When the entire waiting room is complaining, and every last person leaving their visit is aggravated about the service they recieved that should have been a red flag. Wait times are atrociously long. Simple visits are somehow made complicate. Dont waste your time with an office that has zero empathy & lacks basic medical supplies. They couldn't do basic in house tests so they sent out to a lab creating another copay. Nothing good to say about this office. The lack of common sense for people with a medical degree is astounding. Stuck in the dark ages nothing is electroni, still hand writing on paper pads scratching out dates and the old facility name with marker that rubs off. Appointment confirmation calls prior to the appointment that threaten you with fees if you cancel or don't show up for your appointment. They try and push patients to have testing done in house rather than using the places of their choosing. High turnover of staff and poor business practices Rather than being concerned with quality patient care they solicit you to give high praise and reviews. Believe all the bad reviews. The woman at the front desk was unbelievably rude. I should've known it wasn't the office for me when they called a different patient up to pay an outstanding balance and she was ready to go with her credit card statement showing all her payments and said that she'd been dealing with the billing department for months. It feels impossible to find a good doctor anymore, and unfortunately, the front desk staff make a huge difference in the experience. Not sure if it was a good doctor anyway - I came in for a physical and they changed it to a new patient appointment instead. Transparency can improve. You go in for a well check for a physical and months later you get a bill for $200 for all add-ons for things they feel they need to get paid for so if you go in there if they start asking questions do not answer them because they're gonna charge you $50 extra just because they had asked a question ridiculous you get another bill a couple of months later and the bills even higher for additional charges that you didn't get initially then they're sending you bills with add-on fees 6-9 months later that shouldn't be allowed you should get a bill upfront and that one bill should be it. It's like they don't like the reimbursements that they're getting from the insurance companies so then they determine how much money they feel they should get and just keep sending you updated bills with the new fees attached. Stars for them lol they don't even deserve this one. . Let's start with their front end staff, they are extremely rude. First off the wait time is ridiculous and as your waiting to be called you hear the staff talking about other patients issues. SERIOUSLY...how unprofessional is that !! Then you ask a question and they are nasty, like your bothering them. Also they refuse to give you copies of your blood work, chart. I tried for days to get copies and they just kept playing games , saying they were closed when I was on the phone with them, They don't close until 5 and I was by there building 10 minutes before 5 and they lock their doors. This was my primary care doctor for over a year and half, every single appointment I had I would be required to wait for a minimum of a hour before they even saw me, and even then the doctor I had made an appointment with would not be there and they would just send in any old provider despite me making an appointment with a specific provider and asking for that provider both on the phone and in person while there. The straw that broke the camel's back however, was when one of the nurses, when asking me about my lifestyle started to judge me and shame me for my choices, completely unprofessional and incredibly uncomfortable. read more

For starters, you sit in an overcrowded waiting room for well over an hour, closer to 2 (with an appointment). They are not that friendly because they're so busy and understaffed. Once you finally get your PPD done, THEY REFUSE TO PROVIDE YOU WITH YOUR OWN PERSONAL HEALTH RECORD. With that said, you only require a PPD on a yearly basis. It's important to have your own copy. So to exercise your RIGHT TO YOUR OWN MEDICAL RECORD, you have to file a complaint with the U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services for Civil Rights. With that said, it's more convenient to go to a healthcare facility that abides by the law. I'm curious as to what else they don't do according the the laws we are governed by. read more

I'm not sure I agree this place deserves one or two stars like some of the previous reviews... all I can say is I accompanied my daughter here recently. We thought she had strep throat and her regular doctor was too over-booked to get her in quickly, so we decided to try this place as a walk-in. Let's start by being reasonable about expectations... it's a walk-in clinic which means if you don't make an appointment you're going to wait a while. We went in expecting that. The wait was a little over an hour. At least once they called my daughter in, there wasn't more crazy waiting in the exam room, it went rather quickly from there. They're set up almost like an ER ... when you're called in they start with a triag nurse for the basics. From there, off to an exam room. The nurse took swabs for strep and flu and we then waited a short time... That's when a Physicians Assistant came in to do the rest. She checked my daughter over, answered questions and prescribed an antibiotic, which they called in to the pharmacy for us. Overall it wasn't a bad experience. They were busy. We had to wait (as I said, expected). Everyone was pleasant enough. The place was mostly clean, just cluttered (like they could have used a bigger office space). They served the purpose for my daughter... she got seen by a medical professional the day she needed to be seen, and prescribed medication to treat her illness, and they took her insurance. It wasn't some high-end, top notch facility, but it was fine enough for our purposes in a pinch. read more

