It's been a long time but when in employ of a company in El Segundo Dr. Sheikh, MD was my PCP. All of my experiences were of the upmost positive. I retired from the Company in 2012 & moved to Scottsdale, AZ but have often considered commuting via air to regain his professional consult. Personally I have found most of the medical practices in Arizona to be "wanting". They have a tendency to compare your medical condition with whatever is going around versus actually examining you and discover what is actually wrong with you We have yet to find a medical practice in Arizona that we are remotely satisfied. In conclusion you can't go wrong with Dr. Sheikh as your PCP If we return to our home State we will automatically seek his medical practice as our first act of business. My experience with Dr. Sheikh was excellent. I have never had a doctor that would take the time necessary to take a complete history and physical, explained every step along the way and arrive at a diagnosis which was then clearly explained. I had a problem over the weekend and he responded promptly after I called the answering service. He was quick to respond to requests for prescription refills and was able to get the required approvals for lab work and x-rays approved in a very timely way. So very disappointed. I was hoping to love this doctor, since I selected him as my PCP. Unfortunately, Dr. Firoz Sheik could not possibly care less about his patients. I came into the office on August 16, 2017. I explained that I am severely Anemic and my hemoglobin gas been low before and I feel very weak, heart palpitations, shortness of breath and dizziness. Since low hemoglobin can lead to a HEART ATTACK OR STROKE I came in to get tested and treated. He talked to me briefly, then asked me how long I have been smoking crack cocaine!!!!! I have NEVER DONE DRUGS IN MY LIFE. I AM A LAW SCHOOL GRADUATE AND FORMER FLIGHT ATTENDANT. I have no idea why he asked me that......I am only left to guess. He sent me to lab for blood work and I left. 3 WEEKS LATER I HAD TO CALL HIS OFFICE FOR RESULTS SINCE THEY NEVER CONTACTED ME. He called me the next day.... Normal hemoglobin is about 10 to 12 Blood transfusion is required at 7 MINE WAS 6.2 Well 3 WEEKS HAD ALREADY PASSED. So, by the time I checked myself into the emergency room yesterday, MY HEMOGLOBIN WAS 5.8 BY THEN. So, after 2 pints if blood, x rays etc....the ER Doctor at Marina Del Rey Hospital wanted to admit me but Doctor Sheik said No....transfer her to St. Vincent's downtown. I've never been to this hospital....not sure why I would have to go there. Well AFTER 10 HOURS OF WAITING, there were NO EMPTY BEDS DOWNTOWN (unsurprised). So, INSTEAD OF ADMIT ME INTO THE HOSPITAL THEN AND THERE IN MARINA DEL REY THEY HAD TO DISCHARGE ME.....wth??? Advised me to follow up with my PCP..... I was hoping to have a good experience when picking a new doctor. We were going to be new patients with Dr. Sheikh and will now WILL find someone else. I recently went to the emergency room and I was told to follow up with my primary Dr. in two to three days. I called the office and explained the situation to the receptionist and she said that the doctor couldn't see me until 3weeks from now. I begged the girl to ask the doctor because of the emergency status and she said unfortunately she couldn't do anything because they don't have the record. If it's a Cedars-Sinai doctor he should have the records, I told her AND She said if I'm a new patient there is nothing she could do. She was supper cold and without care. If I could leave a 0 star review I would. I've never experienced an office that operates like this. I've called 9 times over the past 3 days about an urgent medication that was about to run out and due to emergencies I couldn't pick up in LA, but no response whatsoever. All I needed was for dr sheikh to E script it over. Pharmacist told me it takes less than 5 min for him to do. Beyond that, when you do make an appt to see the doctor you are waiting in the waiting room for an hour EVERY TIME. Then by the time dr sheikh comes to see you he acts like you are just there to hang out and joke around. He pretty much dismissed everything you have to say because he's too busy pulling up funny pics on the work computer to show you. HIGHLY HIGHLY do not recommend. You CAN NOT count on dr sheikh or his office and you are better off spending a thousand dollars and just going to the emergency room. read more

I should have read these reviews before seeing Dr Sheikh today. After arriving at the office for a standard physical I was seen by a nurse fairly quickly. She took my weight, blood pressure, etc and then handed me a gown and said the doctor would be in shortly. After sitting there for almost an hour Dr Sheikh finally came in. He started asking me the same questions that I had already filled out on my sheet and then began asking me if I've ever smoked cigarettes (tried a handful of times when I was younger), how often I drink alcohol which is never (grew up with alcoholism in my family never interested me) and when I told him I've never drank he didn't believe me. Right after that he asked "when did you stop using cocaine?" Uh I've also never done drugs in my life which he also didn't seem to believe and said "really not even" and then made the motion of shooting up drugs in your arm. My jaw dropped and I said no I've never done heroin either. Other great words of wisdom were how I shouldn't text and drive because he has a son that needs to go to college and he needs me alive so I can use him as my doctor. Also how I should be tested for STDs since I'm married and how this is America and spouses cheat on each other. At the end of my appointment I felt like I just had been lectured for an hour by a stranger who gave me terrible advice. Never in my life have I dealt with a doctor who is so unprofessional. I have no clue how he still has a medical license. I will be finding a new physician ASAP! read more

