I did my own roots for a year and although not perfect, my hair was healthy and in good shape. My hair is very fine and fragile but I was told that the owner at Aveda Mane Street, Jeffrey, was the best. I booked with him and spent over five minutes explaining that my hair was very fragile and this is how you have to treat it. I was explaining that you cannot use a brush on it wet or it will break off, use a wide tooth comb only, and please be vey gentle. My hair was at a place where it was very healthy and I wanted to keep it that way. I could see he was becoming impatient and he asked "so, what do you want?" I replied I wanted my roots done but the most important thing was to keep my hair healthy. Halfway through the colour application, I could see that he was very sloppy and colour was getting everywhere. I repeated "just roots, right?" But he kept going, putting colour on my whole head WITHOUT doing a test strip first. I was nervous. After half an hour I was more nervous. Where was he? He had now left the colour on now for 45 minutes and I could hear my hair crunching as he washed it. I knew what had happened already, he had fried my hair. Hair should not sound crunchy. I have coloured my hair for 40 years and know how it should look and feel. My hair was not going to come out of this well He basically ignored everything I said about how to treat my hair, grabbed a paddle brush and started hacking at my wet roots with no product - no leave in conditioner, no smoothing lotion, nothing at all. i started to say something but knew it was too late. My hair was already fried. Oh, and the blow dry wasn't dry. I walked out with damp, frizzy, dried and fried Hair. He does a terrible, unfinished blow dry. I felt he rushed through it. Long story short - the next day my hair was breaking off at the roots. i could feel my scalp, there was no hair. My ponytail was about a third of the thickness it was. He literally balded me, leaving me with half my hair thickness. Not only that, my hair was partially black, not the lovely auburn shade I came in with. He absolutely destroyed years of hair care in one hour. I cried for weeks. That was in 2021. It took a full four years to grow out all the damage. I had to wear a hat for a whole year. if your hair is fragile, special needs, or you just need to baby your hair, do not let this man touch your hair. He doesn't care if he fries your hair, he just wants the money, then NEXT PLEASE. And yes, he does great stuff for the community, a good person, just a bad hairdresser. He does not care about your hair, only making money. I will never go back to that salon. Ever. It took FOUR YEARS to grow out about16 inches of hair. Jeffrey, supposedly the best in the (Owen Sound) business, fried my hair with no apology. I will never step into that salon again. If you do, don't book Jeffrey. Just because he is the owner, does not mean that he cares about your hair. I ended up finding a lovely lady in Meaford who has babied my hair and has helped me get it back to the state it was before I went to Jeffrey. This has been the worst four years of my life, hair wise, all because of Jeffrey.

The cut was pretty quick, only took about 20 minutes compared to some other asian salons in Toronto that took an hour with the same result. Been there twice, got worse on 2nd visit. I'm early for my appointments & always had to wait 20+…read moremins past my appointment time because the owner is talking to girl clients catching up. When washing my hair, they give a new girl who thrashed my head around like a noogie, not comfortable. Also they got water everywhere soaking my clothes. Then the owner moves super fast because she's behind & I get a super fast 15 minute haircut with so many flaws. A terrible faid, terrible neckline shave. I give photos to work from & I got nothing like it. I'm a male & this is the service I got.

For years, I didn't think it was possible for my hair to achieve a natural looking blond colour. After a terrible colouring job elsewhere, I went to Lisa to help correct it. She did a phenomenal job fixing the horrible blending the job that was done at the other location. She lightened my hair so that the blond came out beautifully. I am seriously blown away by the colour and can't believe how good it looks!! The first photo is the colour I came in with, the second is the colour after Lisa!
