Captain Ty was phenomenal! He had to be a one man crew after his first mate bailed an hour before the charter, but he did amazing. Caught a bunch of Spanish Mackerel and had the opportunity to take some home if we wanted. We did the 7am half day charter and it was great. It got near the end, but overall it was a really fun experience. I'd definitely recommend if you've ever wanted to do some deep sea fishing. At the end we did some shark fishing for a while. The whole thing lasted around 5 hours in total. It was a perfect amount of time and a wonderful experience! read more

Went on a 10 hour tour with Captain Ronnie and First Mate Cross. Even though the fish weren't biting today, we still had a great time. I think what really sealed the deal with me was watching FM deeeeeep cleaning where we all were most of the day. Since this was my first time deep sea fishing, I wasn't sure if this was normal but, just to be completely honest, it was cleaner than any restaurant I've been to since the pandemic. The crew was fun. We're all sore. We have lots of fish to eat and none of us got sick! Shout out to FM for keeping us entertained between (and during) catching fish even thought I may have threatened to slap with with a fish. Joking but not. Great time. Thank you guys! read more

I one point I was just thinking about rebaiting and Daeson showed up out of nowhere and shoved a piece of squid on the hook. Original post got removed reposting Fish hook charters. Maybe a great fish trip, but I wouldn't know. Booked a trip for 3 on July 3,2020. One month in advance got to the dock checked in with the captain went back to my car to get my cooler and the other two in my party came back down. Got ready to get on the boat and was told they over booked and was unable to take our group out. Captain Ronnie didn't even have the guts to call and say I over booked and don't have room to take your group. Instead he took off into fish hook 1 and had the captain of fish hook 2 tell me. What a p---. Very very poor customer service. Didn't even try to make it right. I had to call and fight with the booking company to even get my money refunded. read more

Booked a private outing 2 days in advance and was confirmed. Once we arrived at the dock the Captain never showed up. We waited for 2 hours. Another boat eventually showed up and we were informed the Captain had a death in the family a day prior. We were never notified and waisted an entire day and Uber fares getting to and from the dock! We were offered another boat but due to a severe cigarette smoke allergy could not go with a Captain that smoked. If the owner would have contacted us to let us know there was a death we could have found another Charter. Horrible communication by the owner of this fleet! read more

We have booked three times with Fish Hook 2018, 2022, 2023 for two people. The first time we honestly had a decent time out on a full boat. Caught a couple of small sharks. Fast forward to 2022 the weather supposedly was not going to be good so it was canceled. In my opinion the weather was fine but that was his call. This year, we get a call after 7pm the night before the charter saying they hit something and had to weld their boat so they canceled the charter. They said maybe find someone else. As a licensed captain myself I was able to see their boat fishing the morning we were scheduled to go. We called and talked about it. He then changed his tune and said, "well I had to shuffle people around." Guessing he had a high dollar group approach or couldn't fill our boat and took the higher dollar and canceled us. When you are on vacation and have limited time I would not trust this company. read more

BEWARE! The most unprofessional and shotty run charter we ever attempted to use! Booked paid and got instant confirmation directly through their site followed by not one but TWO reminder emails Only to get there and the guy seem clueless. First admitted oh there was an issue and "i think we overbooked". Stared at our confirmations for 10 minutes then gave a BS story about not having enough ppl when we could clearly see all the other ppl and see he had too many. They state IF there is a problem and they have to cxl due to not enough ppl they will call to reschedule and refund. Never happened obviously. My son took off work and drove hours to make this trip...and barely got an apology for them not providing it. My son got a call back with more lies after we left pissed...guy said he didnt call yesterday bc he was sleeping. What a jerk. We had booked seperately and they never did give me any sort of call..and given how pissed I am that may have been a good thing. They double booked and choose to take a private group that they could make more money off of and screw the ppl who booked the split charter. Pretty crappy run outfit. Never again would I consider using them and will tell everyone possible to BEWARE of using them. read more

I can not speak highly enough of these guys. They were professional, engaging, and very knowledgeable. There were 5 of us. Including a 5 year old. And they did everything to make sure we all had a good time and caught plenty of fish. We trolled for Spanish mackerel and then went out a little further to catch some sharks and sea bass. I would hugely recommend this charter to anyone especially with kids. Captain Ronnie is the best!! read more

We had really high hopes going out after reading other reviews and I guess maybe it just wasn't our day. Tyler was great, very helpful and on the hook when we had a fish or needed bait. The captain didn't engage with us very much at all. Fished his own pole or stayed in the cabin. We went for the 4 hour trip which included only about 45 minutes of actual fishing once we left the marina got out to sea and traveling between spots. Between the 4 of us on the boat the most any one person caught was 4. Very disappointing trip and I felt bad for not tipping Tyler at the end but I had already sank 170$ into the trip and hadn't really gotten much out of it in terms of enjoying the trip or catching much fish. Love deep sea fishing and have always had a good time and I get that maybe today the fish just weren't biting but it still sucked for us. read more

