These guys are always great. They installed our garage door openers back in 2015. If I have any problems, I know I can call them and they come right out, this experience today was no different. I called them. They were able to come out the next day and fix what I thought was a spring problem on the garage door. It turned out to be something more simple. They are very honest and I would recommend this company to anyone for garage door needs. read more

While a was in the hospital our garage door broke and because I repair things on my own I didn't want my wife to be taken advantage of by these big companies, I had a friend that just used First State Garage Door and she was very happy with the repair and service .... I call first state at 7:30 am and Gavin answered ( which I was expecting to leave a message) he scheduled me a time for the next day. Soon his arrival Gavin called me and told me that some springs had snapped and he would take care of it while he was there , Gavin did the work in a timely manner and he even put a new roller or pulley on free of charge which in today's world that's unheard of. Thank you again for your prompt service and your honesty it's greatly appreciated I will be a future return customer for sure and so will my friends ! read more

We had First State Garage Doors out to install a new garage door opener and hardware and to get a quote on a new garage door. Gavin did the installation. He was professional, on time, and clearly answered all my questions. I see why this company has so many positive reviews. I will recommend them and plan to use them again in the future. read more

I recently moved to the area and my garage door motors were nearing the end of their natural lives. Called and was able to provide an estimate over the phone, after I took some pictures of my existing setup. The pricing was competitive based on a couple phone calls I made. Easy to schedule and appointment and the work was done well and to my full satisfaction. read more

New doors, hardware, and openers installed today. Gavin did a fantastic job. Can't tell they were at my house-cleaned up everything and left it the same as they arrived. Excellent service, installation, clean up, and post install walk through. I would recommend First State Garage Doors for repair or installation. It's hard to find solid service like this--and why I'm writing a review. read more

My garage door opener was broken. I needed to get it fixed, pronto! My experience with other garage door places was not good. My husband decided to call this company based on the reviews. Frank and Gavin came out the next day, in a timely manner. They diagnosed my garage door opener problem. Since it was old, I bought a new system. Frank and Galvin were very friendly and competent. My new garage door opener works well. read more

The spring broke on my garage door making it inoperable. I called First State Garage Doors. An appointment was booked for the same day. Gavin and Daniel arrived on time. They were super nice guys and more importantly totally competent. There was no question that they knew what they were doing. Price was comparable to other over the phone quotes. I really can't say enough positive things about this business. Highly recommend. Thanks Gavin and Daniel ! read more

Our daughter recommended we use First State because she was totally satisfied when she called them. The gentlemen that arrived were young but definitely knew what they were doing. The garage door opener moves silently on its track. We are a couple both in our seventies and needed a lot of hand holding and these gentlemen gave that to us. We will definitely referred them to our friends. read more

Our garage floor opener bit the dust after many, many years. I decided to use First State Garage Doors based on their positive Yelp reviews and a mediocre experience with another local firm. Frank is a great guy and even called back the same evening after I left a message saying that I needed service. He and his helper came out the next morning to diagnose the problem and the next business day installed a brand new opener. They are friendly, reliable, and I am so glad I called them. I would recommend them to anyone in need of garage door servicing! read more

I have been doing business with 1st First State Garage for over 20 years. They installed our 1st and only garage door. We have never been disappointed with their services. They are friendly and respectful people and I am delighted to know that this is a family company and his grandson is doing an excellent job as well. I fully recommend them to everyone. read more

I needed installation only, most places were overpriced & or didn't do installation only. I came across First State Garage Doors, and I am glad I did. Mr. Frank was very prompt in his response to any inquiries. I found him to be very pleasant and professional. I hope not to need any further work on my garage door but if I do, I will not hesitate to reach out to First State Garage Doors for my business. read more

Great overall experience! Next day service. Good pricing and warranty. Took time to help set up my cars homelink and educate me on the product. Would definitely recommend and use again in the future. read more

Frank and Brett are consummate professionals. Priced well for great product and service. I don't normally write reviews, but this experience was exceptional. In an industry where you would not expect repeat business, these guys earned the strongest recommendation. The fact that it is a veteran owned small business, although not related to my experience, adds to my desire to support these guys. read more

The cable on our garage door snapped. I wasn't able to open the door myself. I asked for help through Yelp messenger where I received a response in less than 30-minutes with a quote and soonest availability. Frank was able to come out first thing the next morning. He was very polite, friendly and provided me with some good advice to further maintain my door after completing the job. His price was extremely fair. I would look to Frank for any garage door needs. I wish more businesses operated this way. read more

I called and left a message that one of the cables on my garage door had failed. I knew that same day service might be tough so I mentioned to them that if they could help me get my door up so I can get my car out, it would be a great help. Phil called me back about 15 minutes later and explained that while he couldn't get my door fixed that day, he could at least help me get my door unstuck and put it up so I could get my car out. He came out promptly and got my door open and said he'd call later to schedule a time to fix the cable. Later that night Phil called and he scheduled an appointment to come out the next day. He called the next day and said he was running early and said he could come out early or he could maintain our original appointment. He arrived, went to work, and promptly fixed the problem. I especially liked how he explained what he was doing and why, taking the time to educate me. Now, the door operates even smoother than before! The icing on the cake was the price. It was very reasonable compared to some other estimates I had gotten. I offered Phil a tip, but he declined. Although I suspect this review might prove more valuable than any tip ;) read more

When your garage cable snaps and you use the garage door a lot, prompt service is critical. That is exactly what happened, even though I called after the weekend. He came out the same morning and offered prompt and friendly service. There may be cheaper places (although the chains have to fork over 15% to the mother ship and are usually are more costly. You also pay for that top placement on Google). The speed of the service and the high quality of work made for a good experience. As they say, you get what you pay for. read more

Frank and Freedoe were great. They were the only company who genuinely tried to look at the problem i had with my garage door and tried to fix it and not sell me on a nee door. They were very responsive and punctual, and were transparent with the work they were going to do. They are priced very fairly since I've had mutiple instances over the past few years where i used another company - who not only charged more but also didn't do a good job. I recommend their company to anyone who needs good work done at a fair price by honest people. read more

I don't know where to start about this company. Not sure if I should start with the owner, Frank, or the tech , Freddie, that repaired our problem. So that said, if I could give these guys 100 stars I would. I'm so impressed that there are business people like Frank in the world today, and tech's like Freddie, it just makes you realize, the world's not going to....7734 read more

The garage door would no longer open and close and after doing a bit a research, my husband and I decided it wasn't something we wouldn't be able to fix ourselves. I found First State Garage Door on Angie's List and liked that it was a smaller company with only a few employees. I feel like you always get more personal service and First State absolutely delivered! I called on a Monday and left a message about the problem and Phil got back to me about an hour later. We scheduled an appointment for the next day. Around 5pm on Monday, Phil gave me a call and said I was on his way home and would I like for him to stop in to take a quick look. I said that was fine and he came over and looked at the problem. Phil said that most of the time this was an issue with a bad motor. My problem turned out to be a temperamental motor that was acting up due to old age. After he fixed our problem, I asked if he thought I should get a new motor. Most people would immediately say yes to get more income, but Phil said he would use it until it no longer worked. On top of that, when we asked what we owed him, he said NO CHARGE! He said it was an easy problem for him to fix, it was his business, and that he loves what he does. Phil absolutely went above and beyond for us and will forever have our business and we would highly recommend him to anyone we know. read more

These guys are wonderful! I ran into my garage door and could not fix it on my own. They returned my call in a timely manner and came out to fix it. They didn't charge a crazy service fee, but rather a fair price for parts and labor. I highly recommend using First State Garage Door and supporting a local business! read more
