could ruin a charter trip. The last time I called them, they just sounded irritated with me and still didn't have any answers. If this is how customers are treated when they are trying to spend $8,800 with them, just imagine how you'll be treated once they have your money. I'm going to spend my money elsewhere. If you decide to do business with these folks, I would suggest that you insist upon paying with a credit card, as other charter companies accept. It may be your only recourse for action should things go bad. Caveat emptor...