They lost my urine sample! I went for my first appt with Dr. Sheik and only had one issue to discuss, concerning urination problems. He had me leave a urine sample. When i called back a couple weeks later and asked about the urine results, the nurse wasn't even sure what I was talking about and questioned if was sure that I had left the urine sample in that office. She didnt know anything about the sample, and had no records of the sample or any applicable lab results. She said the best thing would be to come in and leave another sample at my convenience. The problem was that I literally had to take the day off for my first appointment, which ended up taking 2-3 hours. I just don't have the time to do this again, especially for no legitimate reason. It is a shame because Dr Sheik seems like a very nice guy, but his staff and the facilities he works with are beyond amateurish. I would not feel comfortable coming back here, for any sort of testing, since they can't even get the basics right. read more

If I could give this doctor negative stars, my rating would be off the charts. Dr. Firoz Sheikh is the most unprofessional person in the medical field that I have ever encountered. At first I thought that he just had a goofy personality that he would use to try to relate to his patients, but I later found out that his "goofy personality" seriously crossed some lines. When a medical professional kids with you about having HIV, it's no longer funny. Luckily I do not have HIV, but Dr. Firoz Sheikh thought it would be funny to tell me that I did before he said that he was just joshin' around. I'm not kidding. Dr. Firoz Sheikh led me to believe that I was sick with a virus that could potentially take my life when I just had shingles. Even after he knew that I was not HIV positive, he told me that I was. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. I waited an hour to see him. He talked AT me for forty five minutes about how all Americans are fat and don't know how to eat. He told me all about how he is Indian, therefore knows how to eat better than me, because I'm American, and that he is Muslim which means he can control his urges and not want to "hump every pretty girl I see on the street." He was condescending, didn't listen to ANYTHING, and only wanted to hear himself talk. Then, after all that, he didn't take any blood tests or urine samples. He listened to my heart. That was it. Obviously Dr. Firoz Sheikh is a very polarizing individual. Just look at the reviews. If you are a person who can't take a joke, is big on boundaries, takes a lot of things personally...do not go to his office. If you're someone who wants a physician who cares about his patients, takes extra time to explain things to you, and has a great sense of humor, go to Dr. Sheikh's office. My experience with him has been positive. Dr. Sheikh is amazing and caring. Mike had his physical today and of course I had to hold his hand to get his butt to the doctors. I chose this doctor for Mike to go to, because he helped us find out 4 years ago what was wrong with Mike being so sick. Mike was diagnosed with Hairy cell leukemia, a rare disease. Anyway, today's visit was a thorough one with blood work and a complete physical. The doc is funny, cute, nice and caring. He spent s lot of time with Mike too. I was in the room the whole time. The doctor even called Mike to make sure he follows his regimen of seeing 5 more doctors. Urologist , vascular, dermatologist,cancer Etc. Well u know , I will have to do the calling and holding Mikes hand of course. That's what us girly's are good for I guess. Highly recommend Dr. Sheikh. I have been to a decent amount of doctors and this is my first time i had to post a review. Dr. Firoz is a rare doctor. Most doctors give diagnosis and send you on your way. Dr. Firoz is different by educating you on symptoms. His clarity on anatomy helped me understand multiple solutions to various illnesses over the past two years. My ankle sprain beach exercise he suggested cured it after multiple previous sprains in the last couple of years. He truly loves his job and helping others. MY STORY: I was picking up a prescription and i had a mole on my back that scared me a little. I had 4 moles removed a year ago therefore I'm prone to cancers moles. i asked the nurse if the doctor could just take 2 min and check this mole. He stopped eating lunch, looked over my moles and decided to educate me on what to look for in the future by drawing out diagrams of moles types on the white paper that covers the medical bed. He took 15 minutes out of his 30 minute lunch and didn't charge. He also told me to take a picture of my back once a year and put it on my computer to view moles irregularities. So easy and genius self diagnosis. He educates on various symptoms, suggest natural alternatives for health longevity. Best doctor i have been to. He tells you the truth which is a doctors fiduciary obligation to their patients. I have immense amount of respect for doctors being straight shooters. Sometimes we all want the easy way out but that is for short term failure where he acts in your long term healthy future. His nurses/front desk women are fantastic! STAY AWAY!!!!! He is NEGLIGENT, UNPROFESSIONAL, UNRESPONSIVE and UNRELIABLE. After my mom's thyroid gland got enlarged, she went to him not knowing what was going on, and you would