Ordered the sandwiches at the counter from a young man that was very pleasant and helpful in making sure our order was right, and that my son got his student discount for being a Los Rios student. My son got a pepperoni pizza meatball sandwich that he gave rave reviews too. I got a hot italian with the works(except onions). Sandwich arrived hot, bread was fresh and lightly toasted. Meat & vegetable portions was solid across the board, and the flavor was quite excellent without feeling heavy after eating it. The only sub shop around here (that I am aware of) that does a mean grilled onion, mushroom, and green bell pepper vegetarian sammich with melted cheese on top. Ordered the 2 meal deal for 16$ thats 2 sandwiches, 2 bags of chips, and two drinks. Placed order through online app. Picked up order and drove home. Once I was situated sat down to eat just to realize my chips are not in my order. Ok so I call requesting a manager to speak with. Who tells me to come by another day and pick up some free chips. I had French dip on the brain but they don't have that. Smokin Triple Stack Brisket, smoked turkey breast, honey ham, sweet and tangy slaw, light mayo and BBq sauce on wheat sub roll. Well, I went to go finally make a BLT and I found out that my tomatoes had gone moldy. I called Doordash and ask them if anyone was doing a happy hour special on sandwiches. They said that firehouse had a special of two subs for $16 you had to order the same sandwich which I did I ordered the hook and ladder which was a delicious combination of turkey, turkey and ham, cheese, tomatoes, and lettuce with a pickle on the side, the sandwich was cut in half which I appreciated being blind as I'm kind of a messy eater. I was gonna eat the second of the next day so I asked them to please hold off on the mayo and mustard as I would put on my own. I thought for sure they were gonna put it on by going on automatic pilot. I was pleasantly surprised when the sandwich arrived and one of them did not have the mayonnaise and mustard on it. I got the Italian and was surprised that the main ingredient was Virginia ham which I am not used to seeing in an Italian sub. I asked for no dressing, but my sandwich was greasy although tasty. The bread was more coarse than I prefer, but very fresh. Ingredients were good quality although the sandwich had little of them. The shop does have seating and restrooms, along with self serve soft drinks. The whole shop was clean, bright and well organized. I deduct points for the counter where you order being too high for you to observe the sandwich making process. The service is friendly and welcoming. They ask your name and use it to personalize the experience. Firehouse subs would not be my first choice but they are conveniently located near the grocery store. I came in for lunch on a weekday and parked in the many spaces in the shopping center. To the best of my knowledge, they only offer one vegetarian sandwich and it comes in a 4-inch size, a 6-inch size, and a 12-inch size. The establishment is clean, cute, and decorated well. They also celebrated my donation to first responders! The sandwich was ready within a few minutes and I took it to go. I was happy to see it packed in sustainable packaging. Unfortunately, it was pretty messy and a little wet (maybe because of the mushrooms?). Have been coming to this firehouse for a year now. The ingredients is always fresh and bread is always toasty. I usually get the turkey bacon ranch sandwich and substitute in chicken breast. By far my favorite sandwich spot. The reason for the 4 stars is because I usually order ahead and every time I arrive for pick up the sandwich is not ready and I have to wait. Now I'm lucky I only have a mild allergy and that I can just take the tomatoes off, however if it wasn't mild they could have caused an incident that would have landed me in the hospital.
