First Flight has a solid daily routine for the kids, including snack time, lunch, and nap time. They have both indoor and outdoor play areas that are private, gated, and secured with a locked entry, which we really appreciate. There are multiple classrooms for different age groups, and the classrooms themselves are bright, clean, and actually nice to look at. There have been a few teacher changes over the year, which at times made things a little tricky, especially since our son (like all kids) has specific instructions and needs. That said, communication has improved a lot, and right now everything is running very smoothly and consistently. My wife and I have looked at several other daycares while considering a move to a different part of the city, and honestly, when you compare price to what you're getting, it's hard to beat First Flight. I could be wrong, but they left me guessing after my 7 forwarded emails and 4 missed calls. I'm supposed to get "priority" but this was everything but. Very disappointed. Thankfully I found an amazing preschool that is responsive and that I can trust my kids with. I wouldn't leave my kids here even if they called me back because of Gaby's unresponsiveness. My daughter has been attending First Flight for two years now--she started as an infant and will be turning three this December. Even though I've since moved out of the area, I continue to commute here because of the trust I have in the staff and the incredible growth I've seen in my daughter. Her current teacher, Miss Karla , has been wonderful--a perfect balance of caring and affectionate while also providing the structure toddlers need. She has been a true partner in helping us with big milestones, like potty training, and her support has made such a difference. When my daughter was in the infant room, Miss Tatiana was equally amazing. She helped guide her through those early developmental stages, especially with motor skills, and made the transition so smooth for both of us. The teachers at First Flight, along with directors Miss Gabby and Miss Angie, work as a team to support each child's individual needs and goals. I receive daily updates not only in person at drop-off and pick-up, but also through the app this center uses SproutAbout, which includes details about meals, naps, activities, and even pictures throughout the day. I love that the center provides engaging daily activities that keep my daughter learning and exploring, and they also host monthly special events where parents can join in and connect with other families. My only feedback would be for the owner of the facility: I have seen caring and dedicated teachers leave for other job opportunities. These teachers are the heart of this center, and offering them competitive pay along with staffing 1-2 teachers above the required ratio could make a big difference. This would not only support teachers in being able to take time off when they're sick, but it would also help parents (who may not always understand that teachers are human too) feel reassured that the center is never understaffed. Choosing First Flight has been one of the best decisions I've made for my child. My son has now been attending First Flight for a couple of months. It was recommended by my friend Debbie since I was looking to transition my son into a school. My son had been attending daycare with a close family friend that recommended for us to get him into a daycare with a school curriculum. It was not an easy transition for my son but all the teachers reassured me that he would be ok. Now my son is thriving in a new environment! He has made new friends and is learning new things everyday. My son now wakes up excited to attend First Flight. We started our daughter here after being on the waitlist and eagerly awaiting First Flight to open around the time she was 1. At around 13 months they reopened and we were very excited about the facility, the commitment to training that the teachers had, the welcoming environment, and honestly over time, the way my child lights up when she sees her teachers. Ms. Nancy and Ms. Chelsea hands down were pivotal in helping me get my child integrated and into the routine of going to school while still providing so much love and care, and all while "keeping it real." I feel good knowing I can tell them anything that's going on at home and they'll continue to support. Ms. Gabby is a great friendly face that my daughter now flounces in in the morning to greet consistently every day. Overall, we're very pleased and grateful to our consistent and excellent caretakers that go above and beyond to make sure my baby feels like she's at home. I also will say the amount of growth and learning we've seen at home from going to First Flight is excellent. We've been at first flight for about 8 months now and I'm so happy to have found this special place for our daughter! Like every parent fears, the early childcare search process is overwhelming - waitlists, insanely high prices, location relative to your home/work, and overall feeling COMFORTABLE leaving your precious cargo there! We toured several options in the area and joined waitlists that we ended up removing ourselves from after realizing how happy we (and more importantly our daughter) are here. There's been very little teacher turnover (we love you Ms. Chelsea & Mrs. Nancy!), the communication with the school has been good and constantly improving as they continue to grow after reopening post Covid under new ownership/management (we get many adorable updates each day via the App), campus feels very secure & safe, it's wonderfully diverse and they host adorable events for students & parents often (Father's Day, Mother's Day, etc). If I could make one change it would be to make the menu slightly healthier (I'm a strict sugar / non processed food mama at home) but I'm simultaneously very grateful not to have to pack meals yet and at the end of the day a few goldfish / Graham crackers is not going to impact her long term. I do believe they accommodate dietary preferences for families that request it, I just haven't done so Overall, we love our first flight family and are grateful for their support in these precious early years! read more

