Horrible! Do not bother. I made an appointment for Botox. I got ti my appt she said she did NOT have any Botox left! Awful disrespectful behavior! Waste of my gasoline & time. Unacceptable business practices. Go somewhere else! Reply- Botox was the appt not for you to sell me something else. Your customer service was horrible. NEVER have I signed up for Botox, told I was getting Botox only to be hoodwinked into you wasting my time and energy trying to put a chemical I've NEVER heard of into my body. You didn't apologize for the inconvenience of YOUR mistakes using up all your product yesterday and refusing to cancel. DO Not waste your time here folks!! All the staff at First State MedSpa are very nice. I had a unfortunate experience with IPL. This is a cautionary post to be smarter than me. I bought a Groupon package for three IPL treatments. * first treatment was without any adverse reaction; * second treatment, I had blistering around my mouth. I sent pictures advising First State Med Spa.via text and they responded immediately and said to use Vaseline/aquaphor. * third treatment, is the mistake-I assumed that based on my 2nd treatment documented outcome, that my last treatment would be altered knowing the outcome IPL #2. The pictures are the result of the 3rd treatment. Blisters, oozing - definitely burns. I communicated with the MedSpa immediately who called in a prescription Silvadene. This is the text I received after notifying them of the outcome of #3 IPL appt: "I want to get you on a prescription of Silvadene just to be safe. While we did go more aggressive, you skin gave no indication that it couldn't handle it. Will you send me your pharmacy info so I can get that called in for you?" My skin GAVE an indication on the 2nd treatment - blistering. Knowing that my file was not updated nor reviewed for my last treatment gives me pause. I was asked to comeback so that they could see me in person. Another hour drive back / forth and that they would reimburse me for the RX - never received reimbursement of the RX. I visited last here years ago for botox and I remember it being a wonderful experience. The doctor was extraordinarily friendly and refreshingly honest. I had fantastic results, however didn't return because I work in NYC and it's easier to pop in somewhere over my lunch break to have it done. I called today (during the mandatory government lockdown) expecting to get a voicemail so I could just leave my info for whenever they reopen to give me a ring. What I didn't expect was for the call to go right to the doctor and have him pick up! I stuttered and tried to hurry off the phone so I didn't waste his time but he was the sweetest and took a few minutes to answer my questions and sit and chat about life in quarantine. I will make a point to visit here from now on in the future. It often feels like cattle herding up at the spas in NY, I forgot what having a genuinely nice doctor feels like. read more

My first experience this morning was wonderful! I had my IPL treatment with Tara and it was great! I just wish I opted to go for the whole face treatment not just spots though. Their esthetician is yet a new employee/esthetician AND with ONE year experience. Riley. Look at their Facebook page where they introduce Riley (only a couple months ago). The turn around here is awful. It CAN NOT be all the employees that pass threw & never them! I called for an appointment and the receptionist "Halley" is so rude & sounds maybe 17. I love this practice. They have reasonable prices and the staff is exceptional, like family. Procedures are explained in detail and an honest opinion given if you need that procedure. (compared to just wanting it) The goal is always to make you look natural and feel refreshed. The facials and peels are the best! I've been to a few places and while I have no complaints about them, this is my favorite and where I'll continue to go and refer friends. read more

My friend recommended this place and said the doctor and staff are the nicest that one can find in this area. After my several visits, I completely agree. Scheduling and rescheduling is super easy, the staff is always accommodating and welcoming. Minimum wait time (I've never waited longer than 5mins) The doctor will only do what's good for you. If he thinks that you're wasting money, he wouldn't recommend you to do it. If there's something else he thinks might work better for you, he even refers you to other doctors. I've brought my sister and my friends here for treatments and they all loved the service and the results. I'll definitely recommend this place to more friends! read more

I had a great experience with Dr. Shapira. I had postpartum smart lipo on the lower abdomen. He was capable and professional and did a great job. The staff was friendly and helpful throughout the process and, to get to the point, results are great. I'm now 6 months out from surgery and, in a swimsuit,I honestly don't look like I had a kid. Recovery was straightforward, I was on my feet taking Motrin only within a couple days and the doctor made it clear he was always available for any questions or complications. 5 stars, and if I have any more kids, I know where I am going to be restored :). read more

Very disappointed. The doctor could not perform procedure (botox injections) without the assistance of staff member. The procedure did not take and was told "sometimes that happens" "you just need to get more". I paid $1000 and walked away looking precisely the same. I tried contacting the salon several times and they just tried to sell other products and dismissed my concerns. I did come for a follow up and when seen by the doctor, he was very disingenuous, condescending and dismissed my concerns - so much so that the assistant had to escort him out of the room to speak to me in private as it was clear I was upset. It should have been a red flag when I came in for the consult he told "time hadn't been good to me". You go to these places to make you feel good and not be told "you've neglected yourself over the years" I kid you not - the doctor actually said this. BTW - in all honesty I look pretty darn good for my age all I was looking for was a little pick me up. Very, very disappointed. read more

The entire staff is truly amazing! I had previously gone to a place in PA for years and suffered in pain every time and felt awful. Today at First State, I had Pixel, Botox and filler with no pain! I was shocked! And I look great! You can tell that the staff and Dr. Shapira care a great deal. They took a team approach and made me feel very safe and at ease. Dr. Shapira is exceptional in his knowledge; care and concern for his patients and he takes the time to explain every single step. My spouse has Lipidema and he is an expert in this area. If not for him, we may have had to go to Germany where knowledge of treatment for this is way ahead of the U.S. We are preparing for 5 procedures at this point and gathering paperwork to attempt to have insurance cover the Water Assisted Liposuction. It is not a cosmetic issue, it is a medical issue and Dr. Shapira is passionate at helping those who suffer with this disease. The entire staff is welcoming and friendly and we are so happy we found him. After discussing the difference of opinion with the owner's wife she still tries to tell me I'm wrong when I show it to her in writing she try embarrass me into not standing up for myself. I bought a groupon for laser hair removal. Normally I don't "yelp" about things but this was honestly the best $250 I've EVER spent. I am getting my bikini line done, and after only 2 out of the 6 visits the groupon included, I barely have a bikini line left. I'm in disbelief how well this works. The aesthetician that does the hair removal is professional and very nice. She makes you feel comfortable. I would recommend this place in a second for hair removal. I can't talk about the other services as this is the only one I've had done. read more

I completed a laser treatment package about two months ago and it was the best decision ever to come to first state vein and laser for it. The staff is awesome and answers all of your questions before treatments so your not going in unaware of what is going to happen. I heard a lot of mixed feelings on how the laser feels and can say that the machine they use is painless. I am so happy I made the decision to come here and am now hooked on the laser hair removal. My daughter bought a groupon to this business and was very happy so I bought one also. When I went for the consultation the Dr told me if he did the procedure he would be stealing my $$$.
