This is my favorite place to be when I'm not home. I love being here, being in the space, surrounded by these people that also just enjoy coming to all of these classes. Even when you attend a heated class and there's 35 of us within a room, you will still catch me smiling ear to ear because we are all there for one purpose or another. The heated class and the unheated classes are both taught in gorgeous rooms. I trust all of the teachers within the room to ensure I am safe and can do this practice at hand. If you are a BIPOC, there are free Thursday 8pm classes too which I LOVE! Approach with caution. The class description is not accurate. I really want to love it, but it's not always easeful to be here. I've taken several classes, and there's only 1 instructor that is trauma informed, and ends class on time, at least for heated classes. When I look at my watch, and we're still in intense flows at 45 min after, I'm concerned. I'm a trained hot yoga teacher as well, and it's definitely not customary to lay on the ground for the first half of class, and then try to flow, leaving 1 min before class ends for savasana. There is no announcement of, "hey, it's x o'clock, so if you need to leave, no problem". But frankly, it's careless, and poor time management to hold a class over the time allotted. At a studio I worked at previously, the instructor was let go for continuously holding class over time. I wish there was more respect for people's time. read more

This is a nice studio they're instructors are well trained & fit! There are a lot of amenities, local items for sale, mat rentals, and multiple rooms to allow for dual classes. at the end of the hot yoga practice they'll give you a cold eucalyptus towel for your forehead. I've gone at least 4x in the last 2 months via Classpass app... I honestly really can't commit to a monthly membership to this studio nor any studio that does not have a class size capacity because I am hella annoyed when I cannot get the most out of my practice. these classes have a least 30+ bodies which means you can not get into poses comfortably or at all... it's nice to know that many people love and enjoy practicing yoga but when your practice is half ass because of the lack of space to perform the moves it's almost a washout. read more

Cant wait for covid to end so I can work my way up to gaining endurance for hot yoga again. Firelight's easier classes are more challenging compared to a lot of other hot yoga classes. I don't think it's necessarily hard but that it's so hot it makes it hard. Before covid times, peak hours packed almost 50 students in a class, and honestly..... I loved that. Love the eucalyptus towels after class and great to see environmentally friendly shower products in the locker rooms. I've been to hot yoga here a few times(through my ClassPass). The studio is clean has friendly staff and good, knowledgeable instructors. There is not really any parking, so be prepared to find a spot on the street or in the neighborhood. Mats and towels are available for rent. The women's locker room has two showers and cubbies/lockers for your personal items while you're in class. The hot yoga room sometimes has a bit of funk (which you don't notice after your first flow)and tends to be in my opinion a little crowded (classes are just always full, not overbooked). The instructors are friendly, energetic and knowledgeable. They provide a good class, where I feel free of judgment and confident in my ability to push myself. Every classes finishes with a cold towel and some lovely smelling essential oil (eucalyptus or lavender). Definitely recommend if you are new to hot yoga or want to try a new workout. read more

Decided to drop by for a class that I booked via Classpass. The environment is really nice and welcoming, even for newcomers like myself! They have 2 rooms, so there are lots of classes to choose from - from gentle flow classes to more intense sculpt classes. Mats rentals are free if you walk or take public transport to the studio, which is a nice perk for non-drivers. If you live nearby, I highly recommend Firelight to get your yoga fix in! read more

Firelight Yoga is my favorite yoga studio in Portland! I have had Classpass for the last two years and have attended multiple yoga studios all over the city. This one is my favorite!!! My favorite class is the Hot, Gentle Flow at 1:30pm on Saturdays. I love Heather, the instructor for this class! She is considerate of heath issues and limitations while simultaneously allowing time in class for advanced yogis to push the limits. She always has something positive to say in class too which leaves me feeling good. The class is great for beginners or those looking for a more relaxed yoga class. It's also a "warm" class and not a "hot" one so it's barable and not hazardously HOT The only reason this studio gets 4 stars instead of 5 is because some of their other classes are too hot. I've had to walk out of class and leave early because I feared passing out. In the future it would be nice to lower the temperatures a bit. Other than this I love Firefight! read more

