My wife and I were devastated when our Kodi let us know it was time for him to go, but Dr. Decker made our nightmare become a dream come true. We couldn't imagine taking Kodi to the vet and have to go through the process of checking into a clinic, sterile metal tables and strangers...no way. I don't care how great Vet Clinics are or can be, nothing beats allowing your pet to go in the comfort of their own home/yard. During drop off for my dog to be neutered I was told that pickup would be the following day after 10 a.m.. I arrived exactly at 10 since I had other things to take care of that day. The older front office lady reacted very rudely, raising her hands and saying, "I guess nobody listens! I've told customers dogs won't be ready until after 10." Sadly, this wasn't our first unpleasant interaction. It's very evident customers are not a priority. Due to this ongoing treatment, we've moved all our animals elsewhere and won't return.

We were advised we could bring her back if things didn't work out. No time period was placed on the return. In Jan we called saying things were not working out - they said bring her back. We took her over there - then they became rude. Said they don't take back after 3 mos - nothing has ever been said about must return by 3 months. No suggestions on what to do. We have a dog that is not working out and I guess I must now call the pound and have her put down -- sad. She's a good dog, just not working out with us. By the way they have room to take her. We agreed to do a drop off fee- still refused. Unless your 100% --- do not adopt from this facility.

The door was locked, and a sign stating no surrenders before 1 p.m. They didn't care it wasn't my dog, that I was only trying to be a good human. One worker told me "this happens every day" Really? Isn't that the definition of insanity? How about we CHANGE POLICY then? After a lucky call, her owner was located. She had been missing two weeks. Earlier this week, there was a news story about dogs being dumped in Brown county. I wondered if any of those had been refused at the shelter door as well. I realize it's a donation private shelter, and they do what they can, but maybe it's time Brownwood has a city shelter that is open full time as we have so many irresponsible people here. It would be great to see legislation passed that unless you were a licensed breeder, your dogs must be spayed or neutered. Same for cats. This problem is preventable, but no one wants to change, seems common here.
