The owner is female. She said hi and left us to browse. I love a good gift store. This one is excellent. You can find anything for that special someone, from rum recipes on a glass, to asking your burning question to a listening alien. It's a whimsical, quirky store. It has my approval stamped all over it. It was great seeing Lug bags. I love and Lug them. There is also a Canadiana section where you can get moose greeting cards, sorry paperweights, and much more. If you are a tea drinker, you can find an assortment of Tealish loose-leaf teas. You can also get accessories, such as tea spoons, tea bag holders, teapots, and more. This section made me happy. I ended up getting a couple of small items. A cute emperor penguin bookmark caught my attention. It's super sturdy and has a nice emperor penguin on it, with details about it. The other item was a handbag holder. It has a panda on it. You basically rest the base on a table and the hook dangles over the edge for your bag. I tried it later in the day and it worked well. The woman was nice. I paid with my debit card. I also skipped getting a bag because my items fit in my purse. I thanked her and we left the store. It's a cool store. I love it. But my contractor could not install it due to some unforeseen circumstances. When we opened the boxes months later we noticed that the refrigerator was missing. I did not expect anything from the company since it was my fault most probably that I did not check the shipment correctly or the refrigerator was stolen or something else. I still contacted with the company just to ask them if they could check if they sent the item. They checked and confirmed that it was sent. But surprisingly they sent me a replacement free of charge as a compliment. The customer service by BHARATI was very timely, effective, courteous and responsive. She called me and sent emails enough times about this ticket and for other purchases I placed later and a couple delivery problems. I don't know about the products' quality or durability as they are still not installed but I am very confident if I have further problems the company will stand by their products. Overall, great company, greater customer service and greatest representative.

Union Lighting is known to have the most lighting selection in all of Toronto. I don't understand why there are such low ratings here. I'm sure many people here are just browsing, and I rather have a sales rep give us the space and only come to us if we need help and seriously find a piece we're considering. So I have no issues with how no one really came up to us. There's a lot of lighting, but personally, not enough contemporary/modern lighting to our liking. We did take some pictures of the few we liked that are more contemporary-inspired. However, we don't love it enough to pull the trigger. The prices for the lighting are very high for the ones we looked at, about $1500 (for that round chandelier) to $5600 (Criss Cross silver lighting). We liked the look of the round chandelier the most. To our surprise, our neighbour has the same one. So loses that unique appeal. Also don't know how we would change the light if it burns out? Lighting is all personal preference. This trip nothing really screamed "this is the one" for us. If you're into other design themes like traditional, industrial, mid-century modern etc, you may find there is more to your liking than the modern/contemporary styles here. Had them cut rods but they weren't cut properly even though the measurements were CORRECT and they won't do anything about it. Thought about having them install curtains too but when we realized that Mark, the owner, chooses (on a whim or based on how he's feeling that day) who gets a better price for such services, we opted out. It's hard to support small businesses when this is how they run their business - especially when it's something custom and so specific like curtains, rods, etc!