I have ClassPass so I get to try all kinds of yoga and fitness studios in Portland. I've also lived all over the country and tried yoga at each stop along the way. This studio is one of the top ones I've practiced at for sure! The facilities were fantastic - with lockers and showers available along with cubbies for your shoes up front. A cute retail space with a hot studio in the front and the non-hot studio in the back. I loved the names (Earth for the "cool" studio and Fire for the "hot" studio)! The gentle class I went to was really fantastic and the teacher was ready to relax us and encouraged us to find our bliss in a zen-like atmosphere. I started Class Pass and have found it fo be a great way to try new studios and get an all around fitness routine going. I am now addicted to Firelight and plan to give up Class Pass all together for a membership here. Everything is done right here. Check in is easy, cubbies are right there for your things, you go into a clear/bright/airy/beautiful room and work your butt off to great tunes with a teacher that doesn't pressure, presume or push. So far these classes are just the right mix of strength, cardio, and traditional yoga. But I really like that they aren't super crunchy, do you know what I mean? The instruction and vibe seems relatable, which is perfect from a long time but very infrequent yogi. I have only tried one class in the unheated room - and this was my only slight disappointment. The room seems to have a loud HVAC system making noise during the whole class - I am that person that is easily distracted by repetitive noise. I am going to give it another shot - because I love this studio that much. The class frequency and variety is great too. I know everyone's schedule varies, but I think that most will find something that works. I had planned to try other hot yoga studios in the area, but all of the above makes me think I need not look further than FLY! read more

I've been coming to Firelight Yoga for about 6 months through ClassPass and finally buckled down on a membership this month. While I was initially turned off by the class sizes, you learn what times are less hectic (ie, early AM and afternoon) and ultimately adjust to the number of bodies around you in the more crowded classes. I love Firelight because the sheer amount and variety of classes they offer, which I had trouble finding at other studios. You can do a 6am hot sculpt class one day and a 7:30pm restorative soundbath in the same breath if you want. What a dream. The staff is very kind and accommodating as well as welcoming to all levels - which is great considering most instructors are highly advanced yogis. I have to write a review because I am moving away from Portland soon and one of the saddest parts about leaving is leaving this studio! I am so happy to have found such a great place to practice yoga. The classes are always so fun and the teachers are so encouraging. They make getting up for the 6 am classes so much easier. The studio is cute and clean. The classes are engaging and always a great work out. All of the staff seems lovely, but special shout-out to the teacher's whose classes I take weekly -- Leah, Hailey H., Ace, Joey, Majo. I highly recommend taking a class with them! While the classes are okay, this studio has a pretty terrible vibe. It feels like they look for every opportunity to keep your money while not providing a service. I was 4 minutes late and they wouldn't let me in to class or give me a refund. They have an 'expiration' on their class passes that is in the realm of months. During covid when they closed down classes, they still let class passes expire with no refund, even though they couldn't actually be used. This place is like 4 blocks from me and I would still rather get in the car and drive somewhere than walk to the class in the fresh air and then have to deal with the 'gotcha again, nothing I can do' attitude of this place. Part of my New Year's resolution is to step out of my comfort zone and try new and different workout classes. This is no joke HOT, like almost 100 degrees HOT. Let's just start from the beginning. I heard about their $4 anniversary hot yoga class to celebrate four years of existence! Because of this, the place was packed! I paid and signed up through the MINDBODY app (you can sign the waiver through the app if you're a first-time visitor), but you do still have to check-in at the front desk via the iPads. This ensures if you're actually present and can open up spots for those on the waitlist if you're a no-show. Bring your own yoga mat if you have one or you can rent one from them for a reasonable $2. PRO-TIP: If you take any method of transportation other than driving (i.e. bus 72 and yellow line MAX are right outside this studio), the mat rental is free! As a commuter, I love this perk! Once you're checked in, head down the hall and you'll find the women's locker room. It's really small and cramped, especially if there's a large class. I felt slightly claustrophobic with the ladies in there who just finished their class as I was coming in. Another pro tip would be to change before even getting there. There are two small showers to the left and two bathroom stalls to the right. There aren't lockers, but there are cubbies for you to put your belongings in. PRO-TIP: If you want to feel extra secure, bring your own lock or rent one at check-in for $1. After all was stowed away, I headed into the studio and let's just say, get comfortable! If it's a full class, you'll be crammed in there like a can of sardines. If you're not new like I was, I suggest laying down your mat ahead of time before going into the locker rooms. MAJOR PRO-TIP: Rent or bring a fabric that covers your entire mat (there must be a name for it, but as a n00b, I have no idea what it's called). About 15 minutes into the class, I found myself losing my grip when trying to accomplish poses because of all of the sweat! The fabric gives you the stability and doesn't disrupt your flow. Hot FLY 60 with Celine, the instructor, had a soothing voice to make the class a great first time experience. I've only taken yoga a few times but I knew most of the moves. For the ones I didn't know, I just looked at everyone else around me or at Celine as she incorporated herself into the class at various points. I came out of the class drenched and enjoyed it. My body felt relaxed and to be honest, I had a great night's sleep. I would certainly take this class again! read more

