He fixed the appliance, but grossly overcharged and refused to return text or phone call when asked…read moreto clarify/justify. Here's our experience: Called A-1 Appliance to come out and fix a leaky washing machine. Setup appt. Russ came, and all seemed good. Maybe it's 'years and years of experience' but what struck me as odd is he just visually inspected the washer and said it's the drain pump (he did a cycle but no taking off any parts of the machine). He then tried to convince us to buy a new washer. $95 for the service call and no actual inspection.....it felt really odd. We did ask for him to quote the fix though to have an option (fix or buy new). he said he would credit the $95 if we proceeded w a fix (reasonable, and I expected a service fee for his time to come out......although I go back to he didn't actually inspect anything). Days later he said $400 w labor for the fix. We did our research and decided since were were already $95 in and a new washer which then means a new matching dryer would be super costly (1k+) we said let's fix it. Russ called days later, said part is and we scheduled a time. Came into the house nice enough and said 'hope it's not something else once we get this part in'. I half jokingly said 'I sure hope not b/c we went forward with the fix based on your analysis during the 1st service call' (go back to him not inspecting it). Left Russ alone and he fixed it...at least as I'm writing this now he never actually ran the unit to my knowledge....guess i'll find out during that first load. The issue I have is w payment. He gave me the total bill amount I owed today. It was $400. I questioned him on this saying the $95 credit should come off and this is where it started. He said 'oh it was $500 and i'm giving your credit of $95'. We looked at text exchanges he had wiith my wife (she was working out of the home when this happened) and this was never said. I paid on CC. When he left I looked at the invoice $225 for the part (reasonable enough) $15 Tax (gotta pay tax man) $260 in labor. Say what????? We have cameras so I just had to check when he came/left. 1 hour!!!!! Note he told us his labor rate was $95, the cost of the service call (he charges 1 hour for the service call). TOTAL all In was $500 In total I feel he overcharged us by $160. If we add the part and tax and then include one hour of labor ,which would have been credited as we already paid it, We should have given him a payment today of $240.....yet I paid him $400. In short the labor wipes out from his service call credit and we should have paid the part and tax only. We called his office (wife answered, left this message in short and to call us). No response. We texted same night. No response. We always pay bills. We believe if you work, you get paid. I'm having an issue of gross over charge.

Our double oven combo wasn't heating properly and this gentleman looked at the issue found the minor issue and repaired it and he basically did it as apart of the assessment. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for fast, reliable, professional and trustworthy service. There was no price gouging or trying to exploit us at all 10/10 for service!!!!

Upon…read morearrival, the tech quickly removed the old microwave without doing a single measurement or even looking at the new one, still packed away in the garage. After removing the old unit, he asked why I was replacing to which I pointed at the new fridge of a different brand/color and said it works fine as we are just updating all appliances to match the new fridge. Then I pointed to the new gas range sitting next to its old counterpart that is scheduled next to be installed. Now, he goes out to the garage and is moving fast to finish the job quickly. So fast he takes everything out and now does his first measurement. Houston, we have a problem. He stated the cabinet is too low and he starts explaining what needs to be done. He shows me the tape measure from the outside of the kitchen cabinet where the microwave is explaining how it's too low. I keep asking him if he can help and he kept going on and on. Finally I stopped him and demanded a straight answer to which he said no he couldn't install it. Then, he started cleaning up and began to walk out of my house with my old microwave. I stopped him halfway out the door and demanded he put it back so I have a working microwave tonight. He replied saying it was a dead unit. Say what? So he did reinstall my old microwave and now I'm out $75 because he demanded money to reinstall or he was leaving it right there in the middle of kitchen floor. I don't appreciate being blackmailed into paying $75 to reinstall a microwave he should not have removed in the first place. I would have gladly paid $75 as a service call, but his failure to measure anything and demand for money to fix his oversight was a grave mistake. He called me back after this review was initially posted offering more excuses and calling it a diagnostic fee. If that were the case, it would have been $70 as the upfront email stated. He then offered a partial or full refund if I agreed to retract this review. I told him to keep his money. Their policy "No Job Too Small Or Big - 100% Satisfaction Guarantee" clearly falls short as they told me my job is too big and they won't refund my money unless I censor my free speech. I get unforeseen things happen, however ignoring the customer and details of a job, then attempting to cover it up is completely unacceptable. James is unethical and not someone I would ever recommend doing business with again.