think any medical professional would have enough practice, knowledge to suspect it is her thyroid due to its location, symptoms, family history and past medical history but this doctor did not even bother doing any kind of tests, instead he just gave her antibiotics and sent her off. After finishing the antibiotics my mom called him back 4 times, (he never answers his calls, his staff takes the messages and after 3,4 messages he might call you back in the evening) he finally decided to call her back with no advice but that it might be viral and that she should make an appointment with a ear nose and throat specialist. My mom at this point had an obvious lump on her throat, 103 Fever every day for 3 weeks, and lost 10 pounds and this guy couldn't give a damn. We finally decided to reach out to family members that were doctors who advised us to demand blood work and CT scan. This guy (I don't want to call him a Dr. because I don't think he is worthy of the title) did not even care enough to call and tell her the results of the CT scan, after waiting and calling him for 2 days straight, we finally went and picked up the CT scan and it turns out that there are significant enlargements in her thyroid. This guy did not call to tell us the results, neither did he advise us on what to do about it, or who to see next.. NOTHING!!!! Again we discussed the results with physicians we knew that told us what was going on that she needs to be treated ASAP in no more than 1 week and advised us to do other test, from which we found out she could possibly have a tumor! What did this negligent, uneducated, unprofessional do? NOTHING he did not even make an urgent request for her to get a biopsy, after several messages, he finally graced us with his response to wait for a specialist to determine if she needs a biopsy or not. THIS IS MADDENING ... I have never met any one as NEGLIGENT towards his patients before. read more

Finally almost got to see Dr Sheik last week after waiting almost a month for my appointment. I was waiting in the waiting room for over 2 hours past my scheduled appointment time. No updates from the staff, no news, nothing. Finally when I inquired about my wait time, they said it would be an additional hour. Dr. Sheikh is the best doctor I have ever been had - period. He is the most caring, kind doctor I have ever met in my life. He has NO ego, and all he does is care deeply for all of his patients. My parents and I all go to Dr Sheikh, and he is the only doctor I know who will call you back any time if you are having an emergency (or think you are having an emergency), will take time to talk to you about any medical problem no matter how minor, and will give you a thorough explanation of your condition. I completely disagree with the earlier reviewer. I don't think Dr. Sheikh is racist. He's blunt and honest. He cares about you and therefore he tells you how and what to eat. Simply wonderful! Kind, caring and thorough are a few words that describe Dr. Sheikh, my 84 yr. old mother's new doctor. I've searched for years to find a doctor that would treat my mother with dignity and respect. Mom has advanced Alzheimers and most Dr.'s I've taken her to have the attitude that she's "done" because she's lost her ability to communicate verbally even though she can understand what's going on around her sometimes. Dr. Sheikh attempted to communicate with her with no response then looked at her face and body language to try to get a non-verbal read on her...it sounds so logical but his behavior was groundbreaking. I think that Dr Sheikh is a great doctor. He always takes his time with me, and he if he tells me that I need to do something differently, he explains why. He is always trying to teach me. When I call and leave him a message, he is always good about calling me back. When I have had to call him on weekends or after hours, he never sounds irritated and has even told me to call him anytime. I'm glad to have Dr. Sheikh as my primary care physician. Since my initial visiting my experience was good, dr.sheikh sat down to talk about my concerns and my condition. Dr sheikh called Westchester Advanced Imaging on my behalf to request the physical copy of my MRI results via fax, he reviewed them and saw that my condition was serious. The doctor was hanging out in his office for an hour while my baby and I waited to be seen. Mind you, my son was stripped to just his diaper, as the assistant had called him in earlier to weigh him. I understand waiting, as I always wait at least an hour in the waiting room to see the doctor if he is busy with other patients. However, I refuse to wait while he tinkers around on his computer for an hour. What finally got him out, was not when I asked the assistant how much longer or will take, nor the cries of my baby who was long overdue for a nap, but a sales rep! Waste of time and Uber unprofessional! Made an appointment one month in advance, and made sure I checked with the receptionnist that my insurance covered the visit!!!! I arrange with my boss to go in later that day, have to plan things around Dr. sheikh's appointment and show up at the doctor's office at 915 on the appointment day to hear the secretary say, " you belong to a different doctor, so doctor Sheikh can't see you OR you have to pay out of pocket, I just checked that an hour ago"!!! Why did you confirm the insurance coverage with at first place? I find Dr. Sheikh to be kind considerate very professional he goes an extra mile to make sure you understand what he's trying to tell you. I'm a bit overweight he never tried to tell me what to eat except to eat sensibly and to walk 1/2 hour every day rain or shine.