Every class, every instructor is so great. I've being practicing yoga for years, in multiple different states and this is one of my favorite places. The yoga instructors guide your through a sequence but really value the practitioners intuition and encourage the students the practice at their own pace according to how their body feels that day. Love this studio and love their teachers! There is classes for everyone and at very convenient times. Front desk staff can be a little cranky and rude, so I try to ignore them when I come in. On multiple occasions when I have put on my shoes and a new member walks in they are rude and never very helpful. I am thankful I came to my first class with a member. Overall a great studio, but did their Hot FLY 60 and oddly no corrections? Leaving Bikram (due to no longer being able to support that man/company/nasty energy) I was excited to get a few similar poses, but in a better environment. The class was packed, started on time, and the instructor was friendly, but I found it odd the instructor didn't offer any corrections/adjustments. For me part of the reason to go to a studio is for a 3rd party to offer ways to improve. I'll try this place again, for sure, but may keep searching for a home studio that better aligns with my understanding of how classes should operate. Firelight yoga is a special place. I always walk into the studio or (as of recent log into their zoom meeting class) with a warm welcome and I always leave feeling great about the time spent with the instructors and feeling stronger and healthier. I truly appreciate the patiences the instructors have with new yogis. Each employee is extremely knowledgeable about the mind and how it correlates with the body. Every time I finish a 60 or 80 minute fly class, I get really red in the face and very sweaty. No matter which instructor is at the desk they always check in on me to see if I am okay! It's been about 6 months since I started at Firelight virtually. Yoga has made a HUGE difference in my life over the last few months and I truly have to thank the instructors and staff at firelight for that. Every instructor I've had has been so positive, uplifting, welcoming and I feel they really love and believe what they do. They recently opened up the studio and have 2 in person classes a day. They are doing an amazing job following COVID safety guidelines and it feels extremely safe to come to the space with only 9 people in a class at this time. They are still offering classes virtually daily as well as one free/donation based class a day. If you're unsure about yoga or struggling to get back into it, you must try out Firelight. A great class to let you find your edge while feeling confident that is is well structured to set you up for success. The instructors guide you through the basic structure of the hot fly class with a little personal flair to each instructor. Always the same sequence so you know exactly what to expect! A personal favorite of firelight is the fire flow class. Lindsey does an excellent job creating balanced unique sequences that set you up for success while challenging your mind and body. Her personality will have you smiling at your most challenging moments and help you dive deeper into yoga, beyond the asanas. Make sure to try out all of what firelight has to offer. Firelight is a fantastic studio. It's one of the best I've been to not just in Portland, but considering everywhere I've traveled across the globe. They have the widest range of classes offered and every teacher I've taken has been great. They have a heated and a non heated room, adding even more variety. They also have TONS of classes per day, which is a huge perk as it's hard to find a place that will have classes at times like 10am and 3pm but they do which is great. I started going to this studio a year ago after a friend brought me in to join her for a class. A year later, I'm still going and even have a membership to the studio (a first time for me!) which is why I feel compelled to review. After taking around 20 different classes here, I can honestly say this is a welcoming studio that has something for everyone and every body. You can find invigorating heated classes, renewing non-heated classes, challenging 'workout' classes, and even mediation. They are one of the few studios where I could find a choice of classes at the odd times of day that I have to practice. If you're a first-timer, I would recommend letting the front desk and your instructor know when you sign in just so you can get a full intro to the studio and a little time before your class to know how to prepare for it/what to expect. Give them a shot, you might just find your new home away from home. There are so many gems of instructors here too! read more