Never and I mean never gets paperwork of any kind right. PAs are good but Dr Goldman has become disgruntled and money-centric. Your health is secondary at best. Got there an hour before they opened and waited on line in the freezing cold while i was sick, they opened late because they needed to test the staff first. I was there for about 5 hours in total, the staff was very nice but if you want to be seen you have to get there extra early and bundle up. Its not their fault, all these walk in clinics are overwhelmed. They are overwhelmed because our government is to incompetent to be better prepared for another covid surge that we knew was coming. No at home tests, over run clinics, no drive through test sites, nothing! Its like we live in a third world country, It's disgusting. Horrible way to treat patients. Starting from Lawrence Goldman the so called dr. I called to ask a simple question regarding the covid vaccine. the medical assistant told me they will get back to me. Now I had my covid appointment scheduled for the next day and having experienced with this practice that well get back to you can take weeks. I asked the medical assistant to place me on hold and please ask the dr what I had asked her. Next thing I know Lawrence Goldman comes on the phone and says sarcastically I'm sorry you had to wait the whole day for me to answer your question. Maybe whats urgent to me dsnt seem so to him that is fine but don't come on sarcastic with me when I'm a patient.who if it wasn't for patients you would Not make a dollar. You charge my insurance enough as well as my out of pocket for me having to deal with a lack of empathy sarcastic so called dr? Then when I question his sarcasm. He says don't yell at my staff. Seriously ? Yelling at a staff is asking her to place me on hold so she can ask you and get back to me. Disgusting. Wont be going here ever again. This place has some issues.. Waiting in a lobby for about 3 hours isn't fun. I got to watch people give up & leave others come in and complain about how much they were being charged.. I'm not sure what was the reason things moved so so slowly there.. Once I got in the staff was nice & it moved pretty fast.. But the wait time & the front desk will stick with me and it's a place I would avoid for as long as I can and everyone else should also.. This doctors office has proven to be the WORST office in the area. Both my girlfriend and I went to the same doctor with the same thing and he tells her to not take the antibiotics he prescribed her because he believes the yellow mucous is VIRAL which you don't have to be a doctor to know that yellow mucous means BACTERIAL. These "doctors" must've graduated with below c average. Horrible service in the waiting room. The receptionist was sick coughing in her hands and handing out paperwork. Had to be asked to put a mask on by numerous people waiting in the waiting room. I've come here my whole life and I will never return after this last time. read more

I went here because I didn't have insurance in the state of NY and so I was paying cash, they charged me the initial appointment price and failed to tell me that there would be additional charges incurred. They did not disclose any of the prices for the tests that they were running nor did they tell me that I would have to pay more. I have been a patient of First choice since they first opened, very many years. Every year, during my annual physical with them, they give me a prescription to have blood work done at a lab. They "forgot" to put the codes on the prescription. I went back to First Choice to have the codes put on the prescription, only to be told that I had to make an appointment with them. My plan will only pay for one physical a year. First choice didn't care, the doctor only cares about the dollar. Time to find another doctor, one that really cares about their patients. read more

This office has a big sign saying WALK-IN, so when I needed my COVID vaccine shots, I did walk-in because they told me on the phone I did not need an appointment. It took a total of almost two hours just to get a single shot. My other experience was even worse. I came in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID and had symptoms myself so I called First Choice to ask if I needed an appointment for a COVID test. I was told I can come in whenever I wanted, so I came in the afternoon and went to the separate section in the back of the building. I was then told I needed an appointment or to go to the front if I had symptoms which sounded dangerous to go to a waiting room full of patients. I went to the window and was told they were at capacity and could not see me. I was furious when they told me to come back the next day. I asked if I would definitely be seen or be told the same thing and they said you'll be seen as long as we're not at capacity. I responded, you are a walk-in, correct? They said they are NOT a walk-in so I suggested they take down the sign outside the front of the building that says WALK-IN. read more

