My sister and I went in to talk to the bank about our mother's unexpected passing. Our mother has banked at this bank for over 15 years, so we figured they might be kind and helpful. We waited over 45 minutes to talk to the only person at the bank that could apparently help us. When we finally got to speak with the representative, she was rude and condescending. She wouldn't let my sister or me get out a complete sentence before she was interrupting us. She just kept telling us we need a death certificate, we said we know but she has bills due now, can you just look and see if we are on the account because we have power of attorney. She said that doesn't matter, I need a death certificate. She looks up the account on her computer and says, "yes, I see she's deceased". We said, "how do you know that?" She said, "the funeral home contacts social security and social security contacts us." So we said, "so, now that you know she is deceased, how can you help us?" She says, "I can't, I told you I need a death certificate!" Oh my Gosh!!!! Our original plan was to leave the money in this account while we settle her estate. Now, I can guarantee you, when we can get into our mothers account, we will be removing her money from this bank. They will never have any of our families' business again. read more