We love First Flight! After looking into and visiting too many schools, my husband and I walked into this school and we knew it was the school we wanted to send our daughter. The classrooms are what we remember when we were kids, they were colorful and full of work the children and teachers did. You just get this good and positive energy as soon as you walk in and to top it off the staff is amazing too! They take such great care of my baby girl, it makes me happy to send her off every morning and know she'll be taken care of. My baby boy started attending this daycare at 3.5 months and we love it. The director is very friendly and caring and develops a relationship with each child at the center as well as their parents. The infant teachers are very loving and patient with the babies. The classrooms are large, everything at the center is brand new, and they provide meals and snacks for the kids as well as diapers and wipes for the babies. Could not dream of a better daycare situation for my family. The building is clean, secure, and well kept. The staff are absolutely the best humans ever, I have felt comfortable leaving my child with them since day one. My daughter has attended since 3.5 months, and is now in the toddler room. At every stage her teachers have taken the time to communicate with me about her growth and development, and have kept me updated on how her day is going. They have plenty of outdoor time, classrooms full of age appropriate toys and activities, and fun lessons/curriculum for each age level. My child has been in this school since 7 month old. It's a great school. It's the best kept secret because it really is there to serve the LAX employees and tenants, so no advertising needed. I looked at 7 local schools before final selecting this one. It is by far the best school, for many reasons: 1. The facility is the state of art, designed for a child care center with the most complete equipment: washers, dryers, fridges, microwaves, phones, toilets, sinks in every class room. Lots of space for kids of all ages to play indoors and outdoors. The pace is very well kept, well lid, and clean. 2. There are surveillance cameras and keys to enter the facility. It's patrolled by LAX police. 3. The school is operated under strict guidelines, so your child's carers are under watchful eyes for their performance. There are different levels of family communications sheets for kids of ages. As they grow older, they require less detailed communications from school. 4. It has a great curriculum. As soon as the children are able to sit up, they are introduced to play, music and art. Teachers are diligent. 5. Diverse children, all well cared for. 6. This facility offers the best infant care. The care givers work with families' schedule and provide food or needed care as specified to the T!! 7. I learnt a lot from the teachers. They know how to teach, care, and correct the kids when needed. Kids change so much in the first years, its hard trying to work out what things they are capable of. There are cons: 1. Right at the top range on tuition. As a community member, you pay a premium. 2. Pay extra for summer activities and music classes. 3. No personal favors because its a business. 4. This daycare/school has been FANTASTIC! The teachers/carers are so well trained. They know my son's name (of course), they know my name, my wife's name, even my mom's name and dad's name. Every teacher! And they treat the kids so well. My son spends the day there a few days a week and is literally sad to leave. He has great friends, great teachers who really do care and who really do take the time for each child. I can't say enough good things about this place. Granted, there is a waiting list, but there should be for a such a place. Look, there are a few things that parent's should look out for in general when choosing a day care facility: 1) is it secure: Yes. This place not only requires you to enter thought a secure retracting gate (with you car) with a key card (upon which you enter a giant green grassy lawn which looks like so much fun for kids), but you also need your own electronic chipped keycard to enter the building. 2) teachers who know you: every teacher in this place...and I mean every one...knows my son. They know his likes, dislikes, allergies (but he has none), preferences for play time/toys, eating time, sleeping time, etc., etc. It makes me think they study each child's record...which is AWESOME. I feel so comfortable leaving him there. 3) does your child love it: Completely. He has great friends here. Pretty sure the little guy even has a "girlfriend" which is adorable. I like to think my wife and I provide a happy and fun environment for him at home, but he leaves this place seeming sad that he has to leave. 4) are the hours good: You can drop your child off as early as 6:15am and pick them up as late as 6pm. And for a nominal fee the hours can be extended. 5) do you, as a parent, feel good about it. Again, yes. Look, there are a lot of places that will watch your kids. I want mine here...and that says a lot to me. Here's an example. They have a Summer program that's included in the price (side note - the price is very reasonable) that includes everything from visits from the fire department to learn about what they do, visits from the zoo so the kids can see/touch animals, walking visits to the local farmer's market, visits from the circus who do face painting and many other things, and the list goes on (you can, of course, opt your child out of any of these). 6) do they listen to me: You want your child off binkies/pacifiers? They'll help...just tell them. Want your baby bottle fed at a very specific angle? No problem...just tell them. Or just let them hang out and let the teachers do their job, which they're great at. I can't go on enough here. Anyway, as a new-ish parent, who had a full time nanny for 10 months prior to First Flight, I see the HUGE benefits this place offers. Great kids. Great teachers. How nice is to leave our kids in good hands! High quality daycares are scarse. Brain Paper Scissors is very unique because it has a great concept, letting kids to be who their are, that is allowing them to be the best they can be, based on their own creativity and engagement. On top of that, they get to learn Spanish from a native speaker. I worked with Taïs as co-teacher and I know her very well. I highly recommend her work. As a first time mom I can't even begin to say how thankful I am for this wonderful daycare. My son started when he was about 4 months old and I can't say enough about how great the staff is from the teachers in the classroom up to the management team. The facility is gorgeous and it is not run like a baby factory like most of the daycare's I looked at and even experienced with Beach Babies in Manhattan Beach.
