Jess gives a great color and cut and is very personable. The location of the shop is pretty convenient too.

Spent three months travelling throughout Maine and although there was only three CVS pharmacies in…read morethe entire state, I was both surprised and relieved that there were actually more Aveda Salons and this one 45 minutes from where we were staying. I was doubtful that they would agree to respond to an internet inquiry as I wouldn't be a repeat customer but was pleasantly surprised when not only they responded but put with one of their most senior stylist as I was sure I'd be put with a newbie. I understand everyone has to start somewhere but I had a sudden health crisis a year ago that resulted in major hair loss. I was subsequently deeply concerned about a neophyte coloring and trimming my hair. I emailed them my regular stylist's "recipe" and Naomi was an absolute master at her craft. She did an incredible job and was very much a subject matter expert as to what I could do to protect my hair that was coming back in and asses how much new growth I had given it was all uneven. I am strictly team Aveda for years and years but often the sacrifice is the personality of the stylist and although I'm fine with silence, Naomi was the absolute coolest and a complete delight. Do hair and your psyche a favor and schedule an appointment with Naomi, you're worth it and so is the experience.

She asked my opinion about many details to be sure I liked how it looked. Her pricing is more than reasonable compared to what most stylists offer, and she even traveled to our airbnb in Gouldsboro on a day the salon is closed. We genuinely enjoyed meeting her and are happy she was a part of our elopement day. Thank you, Eena!! @hairbyeena

Carmen was the lady who waxed my eyebrows! She asked me exactly how I wanted my brows. And she listened! They were perfect! She took her time with giving me the look I was hopping for! I HIGHLY recommend Carmen! I will definitely return for my next waxing!!

1 STAR -- Absolutely Unacceptable…read more I honestly don't know how a business can operate this way and think this is acceptable customer service. I walked into SmartStyle without an appointment and asked how long the wait would be. The employee checking me in asked another stylist if she could cut my hair. She said yes, and I was told 20-25 minutes. Great. I sat down and waited. and waited. I could see the stylist that was going to cut my hair still cutting an older ladies hair and after 45 minutes she cleaned up, went out back and then past me and proceeded towards what I thought was a bathroom break. After another 10 minutes I asked if she was coming back and another stylist said "Oh, the girl who was supposed to cut your hair left for the day." Excuse me... WHAT? So apparently, the stylist who was supposed to cut my hair simply left, and nobody thought it might be a good idea to tell the customer who had been sitting there waiting for an hour. Then I was told I could wait another 45 minutes and someone could cut my hair. At that point, I had already wasted an hour of my time because your employees couldn't communicate with each other or with me. If you tell a customer 20-25 minutes, they have every right to expect something reasonably close to that. If the stylist leaves, TELL THE CUSTOMER. Don't let them sit there for an hour and then casually offer another 45-minute wait. This wasn't just a long wait. It was a complete lack of communication and respect for a customer's time. I walked out without getting my haircut, and after this experience, I won't be coming back And will tell everyone to find somewhere else. SmartStyle: if you don't respect your customers' time, don't be surprised when they take their business somewhere else
