This hospital as always pulled through for me. From emergencies, surgery and radiology etc. This hospital has taken care of my family. This place has some of the best doctors in place. But not to sugarcoat, there are some security guards that are completely jerks! Incompetent and judgemental. Unfortunately, 2 days after visiting, my experience left me frustrated and scratching my head. My main complaint is I was prescribed fluoroquinolone antibiotics (Cipro) for a sting ray sting, without any mention about the well documented risks associated with lasting tendon rupture and collagen matrix disruption. It was only once I'd done my research that I had to call to see if we can switch. One of the PA's (Paula, also exceptional) took my call and even said she was glad that I caught that and did not understand why I was prescribed Cipro when there are much safer alternatives out there. When I had gone in, I was also given a steroid shot to help with inflammation and left in the room for some time. I started to get quite nauseous and felt close to fainting. I had to step outside and call for someone, just to be told "yeah this happens often, forgot to warn you" and "you beat me to checking in on you." What's worse is I came to find out combining fluoroquinolones with corticosteroids (steroid shots) have been documented to a FOURTEEN (14!) FOLD increased risk of tendinopathy and tendon rupture (D. Baggio, M.R. Andana-Rajah, 2021). Why on earth would you combine a fluoroquinolone and corticosteroids? If there are safer antibiotics, why fluoroquinolone alone? The whole experience just feels medically untrained or professionally careless. I'm completely bewildered, and quite frustrated.

To be seen around 3 and told he's fine he can go home . They drew no blood no testing . 1 hour later of being home his fever spiked again . Went to another hospital had low oxygen got chest X-rays and swabbed turns out he has rsv. Now receiving breathing treatments and medication through IV . Thank god I knew something wasn't right . Lack of compassion disappointed . Nursing isn't just a paycheck these are people's lives in your hands .

Till one day, I just couldn't take it anymore and came to VALB for mental help. Dr. Smita asked me some questions that day and handed me over to Physician Assistant Sue Tin for follow-up care. I had a video appointment with Sue Tin. I told her that a year after I returned from Iraq in 2007, traumatic thoughts kept reappearing, making me angry, and it kept getting worse and worse. She said it's an anger issue and put me on Quetiapine, which didn't do anything but made me sleep, and woke up feeling tired and drugged up. Then I had an appointment with a senior Psychologist Dr. James Edward. Before the appointment, I had to take a test, but I didn't know what the test was for. I was shocked when Dr. Edward told me that I have severe symptoms of PTSD. I argue with him, saying that it's impossible for me to have PTSD because I was never in any combat. So I went through 6 weeks of group therapy and left the program. One day, a childhood friend of mine noticed that I had changed a lot ever since I returned from Iraq and told me about non-combat PTSD. I applied, was carefully examined by a VA doctor, and was awarded 70% compensation. HOW MANY MORE MENTALLY WOUNDED VETERANS WILL SUE TIN BE ALLOWED TO JUST DISSMISSED AND LEFT TO DIE HOMELESS ON THE STREET? SHE NEVER SERVED A DAY IN THE MIDDLE EAST. WE DID, AND WHEN WE WERE ABOUT TO BLOW OUR OWN BRAIN OUT FROM TRAUMATIC THOUGHTS REAPPEARING AND CAME TO VA HOSPITAL FOR HELP, WE GOT SOME SH### LIKE SUE TIN.
