One of my love ones ended up in the ER and was referred to First Urology. The Dr that he ended up seeing was Dr. Ganesh Rao. There's pros and cons about this place. The pros out weigh the cons.
PROS:
1. Dr. Ganesh is very experienced and knows his craft well. Definitely a good surgeon.
2. The front desk and nurses are professional and helpful in person.
3. They have different Urologist in the office to choose from.
CONS:
1. When calling the office, it's really hard to get accurate information over the phone. We were told different answers each time we called concerning my love one's care and surgery. This is really frustrating when caring for a love one.
BOTH PROS & CONS: JUST A TIP:
1. It's really hard to get a first appointment when referred from the ER. When you first call and tell them you were referred by the ER, they take your message and you don't hear back from them for days and then they schedule you way out. But if you call and say you were referred by a friend, they make an appointment for you right away. I thought that was kind of odd. I'm sure there's some type of medical or insurance reason for it, I just don't know what.
2. They stay booked and appointments are set really far out. This can be very frustrating and mentally challenging when caring for someone newly diagnosed with cancer. This is not their fault that they stay booked. I just want to prepare anyone dealing with a love one with cancer, that the scheduling process can be hard mentally.
3. This Dr works with Norton Hospital. We found it a little difficult to combine a non Norton related oncologist with this Norton urologist office. Also had some difficulties getting a referral to a non Norton related oncologist from this office.
4. Dr. Rao is straight to the point. He does not sugar coat anything. Not much of a question answerer. He goes straight to diagnose and treatment, and good at what he does. So if you are someone that needs a Dr to answer millions of questions that newly diagnosed cancer family members have or someone to cuddle you through the process, then he will not be the right choice for you. But if you don't need that, and just need someone to find the medical issue and a good surgeon then this is the right Dr for you. read more
