Took my 3 yr old for swim lessons. Coaching is good, but the customer service seems a little cold. Most occasions, unless you say hello up on entrance, no one at the front desk greets you or barely notice you are there. Far different hospitality experience than at other schools with my older kids. Oh well, maybe it's a Texas thing. We are not from here. read more

I can't say enough great things about FINS Swim School! From the first lesson, it was clear that FINS is a place that really cares about every kid (and adults!) who comes through their doors. It's not just a swim school; it's become a huge part of our community, bringing families together and giving kids confidence in the water. The Customer Relations Team is incredible and has really helped work around my schedule and come up with the best solution to make sure my kid succeed in their classes. FINS has such a warm, inviting atmosphere, and the instructors are amazing. They're incredibly patient, skilled, and genuinely excited to teach. My kids were a bit nervous at first, but the instructors knew just how to put them at ease. Within a few lessons, my kids went from clinging to the side of the pool to swimming confidently across it! They make learning fun and encourage everyone at every step, no matter their age or skill level. The times I can't make it and reschedule for a makeup, the substitute knows exactly what my kid is working on with their normal instructor. I had asked about how they're able to continue learning if they're with a sub and they informed me the teachers update the notes for each one of their students and all the teachers can see and parents as well. So when they are with a substitute, they can read their notes as well and it is not just a lesson where my kid doesn't learn anything. They're great with communication, keeping us updated on our kids' progress and goals in a way that feels personal. The instructors take time to give us feedback after each class, which is so helpful. I dont Know about anyone else but my kid is pretty particular on who she swims with and if coach emma is out then she does not want to swim, but they are pretty good at emailing or texting us ahead of time to let us know she will be out and we can call to make it up a different time when emma has availability. The safety standards at FINS are also top-notch. They clearly care about creating a safe environment and making sure every student is comfortable in the water. As a parent, it's such a relief to see how seriously they take safety while also making sure the kids are having a blast. As a first-time mom, I was very nervous about just sending my kids in but they were very careful and gentle with the kids, but also the right balance of pushing them. The pool area is always clean, the equipment is in great shape, and the staff makes you feel welcome every single time. Beyond just swim lessons, FINS hosts events and meet-ups, and you often see kids and parents chatting before and after lessons. It feels like everyone is rooting for each other here. It's awesome to see my kids making friends and also seeing friends from school because a lot of my kid's classmates swim here as well. I also love how they're open to everyone, from beginners to competitive swimmers. FINS has become such a positive part of our lives, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a supportive, fun, and skill-building environment. My kids have not only learned to swim but also gained confidence and independence, which is priceless. My family didn't have the greatest experience here. I'm really disappointed in this place. If they are going to offer swim lessons for 3 year olds, their teachers need to be equipped for dealing with 3 year olds. Also, the staff wasn't professional and told us some things about a teacher having health problems that was no way our fault or our business and shouldn't have been disclosed to us- just say you had a change in staff not air everyone's business! If your job is to swim with young kids in the pool and literally keep them from drowning you should be sure your staff is physically able to do that. It was scary and unsafe! read more

- Not fair on pricing. Shared fees for private lessons on phone to be $33 for 1 child and $28.50 as sibling discount for second child for a 20 minute lesson over the phone. I re-confirmed whether that would be their total charges. After the lesson they tagged on a $55 annual membership fee that was not disclosed. While I was at the swim school the receptionist answering the phone also said there would be no membership views. When I called to request the school to fix my bill they refused to remove the fees. I would've had no issues with a fee had the school been honest about their pricing. - All the swim instructors looked unhappy and were hardly smiling at the children during class. At the 2 swim schools I've been to before, I experienced very sweet, friendly, and happy instructors. Seems like management doesn't treat the instructors well. They don't treat the parents right either. Another parent was furious with them during my visit. They get zero from me on their customer service! read more

First of all thank you to the reviewers who mentioned the minimum commitment policies. It was nice knowing that when coming in. Once we did sign up the terms were very clear. So I feel that FINS was more than fair. On to the good stuff. Our daughter started out with okay swim skills, but was by no means a strong swimmer. Now, almost two months later she has made incredible strides. I believe this is in large part to the very structured program at FINS. There is a set number is skills they go over at every level. These skills build from week to week. Each skill also emphasizes good form. I've seen what other schools produce and this one is top notch. No doggie paddling here. The instructors all blend a mixture of kindness and firmness. There have been four or more instructors our daughter has worked with and she loves them all. I had only planned on signing up for two months for twice a week lessons. However, we signed up for another month to round out the Summer. Heck our daughter loves this so much we may even continue in the fall. She may be rockin swim team next year. I'm incredibly pleased at the progress, the process, and the kindness of all of the staff. Our daughter has a gift now which will last the rest of her life. Thank you FINS! read more

My son took group swing lessons here for a while and his swimming imrpoved noticeably. The instructors were typically on time, and we had no issues with any front office staff. The reason for four stars instead of five is that the facility is just so-so. There are not a lot of seats for parents during busy hours and the changing rooms are small and not that private. Called to try to book lessons for my children. Spoke with two different women, both of whom were unfriendly and condescending. The first I spoke with seemed clueless when it came to answering any questions I had. The second woman came across as a "know it all" and did not seem interested in earning my business (she couldn't even explain to me the difference between FINS lessons and other swim facilities in the area.) it is apparent that they think highly of themselves and their swim program but do not think they need to provide friendly customer service. Had they been more personable and helpful I'd be paying them the $800 they charge for lessons. Now I will take my business elsewhere. read more

Called and tried to book our 8 month old his first swimming lesson. They called back for credit card info while I was in the shower. I told them I would call them back when I got out and they said that was fine that they would hold our spot in the class until noon. I called back at eleven and she said she had already booked our spot. So much for holding my sons spot like they said they would. Disappointing. They need to learn how to run a more professional organization. Hopefully your experience is better than mine. read more

My child took classes during summer of 2014. The classes in general were fun and helpful in understanding how to introduce pool/water safety to children. My complaint with this company isn't the quality of the classes; it is the 1 month cancellation policy that forces customers to pay for one extra month after notifying them you wish to stop classes. I hope FINS realizes that their customers are generally REPEAT customers... Meaning that, customers who "quit" in the winter months are most likely thinking of resuming classes in the warmer months. As a matter of fact, many moms, including myself, first ask if they can "hold" or "freeze" their account until next season, to which FINS responds that they do not offer this option. It's never a good business strategy to 1) take a customer who is WANTING to keep/freeze their membership and forcing them to quit by not offering this option, and then 2) p**sing off these potential future repeat customers by charging them for an extra month they do not want. I asked the front desk what their philosophy is behind forcing customers to continue another month after they've decided they want to stop classes. Is it because it takes an entire month to stop auto-payment charges... No. Is it because FINS will attempt to replace your open spot with another customer and they need one month to do this... No. The only explanation they gave me was that "FINS takes a loss every time a customer quits". Well, first, that's not true and, second, that's really not a justifiable reason to charge your existing customer for classes they don't want. FYI, yes FINS does have you sign a contract that states you will give them 1 month notice during sign up, so to be fair, they are upfront about their annoying practice. I'm just stating that it leaves an unnecessary bad after taste for customers who were thinking of returning next year... And in my case, I will not be returning just to avoid having to deal with this hassle all over again next year. read more
