There are some key points that set Hudson Children's Center apart from other daycare centers and pre-schools: 1. A good portion of the day is spent outdoors, in their large backyard filled with picnic tables, swing sets, and climbing structures. 2. The staff are caring and engaged, meaning you won't find them preoccupied with their phones. 3. There is a major focus on daily art projects and creativity. 4. There is a beautiful inground pool in the backyard. During summer, any potty-trained child is able to participate in daily free-swim in their floaties with staff in and around the pool, keeping good care of safety. 5. Also in summer, a dedicated swimming instructor provides private swimming lessons for every child whose parents opt to sign them up for lessons. The extra charge for private lessons is a major bargain. The core staff are Robin and June who have worked at the center for many years. They set the tone for peace, calm, care, and creativity. Every weekday morning, I bring my daughter to pre-school. I interact with the staff and the children. I feel welcome and comfortable. I know my daughter is well-liked and well-cared for. I know that every day, she is being enriched with creative projects and fun learning by her teacher, Wendy, and a great team. Every afternoon, when my wife comes home with our daughter, I see that our daughter is happy. She's had a great day at Hudson Children's Center. My daughter's pre-school class is diverse, which is important to my family. The center has a private, online group for parents. Almost daily, teachers share with us photos of our children participating in enriching activities, including gym time, programs with their dedicated music teacher, field trips, and general play/silly time. I feel like the team encourages my daughter's creativity and individualism. Even at 3, she likes to choose her clothes. Sometimes she'll opt to wear a costume. When she arrives at the center with me during the morning, she is met with enthusiastic and supportive staff members who notice her, notice what she's wearing, and compliment her. Depending on your work schedule, one negative might be that the center is only open until 5 pm, so you must arrive before then to pick up your child. Honestly, children are at daycare for so many hours during the day... They may arrive as early as 7:30 am... The 5 pm pickup time makes some sense. In my experience, after 5 pm, children are longing for their parent pickup and hoping the next person that arrives is their parent to pick them up. Of course, the "early" pickup time won't work for everyone's work and personal situation. I recommended Hudson Children's Center without reservation. To summarize, my daughter is well-cared for. Her creativity is fostered. The education is enriching. The swimming pool and swimming lessons are a huge bonus and value. The staff are engaged, creative, and caring.

The bright,…read morespacious rooms, a gymnasium, and large fenced-in playgrounds offer the opportunity for individual development in a creative and challenging setting. The Center is non-sectarian, open to all children and their families, regardless of race, cultural heritage, political beliefs, national origin, disability or marital status, or sexual orientation. The Center is open year round from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. We have full and half-day programs with specialized teachers for music and gym. Morning and afternoon snacks are provided and parents are asked to send a lunch with their child. During the summer season, we enjoy special recreational activities and offer individual swimming lessons in our in-ground pool.

The Cottage…read morestood out to me due to their extended staff retention, friendly and patient teachers, community social events, and their offerings of additional activities (karate, swim, yoga, etc). After my first child was born (because you can never predict how it will go), I ended up pushing back my start date and changing it to part time for the first month. They were very accommodating, although I'm sure it was a scramble. They have lived up to everything that was reviewed back when I was interviewing. When I had my second child, I briefly considered hiring a nanny for early morning flexibility and not having to take time off due to child sick days, but I ended up enrolling her at the Cottage because I felt so comfortable with the infant teachers and the school. We remained at the Cottage into 2018 when we moved out of the area, but experienced safe, reliable, and friendly teachers and helpers from infant, toddler, to the 2's classroom. I wouldn't say it is perfect, but the director does her best to communicate changes and any concern I've had was quickly addressed by the teachers and never had to be escalated higher. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a center based childcare.

The directors know every parent and child by name, and the teachers send frequent photos, videos, and other updates throughout the day. The kids spend lots of time outside and bring home fun art projects on a daily basis. They have taken the COVID-19 pandemic very seriously and have added appropriate protocols to keep everyone feeling healthy and safe. The family coordinator has helped me change our schedule numerous times without even a blip. I can't recommend this center highly enough, they're just awesome.

When they started they barely could hold a pencil right never mind write letters. Since they have been there within a month they not only can hold a pencil right but write letters (and enjoy doing so)!! They love going to this school. They especially love the science lab (we do too) and the indoor playground/gym. Unlike their previous school, this school doesn't keep the kids outside when it's too cold (30 is the cutoff) and when it is too cold or rainy they still get to spend their energy in a warm setting in their indoor playground which is the equivalent of those indoor playgrounds with safe and fun climbing structures. Another positive about this school is that the directors And teachers listen when you have a concern and make Sure it's addressed. Oh and meals are included although I tend to send my twins in with extra food because they are going through a growth spurt and are picky eaters. While this school is double what we used to pay it's absolutely worth it. My kids have flourished there and it makes going to work easier. Thank you OFLC for a job well done!

When our child…read moreshowed signs of speech delay, Suzie, the director, proactively identified the issue and guided us toward additional support. She explained the resources available to us through early intervention and private providers, going above and beyond her responsibilities. She helped us navigate the complex process of getting the right support for our son, and her staff was always available to provide input to his providers. As first-time parents, having advocates who knew our child so well was invaluable. The daily updates through their app brought us peace of mind, and over the two and a half years our son attended, we accumulated over 3,000 photos. The transparency and communication were wonderful--we always felt informed about what was happening while our child was in their care. Suzie and the teachers never hesitated to make time for conversations, and our son was always excited to go to school to see his friends and teachers. What more could you ask for? We would not hesitate to send another child to Kiddie Time!
