Absolutely atrocious place to bring a vehicle. I called a week in advance to set an appointment. Set my service for noon and asked how likg it would take because I had other things to do also. They told me it would be in and out. 2 tires mounted and an alignment. My car was still sitting outside at 1:00, an hour after my set time, with all their technicians just walking around the garage doing nothing for that entire hour. When I asked why the car hasn't been brought into the garage yet, I was told it's next we have to wait until a technician is free. Even tho I could see for myself that all the techs were free and not working on anything. They had almost all bays open for vehicles. And then I'm told when they do bring it in it's going to be at least an hour and a half to point 2 tires and do an alignment. Needless to say I've never had service this poor in my life and I will never come back. read more

My car broke down on the turnpike and AAA roadside assistance towed it to Firestone in Charleston to get repaired. The place was pretty quiet when I dropped the car off Sunday evening before checking into a hotel. They called me in the morning and quoted me "a couple hours", so I asked what that meant... 2 hours? 3 hours? And the response I got was "yeah", which was frustrating being at a hotel and having to checkout before the repair was done. I did tell them my situation, and I felt they could have provided a little better customer service give the circumstances. It ended up taking close to five hours after they quoted me for the repair to get me back on the road around 3:30pm for a six hour drive to get home. read more

Our car broke down while traveling near Charleston (about 5 hours from home and about 4 hours from our destination), and I'd recently had some work done by the Firestone back in my city and thought that going here might streamline things. Boy was I wrong. They were able to squeeze me in on short notice (the only redeeming quality), but after an hour of waiting and $130 for a diagnostic test they basically said "we think it's a timing issue. We can't help you here. Go to a dealership." They didn't specify what the issue was or what code came up in the diagnostic or what part was needed. It was just "sorry, you're on your own." Not very helpful when you're hundreds of miles away from anyone you know and your car keeps turning off! Thank goodness we were able to get to AutoZone, where they did a FREE diagnostic and told us exactly what was wrong with the vehicle and what part would fix it. A local towing company/mechanic's shop was kind enough to install the part for us (it was literally a sensor that it took 10 minutes to replace), but this Firestone was just a $130 waste of time, sadly. read more

I was hopeful that this service center would prove to be top notch and become my new first choice given that it is walking distance to my office. Disappointment ensued. I asked for a $20 inspection due an upcoming trip. I received a call and was told that that spark plugs needed to be replaced. The plugs are less than two years old. Strike one At 3:30pm, I was told to pick up my car at 5:45pm. When I arrived at 5:45pm, I was told the car wasn't ready and would have to remain in the shop overnight. The phone call to tell me not to pick up the car was not made. Strike two Upon checking out the next morning, I was asked to make payment without viewing the printed work order. After paying, upon inspection of the work order, I found a line item for a donation to Salvation Army. Strike three read more

Kenneth and the staff at Firestone stayed steadily very busy all day, but took the time to explain to me everything that was going on with my car. The whole appointment with multiple services including new tires took less than 3 hours, and they had a spacious place to wait with free wifi although I walked around town instead. I could tell they were not trying to rip me off even though I'm super ignorant about car maintenance. read more

I took my car in for a $14 inspection sticker. It's a 2018 and I'm the only owner, so I know all of the maintenance and upkeep is current. It passed as roadworthy (of course), but they told me about some things that needed "immediate attention." Chiefly, they said my tires (less than a year old) were worn unevenly from a 6 on a 10 scale to a 9 on a 10 scale and my car desperately needed an alignment. That was just one of several items I was told I needed totaling nearly $800. I prefer to have servicing done at a Honda garage for the paperwork if I resell. Anyways, I took the car there, and lo and behold, the tires are all 8s and 9s, and the alignment is fine, as were all of the other issues I was told were of concern. Now I wouldn't want to call anyone a crook, but maybe I annoyed someone wasting their time with my chincy little inspection sticker. read more

DON'T TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! Took my car in for inspection sticker. Charged me $528 for work it turns out I didn't need. Charged me double labor. Charged a "tool use fee"...a fee for them using THEIR tools. 2 days later my car wouldn't run. Had it towed to the dealership. They had drained every bit of oil out of my engine. They didn't charge me for an oil change...so I can only assume this is intentional damage. read more

Made an appointment to have oil change, state inspection and winter tires put back on. When I arrived the guy at the counter informed me that firestone doesn't put old tires back on vehicles. He never looked at the tires. They were only ran for 4 months last year. If this is your company policy why do you sell a tire like the blizzak that needs to be changed out seasonally? read more

I came in for an oil change and tire rotation while in town visiting family. They noted that the wear on one of the front tires indicated that the alignment seemed off. They completed the alignment, but noted that their may be an issue with the rear alignment that they could not correct. On my drive home after visiting family, I noticed a rattling sound when getting up to highway speed. Upon looking under the car, I found that, after doing the oil change, they secured the skid plate with zip ties rather than using the original screws. read more