***Please note that I have filed a Grievance Report and also a Misconduct Complaint with the New York State Department of health for misconduct and negligence!*** I recently switched providers after my doctor, Dr. Shaeffer, who left without notice at Lawrence Goldman, MDs practice First Choice Medical.  I established my first patient visit with Dr. Brian K. Mcnulty (my current provider) in Center Moriches on December 6, 2017.  During my first patient appointment Dr. Mcnulty provided a form for consent to have my medical records released to their medical practice from First Choice Medical.  On December 11, 2017 I received a bill from First Choice Medical stating I owed them $21.75 for "medical records copy per page", along with procedure code S9982 dated for 12/08/2017.  Upon reviewing the bill I also noticed that my Social Security number is not correct under my name, but my husband/sponsors is corrects.  I called the office on the evening December 11, 2017 and left a message with the receptionist requesting to speak either with the Billing Manager or the Practice Manager. I did not receive a return phone call.  I called December 18, 2017 and requested to speak with the Practice Manager.  I was informed that she was not available and Tasha transferred me to Pam, who worked in billing.  I explained to her that First Choice Medical should not be billing patients, along with active duty military families, for Patient's Records being transferred between medical practices. I also expressed my concerns that their office has lost my medical records three times while being a patient there, which contained all my medical records from VA, MI, and AK.  I also brought it to Pam's attention that my Social Security number was incorrect, and I was concerned with how their office is strictly "paper only" and that they have not switched over their medical charts to digital files. Pam did not seem concerned that my Social Security was wrong, even after asking her to review my first initial Patient Form that I filled out back in 2015.  She said she did not need to see it because she had the most current one from 2017.  I then asked to look at the original Patient Form in 2015 and she refused to oblige me, for I am sure she did not have it because my medical file has been lost more than twice.  She then transfered me to Amanda.  I explained the same things to Amanda about the charges and the wrong Social Security number.  She seemed to have a condescending attitude and said the charges are for each page, which is 75 cents per page.  I know for a fact that I have more than 20 pages of medical reports, due to the ER visits, CBCs, periodic Thyroid Panels, Ultrasounds, CTs/Rads, multiply Urine Analysis, along with previous medical records transferred from previous doctors office located in East Quogue, NY.  I asked Amanda for the Practice Managers name and phone number where she may reached at.  She informed me that the Practice Managers name is Lisa, and her phone number is 631-585-5858.  I called and left a voice mail for Lisa requesting her to please call me back in reference to the dispute of the bill and the Social Security number. Later on that day, December 18th, I received a phone call from Katrina.  Katrina stated she worked in billing and informed me that in order for my new provider to receive my medical records I would have to pay.  I then reiterated what she said, and concluded that they have not sent the records to my current provider.  I asked to speak with the Practice Manager and Katrina stated she left the office and the message was forwarded to her.  I told her to leave another message with the Practice Manager to call me back ASAP.  I hung up with Amanda and called the Practice Managers number and left a message requesting her to please call me ASAP regarding the billing and the Social Security number. My concerns are this: 1. The charges with medical records for transfer.  I have never had to pay for my medical records to be transferred to another medical practice.  2. The fact the my Social Security number is wrong and the office does not express any concern.  I would think this could be a HIPPA violation, along with misconduct and negligence on their part.  3.  The prior history of the First Choice office misplacing/losing my medical chart more than once and having to recreate a new chart, which I witnessed them creating a new chart while in one of the medical rooms.  I know I have more than 20 pages of medical information from that office, and they are denying it.  4. That they have not converted to digital/electronic medical chart. read more

I can't say enough about First Choice Medical! I've been a patient of their Practice for 4 years, and have recommended many, many friends and family who have always been very happy with their positive experience as well. I'm always taken within 5-10 minutes of my appointment time, shown into an exam room where I'm met by the MA/PA/ or the Primary Care Doctor himself, Dr. Goldman. In reading some of these negative reviews, I have to say that my experience has been quite different. There has never been an issue with either my paperwork (I'll admit, there IS a lot), my waiting room experience, or the cleanliness of the bathroom or exam room. The staff have never been less than professional and courteous, always answering my (many) questions thoroughly and patiently. They do the blood work on the premises, and depending on what the blood draws are for, sometimes I get the results while I'm still in the exam room. They used to do x-rays in-house, but have stopped doing that, which may be my one negative. Kudos to Dr. Goldman and his kind and courteous staff. read more

