Recently, I noticed that my car had a rough idle, but when I would accelerate it was OK so I didn't think much about it since it is a 2015 Infiniti Q40 with 100,000 miles on it. But after a few days the service engine soon light came on. I asked my dad if he would look at it since he likes to tinker with things. He has one of those code readers. So he hooked it up & it spit out these numbers P0171 , P0300 & P0131. So he googled it and of course it mentions anything and everything from a fuel pump to a mass airflow sensor to a tuneup and even a bad oxygen sensor. When you start pricing these things up it's thousands of dollars. So My dad decided to contact the Infiniti dealer in Gwinnett. they wanted $200 just to diagnose it. Frustrated and scared of the situation I asked my friends & family on social media if they had any recommendations of a good honest shop in my area. most of them mentioned the new firestone location at the Publix shopping center in Oakwood. So dad and I decided to drive over there. We were greeted by young lady name, Sam. Dad told her what was going on with my car and she said that they would have to start with an engine diagnostic for $111. I decided to go forward with it because it was half price compared to the dealer and we didn't have to drive to Gwinnett County. Within 30 minutes she came back in the office to tell me the technician found a torn air intake boot, causing a vacuum leak, and the computer sensors were thrown off because of it. Sam quoted me $200 plus tax for everything. (Diagnostic, air intake boot & labor) we gave her the go ahead, and my car drives like it once did !!! no service engine soon light and a nice, smooth idle ! I took my 2010 Honda accord to the dealership in Gainesville to have My A/C checked out. The A/C will blow cold for 15 minutes and then go warm.  If I shut the car off and let it cool down it will start working again.   I know my cars 12 years old now but it only has 107,000 miles on it plus it's a Honda.   The service advisor at Honda told me it was going to need a new compressor and Freon. Parts & labor with tax was going to be $1578.00.    I was trying to understand why the compressor was bad when it actually works part of the time.  So I decided to take it to the Firestone in Oakwood where I get my oil changes done.  I was greeted by Chaz (nice guy)  and I told him what was going on.   He told me for $9.95 his A.S.E. Certified master technician would perform an evaluation.  Within 30 minutes Chaz told me I needed the updated A/C compressor relay for $49.  He explained that when the relay would get warm it would kick out the compressor.  I told him this sounds to good to be true but what the hell for $49 I was willing to try it! Son of a B***** it fixed it! How come a tire store can accurately fix my car but not the dealership??!!! I'm rolling with ICE COLD AIR CONDITIONING FOR UNDER $100 BILL.  THANK YOU Chaz & team ! "Not all shops are the same! " Recently I took my Durango Crew to my mechanic for a severe vibration (only when I'm accelerating ) I was told it was a bad driveshaft. $2,000 later I'm still having the same problem! Even my mechanic agreed it wasn't fixed. Of course he said he would gladly refund my money if only the driveshaft was returnable (isn't that convenient for him). With no other options , I bit the bullet and took it to the Dodge dealership. $200 diagnostic fee , only to be told I have a bad transmission. $5,000 estimate. This is crazy. Broken emotionally and financially at this point I reached out to my grandparents for help. They told me to drive it over to Firestone off Winder hwy and get another opinion. (Of course my grandparents have been going to Firestone since the 70's ) So I figured I'd do it their way since they are going to pay the bill. I spoke with Chazz. He was more than willing to help in anyway he could. I left and got a phone call from him a couple hours later. He told me one of two things. The vibration definitely was coming from the transmission but it could be from the fluid being bad so he recommended servicing it first before condemning it. So for $250 he did a transmission service. And wouldn't you just know it the vibrations are gone ! Praise the Lord!!! read more

My my my where do i begin?! I have a 07 Chrysler 300 that my dad bought new before giving it to me. Well one day the transmission started acting up and doing all kinds of weird Sh#t ! I was worried that I would mess something up so I had it towed to a local mechanic shop. They advised me that it's time for a transmission replacement. I asked my dad, his opinion, and he told me to take it to the dealership where he's had it serviced since day one (makes sense) and get a second opinion. So another $150 tow bill later (plus I paid a $200 diagnostic fee ) to be told I need a transmission replacement. ‍. $5,000 repair is just not doable for me. I tried calling around for a reasonable price before towing it anymore. I come across Firestone in Oakwood. Their pricing was much better but they still wanted to evaluate it to condemn the transmission. Since they had the best price for the repair, I decided to tow it over there and have them do it. Well I got a call back the next day to let me know my car was fixed. They replaced the NAG connector ( yes, I had to Google it too ) and did a transmission service all for $300. Had an AC problem in my 2004 Sprinter coming across the country. Hoping it might be something simple, a google search led me to the Firestone shop here in Oakwood. Scheduled an appt. and took the Sprinter in at 8:00 am. The AC Service Tech, Jimmy, far exceed my expectations as he had knowledge and experience with Sprinters, explained to me both the AC Equipment and the Diagnostics he would run. After correcting the AC condition, Jimmy went further to diagnose a related condition plaguing us for the last year. He found a failing cooling part, found the replacement part, and replaced the part (a most difficult operation on Sprinters). He then retested the whole AC system and showed me photos from the diagnostic machine of the Before, After AC correction, and After part replacement. The system is now totally working to the factory specification. All completed in one day! Fantastic! Thank You! Price was as expected given the new part was very expensive and the AC totally leak tested and recharged. For AC issues I highly recommend this location and would ask for Jimmy in a heartbeat! read more

My stepson's 2004 Ford F-150 had a battery light come on while driving. Being young, scared and in college he took it to the dealership to have it looked at for $100 fee. They told him he needed a new alternator for $769.00. He called me and asked if I'd pay for it. I told him to take it to the new Firestone in oakwood (down the street from our house) for a second opinion. I figured They would give us a better price on this repair. I spoke to Leighton @ the counter and he explained what we should do. For $19.95 they will perform a electrical system check on the battery, starter & alternator. He told us everything is good and working as designed. So I asked why is the battery light on the dashboard? He told us that it needed a "regulator pigtail" basically the electrical connector that plugs inside the alternator was bad. He replaced the pigtail for $110.00 AND FIXED MY KIDS TRUCK! It should be "0" stars, not "1" star. I went to the Firestone Complete Auto in Flowery Branch and my experience was terrible. First I get a snarky response from the store manager there (Dee Dee) for being 15 minutes late. All the bays were already full and they move my appointment from 9a bc they "double booked". Then, when they serviced my truck, the balance was completely messed up (violent steering wheel vibration). I had to go out of town to work but I had use my other car bc of the vibration. Then my right rear tire went flat. I took my truck to the Alpharetta store. They fixed the vibration (which was alignment issue- which Flowery Branch was suppose to do but did it incorrectly) and replaced my tire. I will no longer go to the Flowery Branch store and my family (Mom, brother) and friends will stop going there as well. read more

I want to shout out a special thank you to Deedee at the -Firestone in Oakwood I was having a surging issue in my 2017 Honda Pilot while driving 40-60mph. The Honda dealership said they couldn't look at it for weeks so I decided to look elsewhere. Deedee told me let's start with a Complete vehicle inspection 1st & go from there. Within two hours she called me to let me know we need to start with doing a transmission service with the new updated Honda fluid. I guess there is a common problem with these vehicles so Honda has an updated fluid with additives in it to correct these crazy issues. So for under $200 and a couple hours in a single day, she fixed my car. I'm really glad there are still honest, helpful people in the world read more
