Best beaches ever in Atlantic Canada! I absolutely love to…read morego to Kellys Beach for swimming and a fab time on the beach whenever I'm in Canada during the summer month. You can choose between warm and shallow lagoons and the Atlantic. Also great for a walk in the Park, where you will meet lots of squirrels and gulls, the occasional Racoon and with just a little bit of luck even a moose or white tails. I've never seen one, but according to the national park informations you can also see whales, dolphins and seals.

Excellent nature trails for hiking or cycling. Kellys Beach is excellent. It is located on the middle of three offshore dunes, all with fine sand. Paved parking in abundance, snack bar, washrooms, showers and boardwalk access to the beach. The northern and southern dunes require a boat (rentals available in the park) or a determined swim (NOT recommended) to get to them. The middle dune is 6.7 km end-to-end, the northern 4.5 km & the southern 7 km. At the seaward end of the boardwalk there is a supervised swimming area used by families. Tide fluctuation is minimal and the sea bottom is sandy and shallow so the water is considerably warmer than many other NB beaches. Turn left and walk 1.0 / 1.5 km south and the clothing-optional area begins. This is NOT an official nudist beach but c-o use is tolerated -- lewd conduct is NOT TOLERATED. There are lots of shells for the kiddies, lobster boats to watch offshore and if you walk all the way to the end of the middle dune you may have to share the beach with sunbathing seals -- no guarantee of that. There is a lot of space and few people south of the supervised area. Please keep our beach clean. Please note that in the early part of the summer the southern part of the middle dune is closed in order to permit undisturbed nesting areas for the endangered Piping Plover (Charadrius melodus).

As the weirdness of this sunk in, I turned around and drove back and I was introduced to one of the most interesting sights in PEI. I got out of my vehicle and toured the grounds and I knew that I would be returning with the kids very soon. The next morning I spoke to the kids about the attraction and the question was "Is it scary or cheesy"? I had done some simple research on the computer and I honestly couldn't answer but I told them what I knew from the pictures. They decided that they had enough information to go. Twenty minutes later we were walking up the stairs. I had four kids with me, two of them teenagers and fearing that this wouldn't be scary enough, I went a bit overboard in the first room, pretending that something grabbed be from inside the couch. Immediately, they were terrified. They wanted me to lead, they wanted to hold hands in a chain, and my eldest really wanted my smart phone to use as a flashlight. I obliged every once in a while, but we mostly wen sans flashlight. There is a single path through the mansion and every 20 meters or so there's an escape route for the most timid folk and although the kids were seriously considering escaping at the first exit, they pushed forward and made it through the whole house. The first 5 or 6 rooms are the scariest in my opinion; if you make it past those, it gets brighter (quite bright upstairs). The main floor are mainly dark rooms/scenes with a few automatons and very cool moving 'portrait'. Upstairs is laid out like an apartment with windows, so there was natural light throughout and the kids were able to handle this area with no fear. The basement is setup like a Tudor town (very much like the shambles in York). It also has a couple 'attractions' with the bottomless pit and the revolving room; both really fun. If you successfully emerge, you come to the gardens which is split into two sections. The largest is filled with interesting things like ponds, walkways, an automated fortune teller, photo op areas and the smaller area has a few rides (tilt-a-whirl, plane ride, wagon ride) and some games. We spend just as much time outside as we did in. I paid about $55 for four kids and myself for about 3 hours of fun. It wasn't cheap, but I think it's good value for the money. So much so that the kids begged to come back the next day, and we did.

Wow!!!! Having been very disappointed by a similar attraction named "Spook Hill" located over 3,000 kilometers away in Lake Wales, Florida (http://www.yelp.com/biz/spook-hill-lake-wales), I decided to check out Magnetic Hill to see if my car did roll uphill this time. Located off of TC Highway 2 Exit 450 (Highway 126) adjacent to the Magic Mountain Water Park and Wharf Village, there are plenty of signs directing you to the Magnetic Hill attraction. A $5.00 per vehicle gate admission is charged (during peak season), and you are directed to a staging area to read further instructions (in English/French): 1) Drive in right lane to the bottom of hill. 2) Pull over into left lane beside white post. (where the paved section becomes a dirt road) 3) Place vehicle in neutral. 4) Release foot from brake. 5) Guide your vehicle backwards up the hill. Reluctantly with skepticism, we followed the instructions to a T and guess what????? Surprisingly to us, OUR CAR SEEMED TO ROLL BACKWARDS UPHILL FOR OVER 700 FEET!! Well, Magnetic Hill is actually an ILLUSION with the surrounding terrain disguising the true horizontal level of the ground. The "secret" behind Magnetic Hill is illustrated on a sign at the adjacent Wharf Village (check out the posted review picture). This roadside illusion was pretty cool. Overall, this pitstop off the highway was worth checking out on our way to Prince Edward Island. Now I can say that I've been to both Spook Hill in Florida and Magnetic Hill in New Brunswick, being impressed by the latter. That's my 1,100th Yelp review, and first milestone review in Canada, eh!
