Vera was amazing. She obviously knows what she is doing and what her clients want. Best haircut I've had in years. Thanks!

Cut my hair too short despite telling them twice that I didn't want it short and that I was growing my hair. That said, they argue with the client instead of acknowledging the problem or at least leaving it. There was some odor in the place when I entered which wasn't pleasant. For the price, the service and atmosphere didn't seem so professional. I don't recommend. read more

Worst barbershop I've ever been to. Asked for a skin fade with a fringe on top. They cut all my hair off. Asked for my beard to be lined up, they got ready to cut off my whole beard then when I said just a line up not everything off they ask what I want lined up.. they put a hot towel over my face that I didn't ask for and charged me 20$ for a hot towel to be put on . They don't line the beard at all completely ruined my haircut and I tipped them 20$ because I didn't check my hair fully because I was on my lunch break 80$ total for the worst haircut of my life if I had taken time to check the work they did I would have walked out. read more

Always quick, professional and a great cut. Located a quick walk from Grand Central. See Nick

I've been coming to this place for many years and everybody here is very friendly. They always do a good job with my hair and I always feel right at home coming to this location. I will continue to come here and I've recommended this to several of my friends. I originally found this place because my wife found it a few years ago and it has been a great experience ever since. Thank you for the excellent job. read more

Great barber. First class. Very skillful scissors over comb. I've been coming here for 5 years and I love the atmosphere. Easy to communicate with barber. read more

On my way to Central Park from work, I needed to get my head shaved and I wanted an old skool style barber shop that would do it at a fair price. I was lucky enough to run across First Class Barber Shop which fulfilled both requirements. Located on the second floor of a smaller building in the area, First Class seated me right away. Their prices were quite reasonable, with a straight razor shave going for $20. Many shops don't even do this type of shave anymore, so to find a place that did it without being given nasty looks or grumbling was refreshing. They did a fantastic job and followed up the shave with hot towels and lotion (as it should be). I was very happy with the service and will gladly go back again! read more

Great place to get a haircut in midtown. Consistently good cut, affordable, and quick.

Great place. Been coming to Nick for years. Excellent experience w good music and his team of barbers. Would recommend it highly!!! read more

Very nice guys. Want to like them but unfortunately had a bad cut the first time and gave them a second try to find the same disappointment. Sideburns are entirely gone on one side and left on the other. One side is cleaned up around the ears and the other is not. The cut is generally uneven (and I have the most simple of cuts.) Also started rushing when another customer walked in and didn't clean up the back. 50 bucks gone. read more

Came back post covid for the first time today , and Nick is there and as talented as ever ...... in, out , and on my way in under 30 minutes . Always professional , attentive , and customer focused. read more

Got a haircut here today. When i went to pay the barber asked how much i want to leave for tip. I told him. He asked again and then manually added a tip that was $1 more than i approved. FRAUD. Plain and simple. I was in shock so i didn't say anything at the time but never coming back again. Did a shitty job too read more

Absolutely horrible place for haircuts! As soon as I entered I showed the hairdresser a picture of mine for reference and asked him if you could give me a similar haircut and he said yes! I asked him not to cut the top too short and he cut it too short! And the final haircut was not at all similar to the picture I showed him! It felt like he just wanted to get done with it and go home! AVOID THIS PLACE! read more

Quick, professional, and average price. What more could you ask for? The content on the TV is also both entertaining and interesting

Great place, quick easy and reasonable prices. Nick gives great haircuts. Best barber in area.

I love this place and my barber is an absolute gem! Always fast, efficient and courteous.

Dude messed up my hair and now I think I have to shave it all off. He made me look like a child cut my hair and still made me pay for it and tip him. read more

The best fade/experience in the city - S/o to Nick for the consistently great work!!!

More like 2.5 stars. Got in fast - no wait. Nik was friendly. Didn't use the setting I asked for around the edges (2 instead of 1). No razor finish around the edges or my neck. Was an ok haircut - in and out in about 15 minutes. But $30 plus tip is way too high for that cut. My girl could have done the same for free and she has never cut hair. Next. read more

