Douglas is a neat little town in Eastern Central Wyoming. Although Douglas is far from Camp Guernsey, the Army National Guard Base, you would think it reaches the parking lot of this dated "Shang-gri-la" considering the 'bomb crater' you have to drive through in the parking lot.
Stepping inside is entering a disruption in the "space time continuum" because you are greeted with the finest in mid 70's architecture
Several warnings should've been heeded, but I though "how bad could it be?" There was a sign at the desk that said , I am paraphrasing, "if you are unhappy with your room, let us know before you spend the night...cause you won't get your money back in the morning."
When I checked in, it was early in the evening, before 7 PM, never have I been in a hotel where the cleaning staff was working so late. Maybe they were super dedicated and spent an hour in each room making sure it was a place fit for "The Last Supper."
First thing I noticed was in my bathroom, there was a roll of toilet paper that looked like it had been rescued from being dropped in the toilet. "Hey there's still good paper below the stuff covered urine!" (See photo) Not only that, they probably saved 20 cents that could be added to the hotel owners Bottom Line! They don't teach you that in business school!
And hey, like that was bad, they even left someone's used wash rag in the tub for me. I could wash my face with a wash cloth that just scrubbed someone else's ass! Only getting better.
As I was looking for a place to put my suitcase, I noticed someone had stuffed the peep hole with toilet paper. I was going to unplug it, but I left my gold thong at the dry cleaners and didn't want to disappoint any long distance OTR Truck Drivers if they were to look in and see me in my boxer briefs.
The "restaurant" had menu with a few things, nothing notable, but I didn't get sick eating any of it either. That is a plus, since I grew up thinking that diarrhea was normal.
When I woke up, I decided the shower was prolly off limits, decided I should wash my face, brush my teeth and hit the road. That is when I noticed was appeared to be some kind of "dookie" on the sink backsplash.
After that, I didn't think this would be the type of place where I would like to get breakfast.
I did think about siphoning some gas out of my truck and burning all that I had brought into the hotel in that bomb crater in the parking lot outside, but wouldn't you know Charlie Sheen was filming some WW2 Comedy movie in the parking lot and they were using the crater as a foxhole. I says, "hey Charlie! I could give you my dirty clothes and I bet you get scabies from wearing them!" He just kinda looks around, like he doesn't know where he is at, guess that Tiger Blood is catching up with him. read more