I cannot believe their operation. I am looking for a new provider and came across Dr. Goldman in Holbrook-First Choice Medical. I made an appointment for the following week. Spoke to someone in their office who was very nice and helped me to confirm it. She set me up to see Dr. Goldman for the following week at 11:15. Today, the day before my appointment I receive notification on my phone to confirm my appointment with the PA instead of Dr for 10:30 for tomorrow. First of all, I did not make the appointment to see a PA and how do you just change my appointment to 45 minutes earlier and think its ok for me to go at that time! I called them this morning to see what is going on & spoke to Guillermo who kept hesitating in the conversation and said a new patient has to see the pa at the first appointment. He never even explained how they could just change the time of my appointment. I explained to him that none of this was explained to me on making my appointment. I kept asking for a supervisor and he kept putting me on hold and would continue to mumble and not make sense. He seemed as though he had no idea what was going on. After asking several times for a supervisor, I get to speak to her. There was no apology or help or concern or at the very least a friendly attitude. Again, no explanation as to changing my appointment for an earlier time and just changing it to see the pa and all without my knowledge. I was so put off by all of this that I decided to pass on this office and look elsewhere. The big fact that they could not even express an apology or understanding that they made a simple process so confusing and unfriendly made me want find a difference medical provider. read more

I wanted to see Dr Goldman, so I had to make an appointment which was understandable. The new electronic system is tricky but the front desk walked me through the paperwork (there was a lot but I hadn't been seen in 2 years). I only waited 10 minutes before they took me. Dr Goldman didn't rush me out of the room and made sure he understood why I needed each medication and told me to schedule an echocardiogram, which they do on site Tuesday's and on weekends! I came to First Choice for my DOT physical. I've been driving a commercial vehicle for the last 20 years and finding a place to get recertification is hard. I called ahead to make sure there was a certified dr there and the receptionist told me there was a certified dr there every day of the week and they had all the forms necessary. I waited about 45 minutes before they called me back to start the testing. They needed a urine sample for the test and their bathroom was very clean. A male PA came into the room to finish my exam and when it was done, I was given my certification. It was quick and painless and I will be going back in 2 years when my certification is expired again! read more

After a recent car accident, First Choice Medical contacted me to set up a follow up appointment. They were very aware I would be seen under no-fault insurance. When I arrived for my appointment, I filled out paperwork and continued to wait in the waiting room for over an hour. They brought me back to an exam room, asked why I was in for an appointment. I explained they had called me to schedule an appointment to follow-up on my recent visit to the ER due to a motor vehicle accident. They then stated I had to go back out to the waiting room and fill out different paperwork and needed all of my no-fault information. I refused to wait any longer to see a physician and asked for my records as I will never go back for another visit. I do not understand why they wouldn't ask for insurance information when scheduling or when I originally arrived for my appointment. I understand you sometimes will need to wait to see a physician but the wait time is extremely long at this office. The office also makes you sign a document saying you will pay for canceled appointments. I am truly hoping they will not charge me a fee for walking out. Unorganized and Long Wait Times! read more

I would give the place zero stars if i could they miscoded my bill to the insurance company and it took forever to fix while being fix and i paid with my fsa card they reported it to collections. From the very moment I switched to them, there's a problem! They tried telling me they didn't take my insurance. Lol she was wrong and she ALWAYS has an attitude. Obviously I'm not the only one who feels this way and I switched doctors again. The doctor is rude and rushes me out. The PAs aren't bad and I actually I like them but not worth the aggravation. Visited FCM today and was happily impressed by service. They have established separate waiting rooms for those who are ill and those who are not. Chairs in office waiting room were taped off establishing social distances for those waiting to be seen. Wall mounted hand sanitizers were available in the waiting rooms as well as in back by examination rooms. There were a number of people there for appointments as well as walk ins, and it appeared everyone was being treated quickly and efficiently by very courteous staff members. I received service within five minutes of checking in and was seen immediately by my escort to the exam room. Before I left I was provided with access to the patient portal so I could retrieve some personal data once my tests are completed. Overall, a very successful visit to FCM. I really appreciate the personal attention of the staff and the logistical layout of the waiting room to ensure everyone's safety, Nicely done. read more

If I could give no stars I would, i hate this place! This is the worst doctors office I've ever been to. They leave you waiting at least an hour or more even when you have an appointment, taking walk-ins before. Nothing is computerized so they have no way of keeping records straight or tracking progress. I was told that I hadn't been to the office in over a year meanwhile I had been to the office just months prior. The office staff is incompetent and rude. I had to make an appointment to receive referrals (got to get that copay) because the referral department couldn't be bothered to call me back after trying to get ahold of them for three weeks! Go somewhere else! You won't be sorry you did. read more