Edit: In reply to the owner, I am 100% sure this is the place. Red pool table and all. I was just there. This was the worst haircut I've had in years. It's not a terrible cut overall because most of the bad cuts I've had were sloppy or uneven, but this was not at all what I asked for and not at all what I like. I have a very easy cut so I don't mind going anywhere. I get about a half inch off the top with a three on the sides with a taper. It is almost always a good cut anywhere. I was out of town and wanted a cut. This place had rave reviews and was near my hotel so I figured I'd go. First, he did a bad taper. Most tapers take like 3-4 different length clippers. He used 2. It barely had any taper at all and was long at the bottom. Then, he cut my hair too short. I told him a half inch and even showed how much I wanted off. He started cutting about 1/4 of an inch off. I said I wanted a little more and he said he was coming back over it and does this first. Ive never had someone do that, but what do I know about methods for cutting hair? Then he took like another half inch off when he came back over it. It didn't look bad, but was just a little too short. However now, the sides looked even worse. It was already too long over the ears, but with shorter hair on top, it looked bad. I asked for a little more off the bottom. He said "it's a 4 here" pointing to the top of the sides. I told him that part is fine and that I only wanted the bottom a little shorter with more of a taper. I was pointing to the areas of my head so there was no confusion. He said he got it then started taking more off the bottom with the shorter clippers but was going a little high. Then he took a longer clipper out and went the rest of way up the sides! I literally just said the top of the sides was fine, but now he is went shorter all the way up. It was too late to do anything so I let him finish. He never used any more clippers so it was still a two clipper taper, aka no taper. Plus now instead of taking the clippers just up the sides he went all the way to my part. I hate that look. Now that it was super short, I asked him to run the clippers over my beard since it looked silly at its length. I said I didn't need it shaped or styled. Just shorter. He did it and charged me an extra $10 for a beard trim. This wouldn't be that big of a deal if not for the rest. Technically I did get a beard trim. But dude, that $10 is for the shaping part of a beard trim not the cut. It took 30 seconds to run the clippers over my face. I know I should've stopped trying after he cut it too short, but I assumed he would listen. He didn't and now I'm furious. Do not go here. read more

First Class Barber Shop - Barbers Near Me - New York, New York

Came by on a weekend, there was only one guy working in the chair on the right (chair is by itself opposite the row of chairs on the left). Probably one of the worst cuts I've gotten in the city. Everyone gets a bit nervous when they try a new barber, but I was uneasy the entire time I was in the chair. The barber's movements were very erratic and I never once felt I was in good hands. I gave clear (and simple directions). His attention to detail wasn't good, and he even cut over my hard part and made a new one in the wrong place (not where my hair usually parts). Afterwards, when I tried to point out some parts of my hair that weren't cut properly, he seemed impatient and upset, and even though he fixed some of it, I ended up just leaving cause it wasn't worth it anymore. From the other reviews here, I'm sure the rest of the barbers here are great. This review is just for the barber I had that weekend read more

I couldn't ask for a more perfect experience. I've been traveling from Philadelphia to come and see Nick because of his work. He is a master of his craft and I am always beyond satisfied with his cuts. He is professional, quick, and always making the experience perfect. I can't say enough about the experience. Anyone who comes here will not be disappointed. read more

I'm very picky when it comes to getting a haircut; even a buzz cut. When I first moved to the neighborhood I set out to find a solid local barber. In the past, I would have to travel far to go to my favorite shop. Lucky for me that was no longer the case. My friend recommended First Class Barbershop so I gave it a shot. The very first moment I stepped into the shop I was greeted with kindness. Nick was available so I sat in his chair and off we went. I used to get a fade, and to anyone who knows about fades, you can't just go anywhere. Nick was not only skillful and precise but he was kind. For 20 minutes we had small talk and got to know each other a bit but most importantly my hair was looking great. Just when I thought the haircut was over Nick brought out the hot towel. That plus a brief head massage had me feeling refreshed. I've been a customer for two years and since I've gotten into reading reviews I thought I should write one. First Class barbershop is clean, comfortable, in a great location and priced really well. They have a friendly talented staff and for that reason I highly recommend this place. read more

Last week, I had a lil bit of a hair emergency. I found this shop on yelp, called and they told me to come in right now. A few minutes later, I walked and was greeted by Sam. He was pleasant and had great conversation. He cleaned me up and I was out in less then 30 minutes. It was clean and reasonably priced for Midtown. I will definitely go back. read more

Went during lunch. Did not get anything near what I asked for. Hair all over the place. This guy was in a rush and did not take the time to make sure I was clean, was shaking and smelled like an ashtray. No straight razor. If you care about your haircut.. Don't go. If you don't know what a good hair cut is or you just don't care then this is your place. Really just a terrible cut. I should have walked out. So bad I went to my own barber who evened it out the best she could. Thank god my hair grows quick. Terrible terrible terrible uneven amateur haircut. TERRIBLE. Save spending the $15 there, buy a case of beer, drink the whole case with a friend and give them a pair of scissors and have them cut your hair. At least you'll both have a good time and you may wind up with a better haircut. read more

This men's barber shop did a great, quick fast and cheap job. After my normal barber shop on 2nd ave closed down, I needed to find a new one, and I was not disappointed. It's not a high-end shop, but it gets the job done and is a good price. To give you an idea... Shampoo and cut is listed at $16. Hot towel face/razor shave is $15. Not bad... read more

Tip: If you're close and looking for a fast cut this is a good option. Fade was $18 and I gave a $5 tip. Less than 25 minutes and $23 dollars. I work around the corner on 5th ave and I was walking to a barber up the road that I had been to once before. I passed this place and saw someone was getting ready to pay so I assumed it might be faster to stop in here. The first thing I do is look at the people leaving the shop who just go their cut. His looked alright so I left safe. The barber shop is clean and open. There were 4 barbers cutting on the Thursday 12pm that I went. I got right into a chair and the barber started cutting. He told me what I wanted done pretty much haha..but he was right on with what I had in mind. I had to ask him to trim my bangs after he had finished but that was no problem. I was in and out in 20 minutes. I will likely go back here if I need a quick cut on my lunch hour. read more
