The beds are not comfortable in comparison to other hotels. Signs are posted stating people must wear masks in public areas and yet they aren't, and the front desk is not enforcing the mandate. Again. I'm having terrible luck with hotels on this trip. +$160.00 for members or guests is a scam. The Comfort Inn at Sioux Falls is magnificent compared to this hotel and much less expensive. Franchise owners are selling substandard rooms at overly expensive prices. Read up on the Americans with Disabilities Act. Unbelievable. If the manager or owner/s read Yelp reviews I have a notice for you. I have celiac disease, I'm allergic to gluten. Celiac is considered a hidden disease under the Americans With Disabilities Act. This morning I filed a report (see photo) because the Comfort Inn at Sioux Falls, SD., didn't provide any gluten free breads (not fattening sweet muffins) or cereals. But for the other guests - wow. +$160.00 a night you should have magnificent gluten free options for those with gluten allergies at breakfast tomorrow morning. Yes. Great breakfast and genuine concern from the staff and manager I would also like to acknowledge a friendly and respectable staff and my room was clean. However, a motorcycle tourist year round I still feel the one star because of price is justified.

It's located across from a 24-hr truck stop, but there's a small refrigerator, microwave, and coffee pot in each room if you would rather stay inside. The beds are comfortable, much more so than I expected, but the pillows need an upgrade, unless you prefer flat -- as in the thickness of a small, folded towel -- then they're fine. The bottom of the windows are several feet, four maybe, from the floor and unless you're tall, you won't be doing much more than popping your head over the windowsill to see if the sun is up. The advantage to that is no car headlights shining in the window when people drive up, and those standard window curtains that always have that 1/2-inch gap between the panels letting the light in, has no impact. That's a useful feature because this is a classic motel -- you drive your car right up to the door to your room. It's surprisingly quiet, must be because it is an old-school construction, but it could also be that it's up a small hill. There's a front window facing your car, and a back window in the bathroom, so the only neighbors are those on either side of you. It's a key to enter your room, not one of the plastic keys, but a genuine metal key. I liked it already when the manager handed that to me, and the retro feel didn't stop until after I checked out the next morning.

"Your Mother's Basement Room That She Still Cleans All The Time"…read moreThis was an entertaining place to stay, right from the beginning. We got in somewhat late and the lady who helped us check-in wasn't adept at doing this task. It took a long time as she figured out how to do it, and she used some very colorful language in the process. After the paperwork was processed in about 10-15 minutes, she didn't know where our room was so had to walk us over to the diner and grab a younger gal who knew her way around. Back we went to the lobby and finally to our room. This room totally looked straight out of the 70's, but was clean. We had no problems staying there and the price was right. If you're not looking for fancy-schmancy, this place is just fine. Ok, so there was a bare bulb and some grout missing in between the bathroom floor tiles, and a few cigarette holes in the bed covers, but the place was clean and that's what really matters. The only odd thing about our room is that it had very, very thin curtains on the windows - no shades. So the bright morning sun streamed in and woke us all up earlier than we wanted. So if you want to sleep in late, wear an eye mask. Other than that, it was ok to sleep in. The diner was able to serve us the next morning, we brought in our own soy milk for cereal and they had no problem with that (we're vegan). Room Tip: Check your room for shades if you want to sleep in late, or just wear a sleeping mask.

The front desk gals were kind, the keys to the room were actual KEYS, the beds were comfortable, and everything was clean. It is nice to experience a non franchised hotel with its original character and decor intact! If you are buzzing through Wyoming, I would recommend stopping at this hotel in Douglas instead of going the extra 30 miles to Casper.
