The view is spectacular, even on an overcast day. It is relaxing to sit in the sand and just soak up the sun. With Beach Ten being probably the nicest beach, it does get a lot of use out of it as well. There is enough space to stretch out, but do be mindful of the other people that may be there. Pros: Ample parking Picnic tables for use Lifeguard on duty most times Shower/changing amenities Cons: None There is a concession stand area if you find you want a snack while you are here. But you have to be mindful. The concession stand is not always open. There are eleven beaches I believe and each beach has this area available. They do kind of a rolling rotation of which stand(s) are open on what day. If the concession stand is not open a note will be posted to inform you what stand is open if you feel the need to get a snack. This area also offers vending options as well as a telephone to call for emergencies. A place to rinse off your feet after being in the sand. The restrooms are located here as well.

Conneaut itself is kind of strange with the creepy abandoned looking amusement park, and the super haunted Conneaut hotel. We drove right through the amusement park and hotel until we reached a parking lot right on the lake. I think this is a public beach area right next to the tiki bar. I was impressed by how clean it was, and how beautiful the nearby lake houses were. The tiki bar was busy in the middle of the hot summer day. We walked right onto the dock for their boat! It was super easy and convenient. The lake itself is clean and pretty! We took the boat out to the sandbar at the flagpole in the middle of the water. It was only a few feet of water in some areas and kids and dogs could stand. The water felt amazing - 76 degrees! The bottom of the lake at this point is very sharp, so we had to wear water shoes. The lake is really beautiful and this is a great day trip from Pittsburgh.

On Labor Day weekend, it was cold if you spent any length of time on it. Great temp for tubing or boating. There are many coves or sandbars you can stop on if desired. Our hosts had a private dock so we did some swimming there. This is truly a town where families gather over generations sharing traditions. The weekend after Labor Day is typically the wrap up of the Summer season. This area gets lake effect snow and in the winter is pretty sparsely populated. Besides a very clean pond filled with beautiful water fowl , there is also a small Japanese garden at the top of a steep hill that overlooks the pond. I don't know about you, but swans are a very rare occurrence in my sheltered world so being able to see two up close was awesome! There is a large shelter house in the very back of the park that provides a clean, uncluttered view of Lake Erie. Right now there are Christmas decorations if you're into viewing holiday lights. This is easily one of the cleanest parks I've ever visited. Although it is NOT DOG FRIENDLY, I would encourage you to bring the rest of the family.

I really would have liked to give them 3.5-3.75 stars, not quite 4. This is why: 1) Before we booked the site we looked at the picture. We also went on YouTube to look at the site as well. 2) We made sure that we looked to see if it would handle the size of RV (we have an RV on the smaller side. Under 30'. We thought we did our due diligence and was excited to have a great weekend. When we got there we could see that the site was smaller than we thought. We backed the RV up and the back was pretty much too close to the site behind us. The slope was absolutely horrible, we tried to level the RV and the back was as high as it could go, the front was practically in the floor and still pretty bad. We hitched up and said forget this! We went to the camp store to state we were leaving, but wanted a refund. The lady let my husband know that there were two sites open that we could check out. Thankfully the other site although not that great, was a lot better. We were happy to be across from the beautiful lake. It had rained days before and there was mud and mottes... lol. After that we decided to make the best of our stay. We actually like the section we were in. It was less packed. Of course there were times there was dogs barking a lot. I tuned them out, but my husband could not.. lol. We had nice walks, visited the Nature Center, bought little things at the camp store.

The beaches have a variety of facilities and have different types of beach experiences depending on where you are. It is worth a drive to feel like you are getting a beach getaway closer to home. Lots of activities to keep people engaged and show off the great asset that PI is to Erie. One thing they could do a bit better with this festival is communicating when events are changed/postponed/cancelled. Great location! To…read morestart off this is a very tight campground that can be a bit confusing to navigate. Luckily they have golf carts that wait for your arrival and show you to your spot. The staff at check in was great. She showed us our spot and gave us a packet of information with a map of the campground, state park, and other things to do in the area. The space was clean and concrete and rocks so you don't have to worry about mud. You are very close to the other campers but everyone was nice and quiet in the evening. We did not take a shower but did use the bathrooms at the shower house and they were clean and have a code entry. We drove over to the other part of the campground on the lake and walked to beach. It felt like two separate campgrounds. So it was confusing to know where the campground events were taking place. I asked someone in the camp store and was told by the playground maybe. We walked around a little bit didn't find it. The location is key. It is right at the entrance to the state park, with a beach across the street, close to the multi purpose trail and restaurants.