Hey Firestone, here's a thought. When you estimate when a car might be ready by a certain date and when you reach that date, the car is not ready... GIVE THE OWNER A CALL. I've been trying to call for 3 days to get an update on my car and not only did no one ever pick up except the ONE time I got a human voice on the phone, they left me on hold for 7 minutes and I had to go because my ride home from work arrived and I'm not sitting on fucking hold past that. That's bullshit. I would have been happy to get a voicemail. Except you don't have one. How is anyone supposed to get a hold of you after work? I was so patient with you DESPITE THAT FACT that you caused my car's engine light to go on because you didn't replace the sensor when you replaced the timing belt. And that you somehow missed the impending messed up spark plugs that you said (and I quote) "would have been CATASTROPHIC to the engine" had they not been changed immediately. If you had done it right the first time, I wouldn't have had to waste my time driving all the way back out there. We better not make it to two weeks without a call for an update or I'll come down there and cause a god damn scene. There's about 5 grand in repairs for that I'm putting into my PT Cruiser but now I think I'll find someone else to do it. You have a responsibility to communicate with your customers. We are having a horrific experience with Firestone. We came in for a state inspection and they replaced the left half shaft. We then took it to Joe Holland who immediately asked us who else had been working on our Sonata. Firestone cause $1800.00+ in damages. We brought it back to Firestone and it has been stuck at the bureaucracy of their warranty company for 20 days, and we have one vehicle. The have promised us a rental and never made good. Our claim has been shuffled around. It is a nightmare. I plan to file suit next week if this isn't resolved. read more

My car was towed there by my roadside assistance at 3 pm on Tuesday. They did not have time that day to look at it. I had to rent a car to get home. I call them at noon the next day. No one had even looked at it. No notes from the guy who accepted the car. I am now towing it to someone who will actually look at my car. Will never use them again. read more

I took my car there for an oil change and because there was an odd noise coming from the engine area. I went on a Monday afternoon and opted to leave my car overnight because I was led to believe it would be looked at the following morning. I called Tuesday afternoon for the status and was told they hadn't even looked at it yet! A couple of hours later I called again and was told the oil change was done but I needed new belts and they weren't in stock so it would be the next morning after 10 when my car would be ready. I asked if they were certain it was a belt problem and was told absolutely - the technician poured water on the belt and the noise went away. The next day I picked the car up and within 10 minutes the noise was back. I went straightaway to the dealer. A defective oil trap was diagnosed immediately and an hour and a half later my car was repaired. I've driven it quite a bit and the noise has not returned. The people that work for Firestone are very nice. Unfortunately, after 48 hours without a car and a complete misdiagnosis, I feel they are not the best place to have my car serviced. Ever. read more

I took my car in to see what the problem was with my cars air conditioning. Not only was I charged $140 for them to see what the problem was but the problem they identified was wrong. I was told my vehicle needed a new cooling fan, but it turns out its something electrical. If I would've trusted their advice I would've payed $600 for a new cooling fan when the one I already have is fine. Now I'm not sure if there was any malicious intent so they could get me to come in for another problem and spend more money or if it was a mistake. But regardless I would expect professionals to be able to do their jobs. I'm glad I got a second opinion. I do not recommend coming here. read more

For many, many years I have taken my cars to Firestone at 817 Washington St E in Charleston, WV. In recent years however, service has become very unreliable. In 2009 I paid them to change all of the gaskets in my 1996 Toyota Camry the engine gasket alone cost over $300.00, all schedule oil changes have occurred as well as any other maintenance needs. The engine gasket is leaking and was identified by another local mechanic and when they were told that the repairs had been made in recent years it was suggested that I return to Firestone because a gasket and their work should last longer than two years. Firestone refused to honor their faulty work at no additional charge to me. read more

Do not take your car here for a state inspection. They will scam you. I took my car there for a state inspection and they failed my car claiming I needed $1900 in expensive repairs. Took it to another inspection station the next day and found that I didn't even need brake pads. Someone needs to investigate this place. I asked around after this happened and found that others had similar experiences where Firestone placed rejection stickers and claimed that brake jobs were necessary when they clearly were not. I only went there because of the location. I wish I would have checked around before I did because I could have saved myself a lot of inconvenience. read more

This review is posted later than I had planned, but back in Feb. my wife and I were returning to Ohio when a bracket bolt holding the serpentine belt tensioner pulley broke on my SUV as I was coming into Charleston on the WV turnpike on a Friday evening. After a night spent in the vehicle because we did not want to leave it unattended in a hotel lot, we were able to get a AAA tow to this Firestone service center, which was one of only a few service shops that was open on a Saturday. We got to the shop around 10 and obviously had no appointment. These guys were so great and although busy, worked us in by around noon, were able to get the broken bolt portion in the engine block carefully extracted, located a replacement pulley assembly (which fortunately came with a replacement bolt) which they installed and had us back on the road by 2:30. Considering that we were not locals, had very few options (especially on a Saturday), and were basically at their mercy, these guys handled our needy situation in a most professional manner. On top of that, considering that had they not been able to perform our needed repair, we were looking at spending two nights in Charleston until we could find a service center on Monday that was capable of performing the repair, what was charged for parts and labor was most reasonable. The bottom line to all this is that we were so fortunate to find them and will be forever grateful to them for helping us get back on the road and get home. They really saved our bacon !! read more

I took my son's car in to get tires and an alignment and was told the mechanic said the oil was very dirty and needed changed. I agreed to have it changed. I paid for tires, alignment and oil change. When I went to pick up the car my son said he had just had the oil changed in Pittsburgh a week before. And I looked and the sticker for the Pittsburgh oil change was still on the window. My money was refunded for the oil change but now I wonder if the alignment was even done. read more
