    Always something new to try!

After living in Jax for 10+ years, date night with my hubs was losing some of its adventure! We love the beaches but sometimes you want more than dinner & a movie, right? This place was just the thing we were looking for! At $17 per ticket on a Friday night + a few bucks for beer/wine/etc., you're not gonna find a better deal for live entertainment that will make you laugh. There is a whole crew that makes it happen and they seem to be having a great time, too. Can't wait to go back!

We had the best time. We have been before and will go again and again! We love it! We laughed all night and appreciate the affordability of tickets. Our favorites

Hey Yelp Family!! You should come down to see me and the talented improv artists on June 20th give a great bit of revealing comedy to soothe your souls!

Went here for a birthday and I died (but got reincarnated to write this review) laughing at their Blue Show. I missed watching comedy shows, and improv in particular, so when I saw that there was something that does just that so close to me, I couldn't pass up on the offer-- okay that and also celebrating a good friend's birthday. Anyway, the comedy during the adult show-- there's also a family friendly option earlier-- is both dark and twisted. Anything really goes at that comedy show and I would gladly spend another two hours with that troupe. The players were hilarious and probably my fave bit was Mom's Spaghetti. Don't know what that segment or game is? You'll have to head over to First Coast Comedy Show to see what that's about.

Such a fun night. Great improve group kept us laughing the whole time. I was even brave enough to volunteer for one of the skits and had a blast. My cheeks hurt from laughing so much. Definitely recommend for a fun night out with friends and loved ones.

Last night a group of friends and I decided to check out a new(er) entertainment venue in the Beaches/Mayport area. I haven't done something like this in YEARS, so it was nice to break out of my normal routine and do something different! First Coast Comedy has been open for about 2 months. They have an early family-friendly show at 7:30PM and a late night show at 10PM (uncensored called The Blue Show). We went to the late night show and it was great! It's structured in two parts, with an intermission in between. The whole show is improv oriented, which takes some serious skill and was so fun to watch! The area is small and intimate, seats probably 40-50 people total in the whole place. The tables are set up with two seats each, so plan your seating/groups accordingly. There's a nice size bar and they offer a wide variety of spirits. The shows are meant to be interactive and involve the audience which makes it very fun! The comedians/guests really feed off each other's energy so the more the audience participates, the better! First Coast Comedy has great potential! I really enjoyed my night and the show. It was so nice doing something different and knowing we have this form of entertainment as an option so close. I highly recommend grabbing some tickets and checking out one of the shows!

As to the rest of the experience? Well, if your GPS takes you to a Ramada Inn, you are indeed in the right place. The comedy club entrance is in the lobby, as are the will call desk and the bathrooms. The inside of the Comedy Zone looks like someone sealed it up as a time capsule back in the '80s, then opened the doors back up one day and just rolled with it. It's dark, and a lot of things in the club are a bit...sticky. My big frustration was the seating situation. I (somewhat) jokingly told my husband when we sat down at our table (a table of six that had other parties, too) that I'd just assume we'd be meeting our maker if a fire were to break out because there is no easy way to move around. The tables -- a mishmash of rectangular and circular ones -- and chairs are just way too close together; I even saw servers having to awkwardly climb through, which I can't imagine is fun with (or without) a tray of drinks. And look, I don't expect things to be roomy at a comedy club, but the seating at our (rectangular) table was so smushed together that the three chairs on each side -- lined up sideways so as to face the sage -- had to be placed so that they were literally touching each other. This may work in a situation in which no one at the table has a lower body, but as someone who not only has legs but who is 5'9" with a 6'2" partner, we would have stared longingly at the relative spaciousness of a sardine tin. The tables are too close from a side-by-side standpoint, too; if you weren't the back, you weren't getting up unless the folks on one side of the table next to you were getting up, too. There were other tables -- especially outside of the "inner circle" -- that seemed more spacious, so I'd probably try that next time. We didn't have any food, but our drinks were decent, and I appreciated that they had a couple mocktail options as someone who wasn't aiming to get too rowdy on a weeknight. I'll make a note here that while we didn't have the issue with the drinks we got at the table, we felt a bit hoodwinked at the lobby bar when we were asked to pay on a smartphone where the default tip options were set to 25 percent, 30 percent, or 100 -- yes, 100 -- percent. I caught it, but I can only imagine how many folks who are drunk or just distracted end up leaving a $50 tip on a $50 bill and later wonder what the heck happened. I don't know how it is for other nights, but parking was a bit challenging for our show -- the second of a two-show night, which I'm sure contributed. If you're seeing a show that has multiple performances in one night -- or perhaps even a single one that's sold out -- get there early and plan for the potential of having to walk around the perimeter of the hotel to get to the main entrance, as the side ones were all closed. One last positive: you don't have to deal with the major ticket schemers -- I mean sellers -- when you come here, which is enough for me to round this review up to a 4. Even though I wish a few things were different (like my odds of a fast egress in an emergency), I'll keep coming to shows here.

I arrived shortly after the doors opened and, since the show wasn't sold out, I was offered a closer seat to the stage which was a nice surprise. I ordered a shrimp basket and a drink before the show started. My drink came out quickly, and my food followed shortly. The show kicked off a little after 7, starting with the host and another comedian before Gigi hit the stage. Everyone brought great energy, and the crowd was fully engaged. It honestly felt like a big family reunion, lots of shared stories and laughs about growing up that connected with most of the audience. I always have a great time at The Comedy Zone, and I'm glad I got the chance to catch Gigi live. Definitely a fun way to spend a Sunday night.

Having watched comedy shows from New York to Vegas, I've seen a wide variety of comedians. Even Andrew Dice Clay, who built his representation on being controversial, didn't venture into the cringe-worthy territory that the headliner did with a sexual innuendo joke involving his daughter. The show was worthy of 2 stars but shame on ownership for the misleading pictures and allowing performers to artificially boost ratings by writing reviews. Hence the 1 star rating. With a dearth of quality comedy options downtown, a quality product would speak for itself through word of mouth. Or at least actual audience members would feel compelled to speak up about their enjoyable experience.

I laugh and love most taboo jokes so this was not the issue. In general, I am a huge comedy lover, and truly I am all about saying what everyone wants to say but won't; and enjoy humor that tests some boundaries. The most upsetting part to me was this: when he was funny he was hilarious! But then, he would try sooo hard to push the limits with sexual jokes about babies, children, etc... and for me, that's the limit. The vibe was also, "here's what I have to say and if anyone heckles, or walks out, or has anything to say back, then you're in the wrong". The one lady that left, did so during his jokes about infants, and he commented on her looks... if looks are the only thing you can insult, then you know you're in the wrong. I had high hopes, truly! I even was seriously considering purchasing the acting class and potentially the improv class package, but held off to feel the vibe. Sadly, I felt used after that show, and am in no way interested in pursuing their classes. The only way improvements in business and the only way performers improve is by honest critique; so here it is :). I am hopeful that this feedback is helpful, as we all have room to grow. In the future, please don't charge audience members 25 dollars for a shortened show (ended at 8 instead of 8:30) where you test jokes that aim for shock value rather than laughs. Your audience members come to these shows to escape, not to feel burdened by imagery that is so disturbing, already among a disturbing world. In a culture where everyone is trying to outdo everyone else, the opposite authentic approach proves to be more engaging and entertaining.