We've gone on multiple trips (over many years) with Fish Hook Charters. We had tried the party boat trips in the past and absolutely hated them. We love chartering the boat for the half day trips and Fish Hook never fails us. Anson and his first mate, Tom, delivered as usual. Anson did his best to put us on the fish, got us doggies, sea bass and Spanish, an eel fish and pin fish. Some were keepers, others not. Which is great. We enjoy the personalities, stories that we are regaled with and the family time. For those that are leaving comments about not tipping or tipping poorly...shame on you. If you can't afford it, go on a party boat. Fishing is not called catching for a reason, some days are good and others not. Perhaps the Captain didn't like you or wasn't in a talkative mood. Their job is to be polite, teach you how to use the gear, bait you up and get you to and fro safely, not entertain you. Your obvious lack of class is shown through not tipping. I wouldn't have wanted to converse with you either. These guys feed their families through tips, remember that. As always, first class trip gentlemen. Four of us went and we had a really good time. We were on a boat that took six. I did a lot of checking on the internet and some of the boats were pretty expensive. This one was 75$ plus tipping first mate. Very reasonable. I read other reviews online saying good things so we gave it a try. Very pleased. Captain and first mate very friendly. We caught a lot of Spanish Mackerel while trolling. And they were good eating. We also caught a lot of sea bass, but no keepers. Caught some small sharks also. Ronnie even called us the day before our planned trip, telling us there were small craft advisories so he rescheduled us for another day. Very disappointed in our fishing trip on 7/23/29. Booked the 5 hour evening trip. It was a split party of 6. My party consisted of 3. I go on about 3 of these each year and this was by far the worst experience that I have ever been on. We trolled the entire time. For those that don't know what that truly means, let me explain. 4 rods were in rod holders at the back of the boat and the boat continuously drove around. When we did land a fish, the deckhand would yell fish on, the captain would stop the boat, a person would walk to the back of the boat and the deckhand would hand you the pole and you would reel for about 25 seconds at the most. In the 5 hours, we only landed 5 fish, so that left 1 person not even touching a fishing pole the entire trip. So yes, 5 hours of fishing and you only touched a fishing pole for 25 seconds if you were one of the lucky 5 people. That to me is a complete rip-off. Comparing to other trips that I have been on, the other trips we switched around trying different places and techniques, to get the people more involved with actually fishing. I understand nothing is a given with fishing, but you should at least let the people try to fish, other than just taking a boat ride. I wouldn't recommend this charter to anyone. Very bad experience and I feel that I was completely taken advantage of. read more

AWESOME EXPERIENCE!! Family of six ( four young ones ages 8 to 18) decided to try a deep sea fishing experience. We had a blast!! The crew was amazing! They were determined to see that we caught fish. They were incredibly attentive and patient with our kids that must have tangled lines a dozen times. I took my daughter fishing for her 8th birthday and was looking for more than just a fishing trip with 100 other people. Since this was her first time in the ocean, I did a lot of research looking for charters before deciding to go with Fish Hook Charters. I must say, I couldn't be happier with the experience. We did the 3/4 day mixed boat charter of 6 and Captain Braxton and Ben(first mate) really made the trip enjoyable. They let my daughter catch the first fish while trolling, then the first shark, and the hospitalitly continued until we got back to shore. They even let her drive! Highly recommend this charter and Captain Braxton ( Ronnie's partner) as your guide. read more

Great trip and Rick and Capt. Ronnie were great recommend using fish hook charters. Even though the fish were not biting the trip was worth it, booked a six hour trip but the fish did not want to cooperate so Ronnie helped us out on the cost. Again can't say enough in favor about a this charter. Only thing I recommend don't meet up with your high school buddy after 2 years and act like you both were 18 I your late 50's the day and night before. Thank Ronnie and Rick. Wish I would have read this review board before booking with fish hook echarters. I booked a fishing trip for my boy friends birthday. It was the reason we went to Myrtle Beach. The trip might have been wonderful if the captain showed up!!! My group along with 6 other people booked on their other boat sat waiting for an hour while trying to call the captain who had his phone off going straight to voicemail. After an hour one young man shows up and says that his boss could not find 3 more to go out on trip with us. Why didn t we get a call the night before at least. Also, how do you explain not showing up for the 6 people who had a full boat? They took my credit card in case I stood them up, BUT they stand up 9 people with no consideration. Ruined our whole trip because we came to fish and didn t get to fish! I don t recommend taking a chance with these guys because of their lack of consideration.
