Being a tourist in the city this week I decided to venture out towards Papworth village (the home…read moreof the infamous Papworth hospital and my place of work as of next month!) The bus station is easily located in the centre of the city. I struggled this morning largely as I couldn't find an information kiosk to check where I needed to be. Although I knew the number of the service I wasn't sure of the stop but when I asked one of the bus drivers they were very helpful (even though it was run by a separate company) and pointed me in the right direction. There are no shops or eateries within the station itself but due to its close proximity to the city i don't think this is too much of an issue. Overall I marked it down due to the difficulty in navigating stops and it appeared a bit disorganised with one driver getting off and shouting for passengers to Ely.

Sudbury Hill is on the Piccadilly line and it, is under the Harrow borough…read more The stations ticket office only open at peak times, during the week, but other than that you use the ticket machines. Also on entrance to the station their is a newsagent that also tops up oyster cards, that is also handy when the ticket office is closed. The station has bench seating, which is helpful if you are waiting for someone, it also has toilets which you need to pay 20p to used them, their not to bad and the cleaners regularly clean them. On the platform, there are a few flower beds, (that actually won a prize for that in the past.) Their is also bench seating on either side of the platforms, with shelter in case of snow or rain, and also seating further down the the platform. Piccadilly line runs to central London and on the other side of the platform towards Uxbridge, you can change for the Metropolitan line via Rayner's lane. Customer service is good depending on who you get, Ive had the main gate open for me when I needed to get my bike through, plus the staff were really helpful advising me how to get my money back, when the snow was falling and no trains were running. Outside the station, they are a lot of eateries as well. Sudbury Hill Station is no magnificent station, just a humble sweet one which served its purpose.

The layout is not great as the only way to cross the tracks so if there is a train coming and you are on the wrong platform you had better hope it is not yours as you will have to watch the train pull into the station and stand a tht ecrossing gates like a muppet watching the train pull off without you! However, it is a very small village station, so i suppose this cant be helped. If you're hungry and do miss your train there is an Indian restaurant right next to the station, and a pub is within sight.

In the past I have always had good experiences with Goldstar, but they have introduced a new…read morepre-pay system which they do not understand. In concequence they cancelled my taxi at the last minute risking me missing an international flight, even though my bank statment says their system took a payment and then later returned it. My advice is to avoid untill they sort out their IT system.

We have always been very happy with Goldstar in the past however not so pleased this last time as…read morehave had to use them a few times recently. We booked a taxi for 9am to take us to the railway station allowing us time to be comfortable before our train was due to leave as we usually buy a hot drink to take on the train but also allow time for toilet visits due to medical issues. However, the last time our taxi hadn't turned up by 9am so waited another 5 mins then rang them to be told it was on its way so waited a further 10 mins still not turned up so rang again at 9:15 to be told it was on its way which it was by then but we had been told that at last call and we found out it was only just dropping off a previous customer, it turned up at 9:18 am. The lady on the phone was quite rude and insisted it would be coming and asked what time our train was and said we would still have time to get there, which I didnt think was appropriate and not the issue as although we didn't miss the train it didn't give us time to do what we would normally have to do. Also we allow extra time for traffic conditions as can be a very busy time of the day which they don't seem to consider either.
