Stumbled upon this place after some google searching and it was exactly what we were looking for…read more My husband and I went up to Alpena for a long weekend. The owners greeted us and were extremely nice and hospitable. They even gave us a bag of newspaper to use as fire starter. We stayed in the Villa but there are several other cabins on the property. It was dog friendly and there was a volleyball court and cornhole on site. Inside there was a full sized fridge, stove, microwave, and 2 double beds. You do have to bring your own bedding and towels but they have blankets and comforters. The place was clean and well taken care of. There was a stand up shower and the water does smell but I'm sure that's typical of the area. There is a small grocery store and bar within a 10 minute drive. Each cabin has a rowboat or you can rent a motor for it. There is also a fire pit with chairs that you can use and also a grill. One recommendation: bring toilet paper and dish soap/a sponge. They did provide one roll of toilet paper but that was it and there were pots and pans to use but nothing to clean them with. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and feel we got a lot of value for the money. Can't wait to come back!

We were in town for a family memorial service, and she was very patient and helpful despite some changes in our reservation. Really a lovely spot. The lake is right out your door and the hummingbirds came to greet us many times at the feeders. Highly recommended! The only reason why we didn't give five stars was that we dealt with quite a bit of flies during two days of our stay, though folks in town said that that was common for the area.

The Master Bedroom bed felt like a concrete slab. And what they don't show you on the website is that 3 out of 4 beds are actually in an attached garage & literally placed next to the Inn's storage area of vacuum cleaners, towels etc. Speaking of supplies, they don't even supply toilet paper. At least they were kind enough to supply a fly swatter, so you could swat at all the flying insects landing on you while you're trying to sleep in a garage. Then the cleaning lady busts in the cottage the next morning to do loads of laundry during your stay. We were scheduled to stay 2 nights but we couldn't handle 1 more night and chose to stay at another hotel. If you make the mistake of staying at this place, BYOTP (bring your own toilet paper) and be prepared for a rough night ahead. Before writing this review I brought my concerns to the hotel owner. She was rudely dismissive and refused to refund us for the extra night.

We could walk to the business area - in fact, we could walk all over this charming small town. There are 2 units in the house. 3 of us stayed in the larger downstairs unit: 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, dining room, living room, and kitchen. The kitchen and bath were very well equipped and the dining room had lots of games, books and information of the town and surrounding area. The house was very comfortable. I love this airport!…read more Convenient: APN is closer to me than MBS and way closer than FNT. Cost-effective: Driving to MBS, FNT, or worse yet DTW, takes hours and adds mileage to your vehicle. I justify the additional cost of APN by considering travel time, mileage, and cost to park at MPN or FNT. Using the IRS car mileage reimbursement rate (62.5 cents per mile as of June 9, 2022, but this rate can change several times a year), I multiply this rate and the distance to either MPN or FNT. For MPN, which is 100 miles away from me, the cost of wear and tear on my vehicle is $62.50. Long-term parking at MBS is currently $8 per day. APN currently does not charge for short- and long-term parking. On a perfect day, this trip will take me 2.25 hours to drive. I value my time to be worth more than minimum wage, even today's inflated minimum wage. Together, these costs justify me spending an extra $150 to fly into DTW to catch a connecting flight. Comfortable: The new terminal is bigger and more comfortable than the old Quonset hut they used to use.
